When I clean my chin Stitch's cage I let him out to play. It makes cleaning less stressful. :)

I use a solution of vinegar and baking soda to wash the urine off the shelving then rinse with water and wipe dry.

Aww, Glad you are back! While you were gone I recently got two female, black velvet chinchillas! One of them is pretty much almost bonded with me, and the other one still needs some work, Hopefully we will get there soon!

I am a one time chin owner to my beloved late Squeakerito Francesco who died two years ago at age 18, and I'll be adopting two little chin ladies soon. When I had Squeaker, I didn't use fleece at all. Now, since I've learned stuff, I am using fleece. Is it better going to tile? Tile is cooler, is that why? Thank you so much! :)

Hello! I have a question. It doesn’t have much to do with the actual video but- I don’t have a chinchilla yet, but I plan on getting one (or two) in the future. I know that they shouldn’t get wet and should be looked after whenever they aren’t in their cage. But just to make sure, what would you do in case they did get wet? Okay so I know this is kind of late, but...My chinchillas we’re struggling with the heat down here in Texas, my room once got up to 80 degrees and and I was super scared to they were going to have a heat stroke! But recently my dad has been a life saver and put a portable AC in my room now it is 66 in my room, you think that is a comfortable temperature for them? The highest it is getting NOW is 71.

Hi! I have a question: so my chinchillas really hate going out to playtime. Basically, “play time” is in the bathroom, which is like 10~ steps away from the cage, so I have to carry them there. However, they hate being held or picked up, and whenever I’ve tried to pick them up, they run away or sometimes bark, so I’ve stopped trying. I know play time is necessary for chinchillas - what should I do?

They’re probably not used to you carrying them. Show them their dust bath and when they hop in, cover the opening and then transport them to the bathroom inside the dust bath

Kxyleen • Some chinchillas will pee in the same spot so you can place a litter box there, others pee all over the cage so it depends on what your chinchilla does. For litter I recommend using paper pellets or aspen shavings, it’s easier if the litter is different from the bedding so they can tell them apart :)

So I'm getting a chinchilla soon and my parents normally keep our house on 72 or 74 degrees. I have tried to get my parents to agree to keep it on 70, but sometimes parents can be stubborn. If I keep lots of tile in the cage, will my chinchilla be okay? I know it is ideal to be 70 or below, but if that is not an option, would my chin be okay if I were to keep lots of tile in the cage and DO NOT in any situation let the temperature exceed 74?

no, file does not replace the temp beinglow. please don't get a chinchilla unless you parents agree to always keep it blow 69. they would die in that heat.

Something they pee on. Yes, most of the time. I don't know the answer to that one, Hay, pellets, and water. You shouldn't use physical contact with them for a few days, only refill their hay, pellets, and water. Take everything slow. Doing one wrong thing could completely make your chinchilla lose trust. Pretty much the only thing they cam share is a cage. I recommend having individual bowls, water and hay. So, don't let them share food. Yes, you can. Yes, definitely. It is important that you are prepared for anything. You can call, email, or go up to them in person. I hope this helps you.
