I don't know what kind of school it is, but Buck did imply that Chicken Little was a teenager in the car. So he is at least in middle school.

  • @NylaTheWolf

You know, if Buck actually TRIED to be more supportive, he could be a really interesting character. Trying to support his son who's going through a crappy time but not knowing how to because he's too awkward and just isn't good in social situations in the first place? You got my attention! I liked the idea that Chicken Little's mother was better at this stuff but she's dead and he just doesn't know how to deal with these sorts of situations. I think that's what they were trying to do, but they failed miserably

The Father-Son conflict in this movie lacks of several important things to make the dad more likeable: he is never seen thinking about what he's doing or how he's handling the situation, he's not seen asking for advices to someone (friends, other relatives) and neither there are other characters who try to resonate with him to make him notice he's doing wrong. He simply stands there, waiting for the problem to disappear by itself and appearing proud of his great "Dad of the Year" advices. The conflict between him and his son gets resolved too fast and even after the reconciliation, he still seems the usual jerk as before

@@AsenaKar you're right, but in this movie they try to paint the father as someone who tries everything to understand his son, but he can't figure out how (see the scene when he's saddened looking at the picture of his late wife, wishing she was still here as if he had tried everything in his power to solve the problem, but we audience saw he did nothing but giving horrible advices to Chicken Little, leaving him alone in difficult time and ignoring him; during the reconciliation he's putting on sad faces while telling his son that no matter what, he always loved him [??excuse me? when?!]). This, combined with what I wrote in my comment above, it's what created one of the most terrible written character in Disney filmography

Other conflicts parent-child in movies work a lot better than this one thanks to the reasons I said earlier: Goofy & Max in "A Goofy Movie", Simba & Kiara, King Triton & Ariel, Stoick & Hiccup, Great Prince & Bambi, Don Lino & Lenny (I wish they were the main focus in the plot!), Queen Elinor & Merida,... in the dynamic the child isn't so submissive like Chicken Little, but attempts to stand up to the parent. During the post reconciliation, I also noticed that Buck Cluck doesn't seem to have learnt the lesson, unlike the other conflicted parents I mentioned, but keeps telling his son "Don't worry, my champion now I sUpPoRt YoU!" in an almost mockingly manner and practically becoming Jean Claude Van Damme when until five minutes earlier he was a total inept. And in a further attempt to manipulate the audience, he also has the nerve to lecture the Alien Dad about being a bad parent, after all the awful things he has done to his own son throughout the movie (!!!), wearing a smug smile on his face as if he's saying "See? I tell you them!"

I can't stand the father in this movie. He's so pathetic. There's actually a deleted scene where the dad is making pancakes for his son, to try and be more supportive. That would have helped the audience to see that he's at least trying. Another problem with the movie I have (outside it being mean-spirited), is that it feels like the writers didn't know what the story wanted to be. The first 20 minutes are about a little chicken humiliated by an incident, who was trying to find his place in the world. Then they were like, "Hey, let's just throw a bunch of aliens in"!

I researched several sites about Chicken Little, and I learned the main reason why this film is considered one of the absolute worst films from Disney is because they were trying to imitate the Shrek-inspired style from DreamWorks, such as snarky humor and pop culture references. But luckily they learned that this kind of film was not what audiences wanted, so they made much better-received films after learning from their mistake with this film.

Of course, as Chicken Little became the final film in the canon to be under the title of Walt Disney Animated Feature to Walt Disney Animation Studios which is best known for the Mickey Mouse steamboat logo. They began with Meet The Robinsons, which was the first film to have involvement from John Lasseter, after becoming CEO of Disney in 2006. Despite the mixed reviews of the movie, it had all the fun and emotion they deserve which revived it's glory days to get back on track, and thus the studio will always keep moving forward from there mistakes they've made from the dork age which began with Home On The Range.

Funny you say that. At the time this film came out, I worked as a theater projectionist, and we'd assemble the 35mm film prints from reels. On average, films would be about 6 reels long (the super-long films like King King came close to 9!). But Chicken Little? Only 4 reels long...the smallest 35mm film I ever put together for a film platter in our theater.

The saddest part of this is that Disney went with this instead of another movie that was in production at the same time called My Peoples. My Peoples was going to be part hand drawn part computer animated about a young couple who's families didn't want them to be together. So they try to use some magic to split them up, but it back fires and brings a group of objects to life. The objects ( which would be computer animated to show what the object was made of ) decide to help bring the couple together. They had some parts animated, voice acted and even some progress in the music, but the higher ups at Disney thought Chicken Little would be more marketable and more appealing...

Ratchet may have been a jerk in the first game, but man was it satisfying to see him grow by the end, and finally become Clank's friend. Also it makes sense in a game about... brutally murdering people with crazy weapons for the main character to have such a heated personality. In the reboot game and movie he's just a good boy from the beginning: he and Clank become best friends the moment they meet, so their relationship doesn't grow. And like I said, in those games you shoot at people with guns: but because Ratchet isn't a though guy anymore it comes of as weird and a bit creepy. Like he's a nice guy but he has no remorse for shooting at living things.

Chicken Little: Pfff! What idiot wrote that crap? Here’s a much better story: A little chicken named Chicken Little thought the sky was falling and everyone immediately hates him! I mean in this world, everyone acts like he caused the Holocaust. The following hour and a half consists of annoying, uninteresting and unfunny characters, a dead beat dad who does nothing but bring his son down and instead of a heartwarming message and everyone learning a lesson about don’t overreact and listen to your kids, we have aliens!

When Judy says to Nick "After all I AM just a dumb bunny, but we ARE good at multiplying." And also as she's leaving her town to the big city the sign shows the population is increasing every mili-second. And the fact that she has soooo many siblings and cousins and uncle's and aunts and relatives in general. 😂😂😂

This is a movie that I wish should really get a sequel. And... make it even 36% more better than the first one. 👍🏻 this first movie was still a big success at the box office & it saved Walt Disney Animation Studios. And after many years where Disney Animation Studios make so many critical phenomenons again, with Bolt, Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Moana, etc. this new era of Disney would be a perfect time for Chicken Little to have a sequel. With better color textures, better story, way better animation, & most importantly... making all the characters likable, especially the father. 👌🏻

Well, there's a first try in everything, and they really did just about everything wrong here. You can clearly see that they tried to imitate what Pixar and DreamWorks were doing, with their over-the-top humor, ironic-subversive spoofs of old Disney tropes and pop cultural references, but boy, did they just do about everything that made Pixar and DreamWorks films work poorly here. The whole movie is like a kid with ADHS and Tourette syndrome, always randomly shouting out gags and pop cultural references in order to never lose the audience's attention. And nowadays however, Disney's computer animated films are just as good as Pixar's, some even better.
