Thank you Steve for this good Video 👍 Just a little tip. Theres a grey iron ring slidet over the motor and yours is not snaped in to the square hole, as it suposed to be. So the air vent openings are covered and the magnetic flow is not as good as it should be 😉

Most impressive Steve - and as you say, pretty nice build. Remarkable value it would seem... be quite a lot of work to make one from scratch!

Hi Chris I was thinking the same and one could use the same design, scaled up a bit to make a larger one.

That's nice. You need to add a buffer wheel to it. Very easy to attach on the motor shaft for more attachments like a cutoff wheel too!

The motor shaft looks a bit skinny for that, but via a belt to a thicker shaft would be excellent.

I fastened mine down with a G clamp to my bench and it doesn't move. Good power for a small unit but not sufficient to sent it across the worksurface when clamped. Great little bit of kit.

looks good for the price but what is happening with the Allen bolts on the bearings above and below the tool rest. they hardly seem to penetrate the lock nuts?

surely you could make a disc sander part to fit this as well? Handy for scale modellers and those who do miniature stuff as well. Now checking for materials haahaha

Hi Allen Thanks. Yes I will do a video on the hand engravers at some point if I get the time. I made all the mahogany and brass handles on a wood-turning lathe, which I haven't got now. I can still do small wood-turning jobs like this on the metal lathes though. They are great tools to make and use.

I see that the motor mounting hole pattern indicates that the motor can be rotated by 90 degrees, what benefit could this bring?

I am not quite sure if this is any better for tool sharpening so far as model engineering is concerned, than a conventional 1" belt sander but considering the amount of material in there it seems remarkable value for money. My only concern is the so called speed controller which seems to be a simple potentiometer affair . Surprising as with the availability of the cheap as chips Chinese PWM controllers from all the usual suspects. Perhaps with a better DC motor and controller the unit can earn its keep in the long run. Steve already has a decent 200W DC motor and controller which I believe was from an eBay source.

hard to tell on the video but the rollers don't look crowned. If they were would that stop the belt doing the side to side dance? are all the belts for metal sanding? Thanks Steve for all your fine efforts on these videos.

Hi Marina, The abrasive belt I have on this one is for grinding sanding most materials. I don't know whether there are abrasive belts for tungsten as I haven't had any personal experience with Tig tungsten. Regards Steve

Пользоваться подобными изделиями в 21 веке, это по меньшей мере - неприлично. В Китае не может быть качественного инструмента, к сожалению это истина. Но дизлайка не будет, меня забавляют такие видео обзоры.
