Seeing what has become of Denver is sad. Growing up there in the 1970's and 1980's was a delight. But an incident that happened to me in 2019 forced me to say goodbye. I was on my way home from work when a homeless person on the 16th St. Mall asked me for some money. I politely told him I didn't have any. He became very angry and slashed my arm with his pocketknife. I moved to Phoenix primarily because it's not that far away (14 hour drive). I drove up to Denver this past August and the homeless problem has gotten worse. Phoenix has a bad homeless problem too but the city will not let the homeless set up tents in front of your house like I saw in many parts of Denver. Homelessness is a complex problem with different causes but the politicians in Denver have added fuel to the fire.

Homelessness is not as big problem in conservative cities, but there is an explanation for it. The main reason for homelessness is fentanyl, and other drugs addiction believe it or not. If you do not believe me, you can find Michael Shellenberger's interviews here on KZread. Liberal cities have laws that attract homeless because addicts can support their addiction there more easily. The main one is you are allowed to steal from stores for up to $950 in Cali, and no one will bother you, police will not even come even if they had an officer available. In my town the law says you can steal up to $500 worth of items, and that nothing, so there are no as many homeless like in Cali but we have almost as good camping weather as southern Cali. I go to Texas, and they do not have such law that you can just steal from stores as you wish, so their addicts migrates to the west coast where they can simply support their addiction. Stealing from stores, they call it boosting.
@noreenryan1095

I agree with your comment. Most homelessness is due to drug addiction and mental illness brought on by drugs. That's why I have little sympathy for the homeless who are homeless by choice so they can continue their drug use. However, I know that some people became homeless because of job loss, illness, or other reasons. But, I think the majority are drug addicts.

P *4 of 4* The homeless can simply move the tents they are using now into the homeless-village. *Or the **_Shelter 100,_** provided by FEMA,* is a $9,500 shelter that is climate controlled, built in one hour, is 100 sq. ft., and uses a folding bunk system to house up to four beds. *_Pallet Shelter's_* private sleeping cabins offer *security* and durability. Which addresses the concerns of the homeless who reject the restrictions of “bed-only” homeless-shelters; for only one night.

The _Bathroom_ cost $35,000 and the _Services Office_ costs $9,000. me and my wife came to Denver with a(( friend)) was supposed to get a place he take the money left us stranded I got there two days after this video was filmed I was homeless the entire month of May because I couldn't get resources to get to somewhere where I would have friends and family because everything was taken and my small time in Denver I watched a man beat the holy heck out of his girlfriend because she spoke a different language than him when she was stressed out on my birthday of May 6th somehow later that month not only was I outside and stranded I walked all the way 50 miles outside of Denver to try to get help by the time a State trooper found me and my wife walking he informed us that we were not allowed to do this and drove us all the way back in the Denver more specifically right outside of Aurora the only place that helped me I believe is closed this guy is not joking there really is nothing there for you I couldn't find a bathroom nine times out of 10 most people get mad at homeless people for not having a decent place to go to the bathroom but I can tell you what from my experience I didn't wantto use the bathroom outside there's really nowhere for you to go and most people get to go to the bathroom in their own house whatever hours strikes their fancy if there's no store nearby you have no money and you have to go to the bathroom how are you supposed to go?? I tried going to the mental hospital for help both of us the moment they realize I had no home and why my current predicament got me there I was faking trama and didn't need help I was told at 2am with my wife get out get a job do you know no place will hire you if you have an address anytime soon someone suggests to you to get a job when you're homeless it's literally like asking someone without a plane to get a pilot's license and fly their playing the same day. we as a society having disrespectful view of the situations we don't have to go through but you never know how someone got to their situation until you're in a situation quite similar luckily I eventually found a place in Denver that got me out of there my situation didn't get much worse it didn't get much better but I will say by the month of July I had my own one bedroom apartment in Bangor Maine though because Denver is such a lousy system for assistance they told me they did not have the money to get me all the way to Bangor so I got dropped off at Boston I arrived at the Boston terminal Greyhound station at 12:45 at night I then proceeded to walk from Boston Massachusetts through Salem all the way to Bangor Maine down The Greenway trail. someone once told me you can make excuses or you can make results but you can't make both. for anyone currently going through the homeless crisis I highly recommend you check out the Aurora crisis center if you get in I highly recommend you work the program you only get one month but if you're smart you can make that one month get you out of a bad situation it's all I needed I wasn't even there two weeks. if you're lucky and you're in Denver on certain days you can find places that will give you food you're only panhandling should probably be for a hotel room and if you have at least a reparable way of dealing with yourself I do recommend going to the motel 6 off of federal you can get your hotel room there for less than $100 more often than not and if you really do have access money I highly recommend you have to head to the Little Caesars and get yourself food it's not glamorous but it's an idea and it's a game plan and it worked for me. Colorado is a pipe dream you're showing what you're wanted to see Colorado has vastly turned into Oakland California from my personal experience cities you don't want to be homeless in Denver Colorado Oakland California Las Vegas Nevada Boston Massachusetts Salem Massachusetts. most of the other ones in the world go without saying

And my brother lives in Utah and he said there is a serious problem with homeless Vets, who he has been trying to help, so I am sure there are others that are homeless too, I really didn't think to ask him in our short conversation.
I used to live in Denver and it was nice until the mid 90's, that's when CA started invading. I lived there for 35 years. John Elway is the man and we loved our Bronco's back then. I moved out about 6 years ago, housing cost's just got too ridiculous and the people got real weird after marijuana was legalized, too many people! Moved to denver 2003. Sold and left 2019. A city ruined I consider myself lucky to have gotten out before the campers hit the suburbs.
@noreenryan1095

I agree with your comment. Most homelessness is due to drug addiction and mental illness brought on by drugs. That's why I have little sympathy for the homeless who are homeless by choice so they can continue their drug use. Fire Biden, he has lost his head completely and utterly, trump is worse. when Americans find a decent leader well, there are none out there period but that rule is absurd.
The McDonald's restroom is not a "public" bathroom. It is inside a private establishment for the convenience of paying customers. Making a small purchase is customary in these situations.
I wish we'd distinguish between drug addicted/mentally ill folks resisting treatment and true homeless people.

Bums really make it hard for homeless people who want change as much as politicians who profit off this
P 1 of 4* Cities can eliminate homeless tent cities by replacing them with *homeless-communities* using _Pallet Shelter's_ existing *homeless shelter village components.* The _Community Room_ sells for $37,000 and serves as a shared laundry room, restaurant, *child daycare center,* and addiction services center. The _Bathroom_ cost $35,000 and the _Services Office_ costs $9,000. So for only $81,000 a city can establish a *homeless village.* The 10'X10' *Camping Cube Sport Pop Up Tent* costs only $120 and provides protection from the elements.

An a specific store you drove by on colfax next to the mlk library provides alcohol an tobacco to minors with no I.D is another reason that area is frequented.
this the truth for all American cities. sadly they don't want to build homes for the homeless.
I had a layover in Denver Union Station. While waiting for the connecting train I went to get dinner. There was a homeless kid in a restaurant that got caught stealing tips off table. Denver Union Station is beautiful as far as architecture goes, but I didn't want to be there any longer than I had to.
This is a city with almost no duckoff spots. Even so whole villages pop up in the only secluded out of the way low maintenance areas.
Where do they go when it snows?
F of Parts A-F The homeless-shelters are powered and heated with butane and solar-panels, depending on how well the infrastructure held up, which are integrated into the construction of the *temporary* _homeless-shelters._ Which are a dry, clean place to sleep, and store their stuff. People from the city drive out to the homeless-communities to pick up food bank food; because that is where the food banks and free-ice machines are located.
So ,,, anyone carrying a backpack is a homeless?
Our homeless population has increased dramatically under our former Mayor Hancock, who grew up here and was raised in Denver. He has fought aggressively for Denver to be a sanctuary city and has allowed hundreds and hundreds of migrants here as well while crime rates have increased all over the city. It's ashamed, when I arrived in Denver in the 70's, it was a beautiful and clean city for it's size.
We all pay the price for homeless people ☹
*Section 2 of 3.* 7/28/2022 in Buckhorn, Kentucky there is historic flooding creating more climate-refugees; exacerbating the housing shortage. 7/29/2022 All the residents of Fish Pond, Kentucky have lost everything due to flood waters reaching the roofs of homes. So St. Louis, Buckhorn, Fish Pond, and Austin have lots of vacant land a 30 minute bus ride from the city. Where shelters provided by FEMA are established into campgrounds for 1,000 homeless families. PAR
I think they should have a control to rent. the government has to put limits on the landlords. and so many people could rent and maintain their home
@really5453

Government needs to stop printing money without lending it to the people. That's where the landlords keep raising the rent
I think private security companies are doing a better job of removing homeless encampments from certain areas than local police depts are
Hope everything's Ok!❤

they have dismantled almost all public bathrooms. there used to be bathrooms all over the place, but they got shut down around the time "stoner hill," was cracked down on. the police have not stopped the open air market in civic center park.
P *2 of 4* Cities are spending millions of dollars to open and run homeless bed shelters; that the homeless reject due to the many restrictions and lack of security. _Pallet Shelter's_ two person _Shelter 64_ cost only $7,000 and provides a dignified, secure sleeping base of operation. So for only $201,000 [$120 tents] a city can establish and run a *Homeless Shelter Village* with 1000 shelters that can accommodate 4,000 beds!
I left Commerce City for the rural life. Good move!

E of Parts A-F In the on-site factories the homeless population's workforce is used to make more homeless shelters from plastic-waste taken from the oceans and government subsidized Styrofoam; and electric car conversion kits which cost only $3,600 because _The Defense Production Act_ was invoked. _Which does not include the cost of batteries and installation._ PAR

me and my wife came to Denver with a(( friend)) was supposed to get a place he take the money left us stranded I got there two days after this video was filmed I was homeless the entire month of May because I couldn't get resources to get to somewhere where I would have friends and family because everything was taken and my small time in Denver I watched a man beat the holy heck out of his girlfriend because she spoke a different language than him when she was stressed out on my birthday of May 6th somehow later that month not only was I outside and stranded I walked all the way 50 miles outside of Denver to try to get help by the time a State trooper found me and my wife walking he informed us that we were not allowed to do this and drove us all the way back in the Denver more specifically right outside of Aurora the only place that helped me I believe is closed this guy is not joking there really is nothing there for you I couldn't find a bathroom nine times out of 10 most people get mad at homeless people for not having a decent place to go to the bathroom but I can tell you what from my experience I didn't wantto use the bathroom outside there's really nowhere for you to go and most people get to go to the bathroom in their own house whatever hours strikes their fancy if there's no store nearby you have no money and you have to go to the bathroom how are you supposed to go??
