    You can put a polishing pad on the shaft of the other side of the motor... FYI...

    Cheapest now on ebay £23.50 inc post from within UK, just ordered one as the motor looks exactly like the one I've just taken out a dewalt 12v DC hand drill who's gearbox was bust. If I'm right and if the Dewalt is a better quality motor I should be able to do a direct replacement of the motor and use the Dewalt trigger speed controller in line with the power. Will report back if possible and if it makes a difference.

    I have just received mine and have a different power pack with an analogue dial. Mine needed re assembly as they had the installed the drive pulley against the face of the motor and it would not turn. The belts supplied were poorly made with a large lump at the join. I have ordered some Trizac belts and some zirconium belts and hopefully they will be taped joints not the glued type. I like your idea of the bearing replacement and motor upgrade. If you do upgrade the motor please do a review. All the best

    Sure will. So far though...just changing the bearings and belt to zirconium made it infinitely better. I'm holding off on the motor upgrade and see how this lasts.

    Just ordered mine, but the 20mm belt version. already thinking of getting a replacement motor, Either a higher torque motor or an equivalent motor but brushless. Any idea what’s involved going brushless? Straight swap or would I need a motor controller? 🤔

    Any motor used in electric scooters or other BLDC secondhand or NOS on eBay will do. See my channel for the disc sander I built. Then you need a cheap BLDC motor controller...again eBay which will allow you to vary the speed infinitely between zero and the motor top rpm.

    hendjim I’ve seen a couple of motors that are straight swap into existing mounting holes. In regards to an additional motor controller I assume the easiest thing would be to leave the power pack on its highest setting and then use the motor controller to regulate the speed it runs?

  • @KT-TV

    @KT-TV

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@adambloke3050 Yes. Most BLDC motor controllers can work with a wide range of DC inputs. I haven't looked inside but I'm assuming that the basic DC block that comes with the machine is a 24VDC supply with a resistance ladder to step down this 24V to lower voltages and reduce the speed. Switch to maximum 24V and use this as the motor controller input and output to motor. The variable potentiometer on the motor controller then controls the motor with an infinitely variable speed.

    Hi I was wondering if you can help me... (I cant get hold of the seller) I'm not that knowledgeable about electronics and im having a bit of a problem I got a 15mm version of this item to help repair hobbie tools. I understand that the item takes 12V to 24V but what I don't under stand is the AMP's required for the item for proper use. Would a 1amp supply be to under powered for proper use or would a 2amp or 3amp be more appropriate. Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • @KT-TV

    The one supplied with mine was 5A and the current required by the motor varies depending on voltage delivered and the amount of pressure applied to the belt. Ohms law dictates that the lower the voltage the higher the current so if you get a variable supply like mine 12V or slow speed demands twice the current that high speed 24V demands. I would play it safe and get a 5A version so you have headroom. All this applies to my version...yours may differ.

    Depending on price they sell them with or without the charger. If yours came without the charger then you need a 12-24VDC power adaptor like this one. Make sure it comes with changeable plugs so you can be sure one fits: rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F123849357257

    Its not dogshit, it just needs some personal engineering. Replace the bearings, check the motor, tighten the screws, replace the sandpaper. Works great!
