Chimney Pipe Installation for Wood Stove through roof

Chimney Pipe Installation for Wood Stove through roof.
Installing a wood burning stove vent pipe through the roof for this homeowner. He did all the wood stove install inside and through his ceiling but was unsure of the roof part. This is a stainless steel triple wall chimney pipe suited for the high temperatures. I believe it was DuraVent brand.

Don’t stress about it, electronics are not perfect. Narration worked well. I learned some things from your video. Good job!

This is the most informative video covering wood burning stove installation through the roof chimney kit as a DIY homeowner. This is invaluable information and I thank you for sharing it. You have helped me immensely, friend.

Doing this on a professional level for crematoriums we used red top end engine silicone on the flange. not sure if wood burning stoves need that but it helps to keep the moisture out if water runs down the chimney.

Hey Brother, no apologies necessary. Very informative. Narration works just fine as well. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Great job!

Narrating is fine it's the technique of finishing up with the shingles that's critical for leakproof and wind prevention. Great video.

I enjoy the running commentary. I like to know the "why" to do stuff, not just the "what" to do. You're always going to run into situations that are new and unique and if you know "why", then you can adapt your thinking to cover a previously unknown situation. I've got a couple of stove chimneys to do this month, and this is good to see. Like you say, I'm always in "learn" mode. I'm nearly 70 years old and I'm not too proud to learn new stuff. Please keep up your good work!

Gotta say thank you for the video! While I didn't end up doing as professional a job as you, I did use your video as a guide to install my pipe and flashing. We had a good rain the other day and not a single drop off water in the attic. Many thanks!

Narration was fine, perfect - both ways are good, and it gives variety to use both.

Good job budd. Looks good. And you did good on salvaging the video as the narrator.

This is how it should be done by a homeowner. Do the downstairs work yourself, save the $ on the install, then call the roofing professional in to make the penetration through the roof and let him make sure it is flashed & shingled properly. I have seen so many DIY'ers that really tried to do a good job on a wood stove vent, but missed the small stuff like tucking the brace brackets under a shingle and instead, they nailed it right on top of the shingle into the roof deck. So rather than screwing with proper embedment into the top chord of a truss and getting excellent tension values, they're expecting a simple nail through a shingle into 1/2" deck to withstand the multi-directional wind forces on the vent. Then they're expecting the dab of silicone caulk on top of the nail head to give them water tight conditions. There's way more to this and Brian, you make it look easy. Cheers to you

Great video, that's a great looking install and nice vent stack system. A mentor once told me after a training presentation I'd given, "Folks aren't here for a slick talkin' presenter, they're here to see you, so just be yourself." That's given me a big confidence boost. That's a long winded way of saying: we enjoy your commentary whether it's real time or voice-over. Thanks for the great content you're putting out!

As someone with years experience as well. I agree with 99% of the way you do things and the explanations you give. This is not only good for diy homeowners but could almost be a training vid for new employers.
