The leading organization, in my opinion, that has Veterinarians and Chiropractors that become Animal Chiropractors is the Animal Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) They have a website with a "Find a Doctor" tab/database: www.animalchiropractic.org
This a good resource for all that are looking for a well trained doctor near them.

    Here in Australia we go by their fur length- short furred- Domestic Short Hair, medium furred-Domestic Medium Hair and long furred- Domestic Long Hair. So glad this kitty got adopted. Black kitties are the longest staying in the shelter.

    I love black cats! We had three when I was growing up. None of them were related. We got them at different times. The first one, Pepper, was my best friend! I couldn't have gotten through my difficult childhood and teens without him.❤

    Dr. Willen. I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you do. You're such a kind soul. Unfortunately, as a professional I haven't been able to devote myself to animals as you do, but we do what we can. We've adopted rescue's for decades and contribute financially as much as we can to others that have dedicated themselves to animal welfare. I'll be retiring within the year and thinking seriously about donating a couple of days a week to helping an animal rescue facility in some capacity. God bless you and your work. By the way, I also love the work you do with humans, but your animal work gives me chills and I just feel the love you have for the animals.

    Its sad to see such a young cat with significant mobility issues. Sounds like the pet parent did the right thing by noticing an issue, going to emergency and regular vet, and still trying chiropractic. I love how you tell the animal to take a deep breath and then you take a deep breath. Lol 😆 Thank you for sharing and hope Pinkus is doing better! ❤ 😊

    Excellent job there Dr. Doug. You can see the difference immediately at the end! Looks like Pinkus may have landed awkwardly maybe on an unstable surface. Nice owner that sought medical advice immediately [as usually the quicker one finds out the cause and correct it, the better for the person and animal]. Very patient and lovely kitten and very trusting too.

    Dr Willen, Pinkus is charming and was calm throughout the adjustment 👍. This is what a team work is, a win win on both sides 👌. Pinkus wasn’t comfortable on the table but in her mom’s lap she felt a lot safer. As you got to know her and gave her space, she became more comfortable around you. This is the best example of before and after, I’m so sure that within 72 hours she’ll feel a lot more better. Dr Doug, your magic hands did an awesome 👏 job even with Pinkus being on her mom’s lap. I like how you were happy when you kept asking about the hump and the posture and the mom said she’s much better, I see your passion, excitement and the love ❤️ in what you do. Have a nice week doc, thank you 🙏 for everything.

    Watch cats for looking like they haven't groomed in a while. Messy hair, dull fur, slovenly. My cat was in pain and looking back, it was evident that she was unable to reach around in a flexible manner. She was 18 by then, and had been hit by a car 17 years earlier and broken her femur, and my chiropractor who had never adjusted an animal was able to adjust her low back. She resumed jumping up on chairs and grooming as soon as we got home. She knew it made her feel better and liked him much more than the vet, so a follow up visit went well, too. Incidentally, it is easier to adjust most cats in their home territory than to take them out of it. Cats have a home that is strongly geographic, whereas dogs go with the pack.

So cool he/she is better. Reminds me of the sheep with the crooked neck.. or was it a goat. Anyway, kudos once again!!! 💗💗💗 Bridge

    Hi Elin! No I never worked on a horse with equine wobbler syndrome, it is not curable, it can be treated only with expensive surgery, aggressiv management and drugs.

    Remarkable. Tip, Dr.: in my experience cats sometimes.purr when they're in pain, too. See videos of them in labor, or in extremis. And have had animals, livestock , large & small, all my life, but your horse videos excell. Wish you were closer Kudos.

    Working with cats is definitely too difficult :) They are so much more fearful than dogs. It takes so much more caution. Dogs, you show them a little interest they are happy and curious, even if you cracked them ten seconds earlier. Cats, you do the same, they want to get out of there, haha :) With cats, you have only one or two attempts to do the job ^^

    Is this something vets are taught in school?

  • @robingray5037

    @robingray5037

    4 ай бұрын

    No, it's not taught to vets. Chiropractors go to school and train to work on people. Some Chiropractors will then also learn and train to work on animals, like Dr. Wilen. Many vets can work with an animal Chiropractor, or know of one in the area.

    In order to be an animal chiropractor in the USA, you have to first finish College, then attend either a chiropractic school, or a Veterinarian School, and finally study Animal Chiropractic. It's a long road. It took me 10 years all together for the list above. Thanks Patricia

    @@AnimalCrackerDrDougWillen wow! Dedication unlimited Doc! A worthwhile career. I don't see you being any less busy than the vets. Although I see the costs being more reasonable than what I see in vets. My suspicion with vet service is pretty much the same as my suspicion with human vets.
