Just breaks my heart to see how our government does nothing for citizens of the US, but yet sends billions to other countries. With all the empty malls and buildings out there, why can't our government make accommodations for our homeless so they are in a warm place instead of the cold streets? Denver native here. On 38th and lipan, I tried to offer a warm ride to a shelter, but every homeless person refused as they didn't want to lose what little they had. Even if heated space was open 24 hours, most homeless people won't go unless they can take all their possessions with them.

This isn't entirely true, the economy is good enough to allow most people to afford housing simply by splitting the bill between multiple roommates. The people who are living on the street could do this, but they don't because they have bigger problems - drug addiction, alcohol abuse, mental impairment, and a vast array of other unfortunate afflictions that the simple act of housing will not remedy.

What Satan doesn't say is this will litterally create Hell on Earth, and this is what we are seeing in these blue cities - drug stores are being robbed to the point where they go out of buisness and sick people can no longer get medicine. People are stealing and cheating and lying so much that they are taking their own lives out of despair often by ODing on drugs. 110,000 deaths by drug OD in US in 2022 and increasing every year.

This is not just a problem in Denver. It is nationwide. America is a dying country. I would lay money that the vast majority of these people are NOT illegals. You and I are both one step away from living in those tents as well. It's amazing to witness America in its final decay. Judging and blaming is never going to solve or change a thing. FEAR is what breeds blame. We are all in this together. Don't ever forget that.

Those people in the tents must be frozen! I recall when my city had a power outage several years ago. No heat, no running water, no light, couldn't boil water for a hot cup of coffee, couldn't heat up food to eat, couldn't flush the toilet. Couldn't watch tv, or talk on my phone. It was awful those three days. Even sleeping in bed with my clothes and coat and gloves on, I froze.

You read that wrong. The warming shelters are open from 7PM to 7AM. Still, it's a very sad situation.

So many empty buildings and offices where people could be sheltered. We need to work more compassionately to serve every ones' needs.

While in the military, we had to sleep in tents while in Korea during the winter. I froze my azz off even with a cot and sleeping bag. I don't know how they can survive a Colorado winter.

I would go but; I'm waiting for the movie.

At 6:58 mark, I was down there 3 weeks ago and the city was trashing all the tents into roll-offs. It pops back up as quickly as they take them down.

Thank God if you have a roof over your head and aren't sleeping on the cold, hard, ground, under a bridge. Thank Him for food on your table, clean water to cook with, wash your body, clothing, and to drink. Thank Him for transportation. That you can walk, talk, and go to the bathroom by yourself. Our nation has come to this because we haven't made leaders accountable. Now they think they own the place. I need one of those govt jobs. Complaints won't change anything. It just generated the negativity that Satan feeds off of.

@@conceptobject I'm a animal lover & admit some animals r better then humans ,but show a little humanity to people that r freezing, in Pittsburgh, Pa.we spend 40 million for our homeless in the winter & r building more shelters when the weather gets frigid they come in but some don't want to. I wish I knew the answer it's getting worse in Pittsburgh too. But setting a certain temperature that would freeze a person in 20min.is not the answer.

All the Taxes we pay, all the money we send to other countries,could easily slove this problem! America 1st!!!!!!!!!

These micro communities are going to tear apart neighborhoods. Basically, they're encampments that will never go away. The city tried to set one up in my neighborhood and, fortunately, our neighborhood kept it out.

Your wish will never happen. Biden doesn't see this as well as most politicians. Where I live, there a plenty of dairy farms and some state politicians when touring a farm for some law they want to pass, couldn't stand the smell of the barns. Milk comes from the store you know.

Just looking at this makes me shiver & cold. This is upsetting to see knowing our people can’t receive help but ppl not from here can get $5’000 & a free plane ticket. SMH

At least the new mayor is trying to do something. So far 300 homeless people have been housed. He is getting ready to house several hundred more as older hotels have been redone. Don't think the illegals are part of that deal, they should probably just go home.

They do not go to the shelters because of the rules. No drugs, no alcohol, no pets, no weapons, you must present as being sober of all substances for admittance. At the end of the day, the folks in this video represent the majority of Denver's homeless who would rather sleep out in the cold then submit to being told what to do and how to live.

@@sylviathompson100 Eat it Sylvia. When I was homeless here I didn't have a dog, so I could and did go to the shelter. If I happens again, homelessness, I'll be on the street with my dog. Not a drunk, addict etc, just old and disabled. There were a lot of disabled and old the shelter. A lot of old veterans. Piece of fecal matter.

Where I live the rents that were $800 three years ago are now $1200 - there's going to be a ton of people on the streets all over the place. The upside? The Judges are generously allowing 14 days to vacate from the court date. :)

😢 you invited them and now you need to take care of them 😮

A lot of them are spending more than $100 a day for drugs, why should the taxpayers pick up the bill for housing and food??

Thanks for giving us a glimpse of what’s going on in Denver. I’m a New Yorker and I’m sure your aware of what’s happening here.

I'm a veteran and have worked 2jobs in nursing over 25 years. Social security is only $1100.00 a month. And average slum apartment is $1800.00 a month. Demand the federal government to raise social security. We are suffering here in Portland Oregon. Rent is to high. It takes months to get into 55 and older housing.

I’m going to assume that most of the people who are living in those tents are unemployed; live on public assistance.

I would think if they are on assistance they would be looking for a place to stay and maybe could afford it...unless they weren't working outside the home for part of their life...I suppose some don't had a big enough Soc.Sec. check if they were raising kids & only one spouse working outside the home...is that what has happened to some people???

You can't get public assistance without a physical address. No PO box will do it either

how many of them could just get off drugs and go back home? Most of them have family that could and probably have helped, but they choose to live in squalor on the streets because they refuse to get clean. Eff them. I say make them all wards of the state and get some free labor out of them since they have chosen to be a burden instead of being a productive human being.

Very critical situation for Americans i never imagined what is happening in all the cities.

Humans really only care about themselves when you really look at it. I have 5 brothers. Only 1 of them has ever helped me when I needed it. The other 4 could care less. That's why I avoid family

Notice how there's still a hierarchy as you would have in any community with the big tents surrounded by the smaller tents. Even in poverty human nature still revolves around status and hierarchy.

City hall has warmth, the fire department has warmth, the police station has warmth. All of these services are for the people and when your civics does you service and remember you the citizen are the one in control stuff starts getting done. Stop giving the city money to spend on big salaries and dry up public services. These people need a hand up, not a hand out. It’s sad America is better than these progressive people in charge of some of our cities.

They can always just leave Denver it's not a brick wall keeping them there. A mega bus ticket costs $2 and will take you anywhere in the country. Small towns are still cheap. Rent is $300 in West Helena Arkansas and the Amazon Factory sends a bus to get you to and from work.

I seriously doubt that the huge majority of people suffering in those tents are illegals. There may be a few, but not many. The majority in those tents are Americans down on their luck.

The homeless should gather together some greyhound fare and head to Los Angeles or San Francisco .. same tent lifestyle and without the cold.
