As a Solomon Islander I can say that Chinese are way more effective. When they say they will do something, you see results in 3-6 months. The same can be said for the Japanese. Australia, US and NZ also gives us alot of money but most of these goes towards "consulting services" with no actual results on the ground. Maybe Asians are just better at putting their aid money to good use.

@Noob...exactly...Australia, US and NZ also give your people a lot of money but most of those money go toward "consulting services" with no actual results on the ground.....at the end...those money went back to their consulting firms and get nothing done for the locals, the U S anher Western Aids around the world just like that....that why many countries on earth are turned to China for helps instead of the Westeran countries, especially the U S A.

It's true that they do get the job done, but it sometimes comes at the cost of cheap labor, that including skipping safety protocols when building certain structures. This doesn't mean it's always like this, but keep that in mind in case of future incidents involving projects that finish sooner than they should. I still agree with your points however. The west does take longer or flat out don't help properly with their "aid" programs.

Hmm.. I would be wary & cautious of China-made construction. Even in China it's own people are aware of poor workmanship & bad construction by China companies! They call it "Tofu dreg" where corners are cut to save costs & health n safety codes broken to speed up construction etc... only for the finished product/building/bridge/road etc to decay, crumble or fall afew years later!

This video didn’t mention that US sponsored a coup in Solomon island against the government, the government asked military help from Australia and didn’t get any, which led to the security agreement with China. In addition, Australia didn’t provide earthquake assistance and China did also speed up the pro China movement. There is always two sides of the story.

@@ssss8162 You have a good point. National sovereignty is a malleable idea. To quite a degree, all sorts of tiny regions atmospherically retain it. Think of the soccer teams of Wales and of Scotland participating in world cups, or of the de-facto recognition in many parts of the Earth of the Dalai Lama as an infallible authority although this man considers himself the head of a nation! The other way around, a person in Britain officially is the head of many areas typically included in lists of sovereign states, among them Australia. Indeed, you have those directories with the currently 195 "sovereign states". But who prints them? A look into footage from a recent conference in Samarkand with Putin, Xi, and heads of "sovereign states" which have before been parts of the Soviet Union will tell you that such latter leaders feel a lot of unease concerning their involvement with "Russia", knowing very well that Putin's war against Ukraine is largely a warning example. If they felt a group of people was close to them in nature then they would give them leeway and try to trade with them. If they felt a group of people was too different from them and that they therefore should and could be hostile to them they want MC hammer on the locals. And nobody can say this is not true. My jaw dropped as I learned Native Americans population in their motherland, the Continent of America before European Colonizers arrived was around 15 millions, while the European population in their motherland, the Continent of Europe was around 25 millions. - Today, Native American population in their motherland is 15 million, while the European population, in the Continent of America + Europe, is a staggering 'TWO BILLIONS'! A sad truth. The fact that notorious Anglo Western clans are major participants & benefactors of Colonization worldwide, stretching from North America, the land rightfully belongs to indigenous Native American people to Australia/New Zealand in Asia-Pacific, the land rightfully belongs to Native people of Asia Pacific region. - May I ask if Anglo West have any laws at all for dealing with past and present notorious global cardinal crimes like Slavery, Colonialism & Colonization of vast bountiful resourceful Continents, such as North America, which rightfully belongs to indigenous Native Americans, and to Australia and New Zealand in Asia-Pacific region, which rightfully belongs to Native people of Asia Pacific? - In my humble opinion, it's about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return it to rightful owners. Remember, notorious global cardinal sins & crimes the Anglo West has committed and benefited a great deals, such as Slavery and Colonialism had long been over, why on earth is notorious Colonization still lingering on? 😔 -mamajune3864

Partly agree. While that is true, if you were to look around, the companies that have invested in Singapore stems mainly from US & Europe. Way more than China. What is in Singapore’s best interest to the balance between the West & China. Singapore should neither be 100% for China or like you say “advocating the threat of Singapore investment”. And in that light, I wonder why it was not as objective in this video too - the rhetorics are biased against Chinese without a good balance of what the West did and did not do. Singapore needs to stay more objective while not trying to appear to placate either sides.

I sailed to Gizo in the Soloman Islands from Micronesia. Most of the people were incredibly poor. Unlike the "Empire of Chaos" as Pepe Escobar refers to the USA, China invests money in infrastructure in many Pacific Island States. I've seen it myself in Tonga and now I know of it in the Solomon Islands. When I was sailing out of Gizo to Australia there was a $25 customs clearance fee for the yacht. They couldn't find the 'receipt' book, so they waved the fee. I said, "Just take the money and don't worry about the receipt"! The incredibly honest Customs officer said "I'm not allowed to accept cash without a receipt" ! A few years later I was speaking at a climate change conference in Wellington and met the delegate from the Solomon Islands I bought all his beers because he wouldn't take the money either! Very honourable people from my experience. They know they can't trust the empire.

Don't be surprised to see English channels talking about China. Let's ask the host: when the Angsa people first set foot in Malaysia in the 14th century, Kuala Lumpur changed from a city with 100000 people to a city with 20000 people a year later. When the Onsa set foot in Australia.... When the Onsa set foot on the American continent, an Indian country with at least 20 million people, the Maya people suddenly disappeared? The Indians taught the Onsa pirates to grow corn and sweet potatoes. When the Indians exchanged gold filled with two prisons for the king, the pirates killed the Indian king. Then the Onsa told us that Indians had no civilization... China recorded friendly trade ties with Iran, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines 2000 years ago. Has China ever had conflicts with these countries since 2000? Yes, when the Onsa came

Japan was not a friend, neither were Europeans during colonization, neither will China be friendly once this huge investment of China is made. What is absolutely sure, is that island officials are deeply corrupted by Chinese investment. Look at the terrible real estate crash in China now, the islands will be sucked into this. Your comment is that of a troll, not of someone who has listened to the outrage of islanders who know their corrupt prime minister will use Chinese money and Chinese soldiers to maintain power.

Because the world is a small place. Because what the past tells us. Ie The battles in the Solomons prevented invasion of Australia. Same counts for today. A sovereign country, like the Solomons must realize that allowing armed Chinese there, they open the door. Who would suffer the most once China and Australia gets to fight? The Solomons, as Australia wouldn't be able to afford China stationing its military there. The game now is "how to get aid from China and Australia" by playing them off against each other. But the game can change quickly into China and Australia ignoring Solomons and facing each other on those very islands. So, that's why "outsiders worry" and Solomon Islanders should realize that they should start worrying too, because they can get trapped in the middle and get bombs instead of help because of a misunderstanding between the CCP and Australia and them not being considered in the argument. Commerce should be welcomed. Samoa's ex prime Minister says "why would China's military come to a small island like Samoa?" How come he doesn't understand geopolitics? The CCP is a threat because it wants to change everything and with change comes uncertainty and possible miscalculation and misunderstanding and desperation and conflict and war. Why are they building such a big military?

It's in the western interests like US, Australia and allies to keep the Pacific islands under developed, poor and disunited so that they beholden to them and dependent on their charity and labour - as well as to convert them politically and spiritually (missionaries) like their ancestorial colonists did. An independent an self-supporting nation with its own views of national development and destiny would pose a threat to them. They feel even threatened with the islander proclamation of "friends to all and enemy to none". Basically they want these islands to be under their sphere of influence - no more no less.

Interesting. I think you may be on to the right path by saying. Samoans work together. Identifying the lack of Value chains are easy. What is not easy? Is to convince the culture to change ..... To identify the culture requires to identify where value is lacking and to make the "give" to others in exchange for dollars. Wealth builds when the culture is able to scale their give and to hire others to help achieve the scale upwards..... It's amazing even in our western society. People who work for min wage....get upset for getting so few dollars per hour. Yet. They too have failed to recognize the value they give in their job is only limited to a min wage description. The more value given the higher the wage. A higher wage cannot be achieved without investing in education

So no the western world will not invest in you because there is nothing you can offer them that they can't already take. And they do not want to do it either. They want China to stop going around the world trying to invest in poor global south countries. It's ruining their jam. The system they setup was working just fine for them. And they feel and think that China has no right to come mess everything up.

Explain to the audient, the 9.8 million Chinese killed. 10s of millions killed during cultural revolution. Tian An Man massacre by the ccp army by the thousand. communist Chinese is cruel, vicious scheming , lying murderer is a historical fact NOT a propaganda. I would challenge any one who said otherwise. Their diplomats in Germany, AZ openly when quiz by journalist they will reeducate Taiwan people when they take over the country. This is on the record. !!

The best job resume is by looking each countries on how they treat the indigenous in the past.

When the United States talks about "rules-based international order," it actually means "an international order based on U.S. hegemonic control." So when the United States wants other countries to abide by the "rules-based international order", it is actually coercing other countries to submit to the rules imposed by the US hegemony, NOT by International Law. Under this "rule-based international order" Whatever war crime, illegal invasion, assignation, regime chance, coercion, ethnic cleansing, bombing, murder etc done by American are legal, American are exempted from any legal action in any court and NO action can be taken against any American citizen involved. Whatever same act done by the country or citizen of other countries; they are liable AND MUST BE PUNISHED. usa CAN build 800 Military base at other country but NOT other country, US can put as many Nuclear bomb on other countries soil but NOT Russia or China, USA and its allies can build as many nuclear bomb as they like BUT NOT North Korea, Iran, Venezuela and others.

Climate change is one of the most pressing political, economic and environmental issues of our time. It demands honest and timely collective global actions. Despite the ever-rising environmental catastrophes that are occurring around the world from destructive hurricanes, cyclones and flooding to sea level rise, coastal erosion, drought, fire, and sea acidification, there are climate change deniers who argue that climate change is not posing the kind of danger that is being put forward. Yet, if the global community does not take drastic measures now, climate change could result in many of the Pacific island nations being wiped from the map of the world in the not so distant future. The small island nations of the Pacific region are more vulnerable to the acute effects of climate change than any other region in the world. Most of these volcanic islands are barely a few metres above sea level (ADB, 2019). Ocean level rise amongst other climatic changes is threatening the very existence of these geographically isolated and small land masses. ‘The rising scale and the intensity of storm surges, saltwater intrusion and coastal destruction of the past decades have decimated coping capacities, leaving island populations with failing crops, crippling water shortages and an uncertain future’ (Hassan and Cliff, 2019). The existential threat of environmental change is irrefutably claiming land and human lives year-in and year-out. Furthermore, for many
