i was on the exact same flight. China Eastern was a good air carrier for the price. Seat space was a little tighter than I'd have liked, not many movies, but the food wasn't bad. In fact, the beef noodles I had were great, and I enjoyed the Chinese version of Cola. The staff were kind. I'm planning to go back to the UK again next year and I might take them again, or Asiana who are a bit better.

I flew China Eastern, Boeing 777-300ER last June from Shanghai to London and the flight is okay, 11 and a half hours, but the cabin is hot because there is no air vent.

I used this route back in 2019.

I’m glad it helped! Yes there is a gap but you can use it to store more of your personal belongings instead. You can still get gorgeous views out of the window

did you have to transfer to another china eastern in PVG? If so, was it an easy experience. Also did you check in a bag?

unfortunately I did not experience the transit at PVG, but according to many people online it is efficient, simple and fast. China Eastern also let economy class passengers check-in 1 piece of luggage that can weigh up to 23kg.

What date did you film? How many hours did you sleep on the plane? How much did you pay to fly China Eastern? And is that your 1st time flying China Eastern and how is it?

I filmed in December of 2023, I got about 3 hrs of sleep on the way to Shanghai because it was a daytime flight but on the way back it's a midnight flight, so I got 8hrs of sleep. I forgot how much it was, but don't book too early or too late.

Hi! I have the same trip as you coming up in April however my Shanghai destination is a layover into Japan. I've also booked with China Eastern and I did so directly. I was wondering if you did the same and could share some more about the experience as I am a first time flyer and frankly clueless

Hi @warrenw5040, i am not sure whether it is easy to transit at Shanghai Pudong or not as I myself have also not experienced it but many people online say that it is efficient and simple. Also, keep in mind that China Eastern may not be using their Boeing 777-300er from Gatwick in April, it is most likely the service will be operated by the A330-200, which has an economy layout of 2-4-2. Some tips and advice; remember to bring your own headphones if you have them, they will make a huge difference onboard when watching films (but make sure they are wired/can be connected to the screen via a wire). Having lip balm also helps due to the dry cabin. I hope this has helped and you enjoy your flight! Any queries please ask.

@@bobezdilyes usually there is :) I’m doing the same journey as the commenter above. your bags should be transported automatically but you need to go through security and get your passport checked again.

China Eastern haven't dropped the 777, they use the A330 during less busier times and then when demand increases, the 777 is put back on the route
