That's because U.S. treasuries are the safest and give back the best returns. Unlike Chinese treasuries that have low returns and are very risky. Now that China's economy is collapsing, all of their bonds are going to be downgraded to junk status and fall in price by at least 50%. All countries with Chinese loans should get together and refuse to pay back all Chinese loans. They are slowly being cut off from the world anyways. Soon China will be a large North Korea.

Recent study found that China's bail outs are designed to protect its own banks. China is very selective about the loans it bails out and it bails out only those loans that maximize the pay-back return to its banks. China does NOT bail out loans based on how badly the country that took the loan needs help. That is, China does not care how dire of a situation that country is in. Indeed, China is somewhat likely to bail out a country if it is in a truly dire situation.

The risk of lending is not getting repaid. It looks like a debt trap to bully borrowers, but it also could deliver losses to the lender. Normally a good borrower is a borrower who does not need a loan.

But of course the inability to repay is not a risk but a certainty. If interest is charged, the debt is always larger than the capital available to repay it. Even if interest is not charged, the notion that "development" will always produce surpluses sufficient to service the investment is fundamentally flawed. China has always aimed at mimicking western development but that development is only profitable so long as there is an "undeveloped" world (in capitaist terms) to provide cheap raw materials and an undebted population able to buy those surplus goods. It is a materially unsustainable model and always was.

US can tax its way out of debt with tax revenue of 26% that is way below develop country..Its problem is political in that all it has to tax the rich a bit more.. China simply has a weaker tax base as most of people money is tied up in real estate that takes 35 years of income to pay, while in US it takes 5 years.. People only see debt at the federal level but in turns of overall debt, and relative to wealth,China is in much worse position.

Bottom line is China's reviving their economy by creating win win business ventures vs US is making money through wars. Your pick. Also, even though China is still slightly behind US at the moment, don't forget where they came from. They lifted 1.2 billion people out of poverty in mere three decades! That is, according to national bank standard of measurements, 70% of the world poverty. How long do you think it'll take for them to surpass US? The underlying truth is that India is jealous of China's rise and it shows. Any company that lends money deserves to lose if they do not lend responsibly. This is true all over the World and even in India. The Chinese Govt is not stupid so I would expect they have all the bases covered. Of course if the World economy collapses then there will be a problem. but not only for China... every country will be affected

China curtailed loans to some countries during the past 3 yrs. It may be in a tight spot now, but projections probably showed it in advance. It's therefore a matter of how to bridge it. We have to understand, China is not in the charity business, services delivered have to be paid for. Huge amounts of international debt has been written off in the past. That seems to have stopped. China is not the only country in debt, they did stock up in precious minerals + will be able to get over it.

Palki had been talking China about to collapse financially and economically since Evergrande was closed down. After 2 years , China is still strong both in financial and economic growth, today more countries around the world are joining China’s BRI investments. It is a big story teller that continues to do so, no body would believe except Indians love to hear bad things about China.

Just compare - China has given 240 billions to 22 countries in 20 years, to build some inftastructure. The US has given 140 billions to Ukraine in one year, to buy weapons and wage war. And the size of Chinese and American economies is comparable. I mean, there obviously can be problems for China, but I would never believe that their economy gonna collapse because of that. And now, look what is happening with American banking system. It's collapsing right now. I understand that India is in a competition with China, but let's be honest, Chinese are in much better shape than many others. Greetings from Moscow, we ❤️ India!
