Wrong, Japan paid market price for oils from Russia, in the first two months of this year, the oil price has been lingering around 70 dollars. Now the OPEC + is reducing their oil output, oil is now around 80 dollars and this would be he price Japan will pay as the market dictates. japan and South Korea take side with US, so why Russia would give them discounts.

To put things in perspective, in Jan-Feb India bought Russian oil for about 4.1 billion and Japan for 0.05 billion dollars. At the same time EU purchases were down by 90% which led to Russia's income from fossil fuels to fall by 46%.

I really wish they could buy from Russia twice as much. Nothing drains Putin's budget more than the Chinese and Indian oil prices. We don't need it. Just got a great deal with other suppliers. America uses them as an unsinkable aircraft carrier, but as soon as Japan's economy rivaled the US's (like in the 80s) America took steps to hurt them. America likes to say that the army here is for Japan's protection, and that's easy to say when no one is threatening to invade Japan. But really it's all about spheres of influence and keeping Japan under their thumb. That's not what friends do.

They first asked USA about it.. since Canada denied the discounted oil to Japan and USA couldn't provide any alternative to Japan... Thus Japan was forced to buy Russian oil

On the other hand, Japan has no back bones of its own. Japan has been driven into submission by the US since Japan was defeated for its war aggression.

Japan would be well advised to virorously work towards expelling all foreign forces from their land and foster good relations with China and Russia. I think that in order for BRICS to really move forward, China and India need to come to some kind of agreement regarding their border dispute. Both sides will need to compromise a bit. The cost of compromise will be more than made up for from the benefits of deepened cooperation.
