I don't know why but I find these animations have so much more soul than most common animations.

It reminds me of when I lived in seattle Id stay up all night on fridays to go driving at 1 or 2 in the morning running a loop along the 90 405 5 freeways driving in circles pushing my car to the limits when there was no traffic for no other reason to go fast just to feel alive. Looking at the lights in downtown as I drove by. Stopping at the same gas station to get monsters to drink so I didnt fall asleep at the wheel. Sitting in the parking lot by alkai staring at the skyline. Contemplating life. With a phone full of text messages I sent that never got replies and calls that all got sent to voicemail. Always alone. I always did these highway "runs" by myself and the funny part is I was alone but I loved it. I miss driving in circles with no destination just going and only stopping when I got to tired to keep my eyes open. There was no greater feeling than redlining 3rd gear as you come flying down the on ramp to the freeway with the window down and there would be this moment where everything would be so loud around me the sound of the car moving along the pavement the exhaust note screaming right before you hit the rev limiter the wind blowing and just for a second with all this noise everything in my mind went silent and anything I was thinking about was gone and I just stared out as I drove past and saw the sea of lights that made up the city and it was fucking beautiful...

It's called longing, and most of us feel it from time to time. I feel it when I see spaceships, because that's where I really want to be. The freedom of pioneering among the stars, of not being trapped on Earth by people too timid to let go of the past and doing everything they can to prevent the future. I want to be free of all that, the wallowing with what came before, the denial of wisdom from the hardship we went through so the guilty can now be innocent and tyranny can be seen as Progress. Just let me fly among the stars and be done with the mundanity of short-sighted minds that still think the 1400s were the best time in human history. There's an entire universe to see, and my only regret is that I will die before it ever happens. I was born too soon.

This music connects me to a moment in 2005. I lived in Tampa, Florida at the time. Tampa is located on a peninsula in the middle of a large bay. There are very long bridges spanning across the water connecting to St. Petersburg. I remember, I was driving at night in late February across one of the longer bridges. My windows were down and my sunroof was open. The air was humid but mild almost cool. It swirled through the cabin in constant but gentle gusts. All around me the water was pitch black, with only the occasional buoy or boat light giving the impression of distant stars in the inky darkness. The nothingness stretched in every direction for miles. In front, off in the distance, I could see the lights of the buildings downtown. Behind me I could see the muted glow of the St. Pete suburbs. There were few, if any, other cars on the road with me. But regardless, I felt completely alone. Not lonely, or abandoned, or neglected, but present in the moment with only myself. To say I felt content is an oversimplification. It was fulfillment in idleness, but a yearning for activity. Excitement in existence, yet acceptance of mortality. I no longer remember where I had been that night, or even returning home. I only remember the moment. This music does not remind me of that moment, I could not tell you what if anything I had playing on radio that night. This music returns me to that moment, sailing through the night.

I'd really love to just go out for a drive in the middle of the night just for the hell of it. There's something freeing about feeling the air rush past you, knowing that there's nothing but the open road ahead of you. There are always people awake deep in the night, but we're all isolated from each other, in our own cars or our own homes. We are aware of each other, even if we can't see each other... and there's a sense of quiet camaraderie in that.

It was in it's infancy then but what Marty said is accurate, the wiki on Synthwave goes into more detail and is an interesting read. I think it's also reasonable to say this genre was influenced at least somewhat by Ambient music dating back to the 60's-70's.

This is the only playlist that stays open on my chrome, 24/7, walking me through ....both nostalgic and futuristic paths....life is a mystery. a beautiful one.

i found these playlists in a dark time, and although i feel like i am late to a party i was never invited to, i got pulled in by the waves of music that make me ache in places i did not know i had. i've been listening to electric/chillwave/melodlic/synthwave music all my life...strange how youtube comments tend to be peaceful & full of good vibes....where people can drop there guard & be real......you can just go anywhere else on youtube & look at the constant argumentative negative vibes & i know why i LOVE this genre & the type of people who love it too. My type of people who stare at the stars & chat round campfires..

I went to school in the 80’s. It was as amazing as this music is for the imagination. A wonderful time that has not been matched. People of all types loved sharing good times together. What happened? I’m still hoping the youth can find that type of vibe once again and run with it like wild horses...free yo mind :)

Every so often I come back to this mix, on special nights when I have a little time to myself - sometimes just before bed to settle down, sometimes on troubled nights I need to take some space, sometimes a late shift on the job. Beautiful mix. As an alt rock and metal person, I must say, my impression of DnB music has changed for the better with chillstep, chill-wave and the likes.

This music make us go to that time that doesnt have space, dimenson or galaxy...

And this is the good way to put in ads! They knew that most people would either fall asleep before them or love the music so much they will stay anyway. Thank you so much!

I've grown a love for this genre from the intense but comforting nostalgia the tunes evoke. So good.

Glad we can comment here. People say "dont feel alone, we're all here together" which is easy so say, but when you're staring at a screen with nothing but organized pixels its hard to feel. At least there are comments actually here vs being disabled... that always makes a video so much weirder. We're already in a state of such disassociation.. taking away interaction sucks.
