This is one of those movies that I loved as a kid, but over time, began to like it less and less, and then I started to realize how bad it actually was.

Ironically, the 'bad guy' of the movie, the alien, was a better parent than Buck. His kid wandered off with a stranger, and he didn't notice, but when he DID, he freaked out because his kid was with a stranger and was going to basically go full Liam Neeson on the entire town to find his boy. It wasn't really 'bad parenting' so much as a freak accident.

Do we wanna talk about Chicken Father who allows to lecture the alien dad about being a bad parent, after all the horrible things he did to his own son throughout the movie? True, the aliens went a bit too far and called the entire Galactic Army, but their child was missing in a mostly unknown planet and they panicked, not even knowing if he was okay. And by the way, like Mr Enter says, I don't think Buck really redeemed himself at the end, he still seems the usual jerk as before

People always hate on this movie because everybody in the town makes fun of Chicken Little and thinks hes a loser but i saw How To Train Your Dragon recently and it felt to me like everybody in the village treated Hiccups like a loser and a failure in the same way and Hiccups father openly says that he thinks Hiccups is a failure unlike Chicken Littles father that tries to be nice and support his son even though its difficult for him. Nobody seems to have a problem with the way people treated Hiccups in that movie.

Mitch Fletcher People did not ostracize him for not being good at baseball it was because he made everybody panic by saying that something terrible was happening and later it turned out he was trying to say that the sky was falling and that made him look like an idiot. In real life if somebody made everyboy believe that a terrorist attack was happening and later it turned out he was talking about something really stupid like that he would be ostracizised and made fun of for th rest of his life just like in this movie with chicken little.

Think of it of it this way. If a human parent losses their kid in the woods, we'll actually form a man hunt for them, and they don't really consider the locals to be on their level so I think they view it more like that.

Little known fact, Buck was arrested by Judy and Nick soon after the movie ended...along with two thirds of the town.

In HTTYD the ignorance of the villagers was somewhat understandable and they had some redeeming qualities. They weren't just needlessly cruel. Getting stressed over dragons burning your village down and possibly killing your wife is a lot different from being stressed because your son isn't the town's little league hero.

Tbh while I agree he was a shit parent throughout most of the movie, I do believe he was genuine there. Like he realized he was a shit parent and wanted to actively learn how not to be. Granted doesn't mean I think he's forgivable by default and if he was like this throughout most of Chicken Little's life then Chicken Little sure as hell doesn't have to forgive him but he does legitimate acknowledge his wrong doings.

i think that is why it was a profit. It is an ok little kids film. There is a good part of this film, though. The stop sign he saw that started everything is resolved, in a way. A stop sign shaped piece of ufo fell on him.

+MoistSatan Meh, Zootopia was.......okay at best. It was marketed as a buddy cop movie, but it's more like a sociopolitical satire. Too cynical and too trying hard to be "hip and modern", despite having good visuals and ideas.

I was bullied a lot as a kid and saw this movie before switching to another school. At the time, I didn’t think much of how Chicken Little was being treated. After growing up and remembering that this movie exists, I was infuriated! One, because of how terrible the movie is, two, because of what it means to me. Every time I think about this god awful train wreck, I can’t help but think about how many kids as young as I was when I discovered this movie, or god forbid, even younger, and have basically the same reaction as I did at that age! The thought never ceases to leave me wanting to punch a hole in the wall.

My mother acts like buck. In fact she like chicken little (the move) and she likes buck. My mother has a philosophy that anyone younger then her can't possibly know better then her and are only up to evil. If you know someone she doesn't and correct her, your just being disrespectful and crooked and then punished for being a smartass. My mother sees children as subordinates that should be seen and not heard. Shouldn't enjoy themselves, and most definitely shouldn't learn or know more then she knows. I can't wait to get enough money to actually move out.

+drcaramel98 To be fair, we have plenty of things in our works of fiction that don't exist in any form in our reality. Ignoring mythical creatures like genies or dragons on the grounds that you could say the myths are the evidence of their existence in our world, you've still got plenty of examples where people create creatures of their own specifically for their stories. The Lorax, Minions, pretty much 90% of the monsters in Monsters Inc.

I find it interesting that he marks out that porcupine character as the forced-meme character of the movie, when to me Fish out of Water comes across as way more of a forced "Hey, this character is weird and unusual! He's totally gonna be a marketable breakout character with his own fanbase!" sort of character.

When you mean experimental, you mean ripping off of DreamWorks because they were too lazy to be themselves.

It's pretty sad to see a company lose faith in its own tropes and cliches to the point that it makes fun of itself just to fit in with with all the other postmodern/pop-culture/self-referential schlock that was popular at the time and always ends up being incredibly dated and cringy in retrospect.

It's not a bad character arc, this particular film just does not make it work. Buck should have a moment where he realizes that he's been a bad parent and apologizes properly and changes his ways, but the way they scripted that moment just doesn't make it believable.

Take a shot every time Mr. Enter said he hates Buck in this video.

You can’t have all of the people act mean towards him right after he screws up. It’s underhanded and forced. It also makes everyone “ turn arounds” seem forced, because they only do it, because they’ll look good, not turn around naturally. A smart writer would have the town hate him from the start and have him and Foxy Loxy neck and neck in baseball, but have foxy be lazy and chicken little be the one who got them high up in the scoreboards. Edit: you can’t make me feel sorry for buck, JUST because he’s nothing like his wife, which is another dirty, emotionally manipulative trick to pull.

First video I ever watched from this dude, and the first words I hear are, "Fuck this movie."

If he wasn't flawed and that was all to his character, then he would've been proud his son wanted to follow in his footsteps. No one else in this thread is making any sense.

You know what? Buck was actually a decent father in the original idea (the One where chicken Little was supposed to be a girl and to go to a Summer Camp in order to face her anxiety). He loved his daughter, he just got a little tired by her constant anxiety and big imagination, luckily there was his wife still alive to keep him grounded

I'm not sure why Chicken Little's mother died, it wasn't explained nor she had any flashbacks which showed that she cared deeply for her little family.

My entire class saw this in 2006 when we were given tickets to the cinema as a treat. I personally think it would have been more educational and entertaining for us if we went to see a drunken pub brawl.

I actually thought the Indiana Jones thing was pretty funny.

I know that the "Popular vs Unpopular Team" was supposed to accentuate how shitty these people are but like,,, that's usually how it goes in real life from my experience.

It seems like Zootopia came along as the good 'CGI anthropomorphic animals centered movie' that Disney needed to atone for the shitfest that was Chicken Little. And it really looks like they learned from their mistakes, because Zootopia originally had a much darker and cruel plot than the one we ended up with (apparently, Nick would be the main character, the world would be dominated by prey, and all predators would be forced to wear shock collars that would activate whenever they would feel stronger emotions, to "keep them in line"). They changed it because they realized that it made the town look too bigoted, heartless, and most of all, just plain /unlikable/ from the very start. So much that it would make it hard for the audience to care for our heroes saving it by the end of the film. And guess which other movie had the utterly shitty town filled with cruel unlikable animal people as a major issue? Yup. They learned.

Without a doubt Disney's worst movie? What about "Mars Needs Moms"?

Buck is a character that is rightfully infuriating. It reminds me of growing up with my own emotionally immature father. No, he never intended to hurt me. But even then, it exacerbated a wound that continued to grow until I felt nobody wanted to be around me, because I couldn't do anything right even for my family. Looking back on this film, it was honestly a little triggering.

Exactly! This character deserves to be turned into a capon and roasted with delicious garlic tarragon sauce, made into a braise for stew, coated in hazelnut flour and fried in perfection, made into a hot curry.

As a kid, I hated this movie. It was legitimately traumatizing

I honestly hate pop culture references in kids movies. It's just a really lazy way of making a comedy. I don't get it, like, "haha! It's funny because it exists in my day to day life!"

+Mademow you have found a reason why movies exist: to MAKE fucking pop culture, so other movies can make stupid jokes about it, they will wonder about it, watch the movie reference/ ect, like the fuck, then buy the shitty merchandise=MONEY! good for you.

Mademow It also seriously dates a movie, years later nobody really gets it anymore, and it makes me mad when I see that kind of thing, I've always hated 75% of pop culture, and not just because it's popular, mostly because I find those things dumb, annoying or way overrated.

Whenever I play Kingdom Hearts II, I'm reminded that this movie exists. The devs put Chicken Little in the game as a summon support character.

The viseral hatred for Buck Cluck is hilarious and reasonable. Also the song One Little Slip is done by Bearnaked Ladies, not Bowling For Soup.

When I was younger I used to think the robot alien monsters where pretty awesome, but I was ticked when I later saw they where just stupid fluff balls.

Me after seeing Buck Cluck: IT'S CHICKEN HUNTING SEASON!

This whole movie is just oNe LiTtLe SlIp.

The fact that Disney actually paid Lucas Films just for a failed joke actually got me laughing more than the entire movie. Thanks for pointing that out
