Chicken Coop & Run Build || Part 2 || Adding Beams to the Run
Chicken Coop & Run Build || Part 2 || Adding Beams to the Run
After much self debate, I decided to change out the beams on this run with 4x4 beams. In order to ensure that it stayed square and that the beams would carry the weight to the posts, I notched them out. Unfortunately, the weather and the shorter days played a roll in how much I could get out to you all. Not to worry, there will be more to come on this chicken run!

You've come along way, baby! A closet to chicken coops & runs. Thumbs up from me too. Love Robbie helping - Grandpa would be proud
Kenny took us to Church with his choice of music today! 😎
Not that misery loves company, but... I’m glad that I’m not the only one that starts into a project going two steps forward and one step back!

Always... But better to take a step back than be sorry later!
It's nice to see Robby take interest and use his drill and other tools!

Kenny love the music, ya had me standing and swaying to the tunes, hands a clapping and arms raised above my head, saying hallelujah, praise tha lord, amen, 👍❤🇨🇦 now I am almost late for bible study because of watching your dang video
Thanks!
My latest project needed a pocket hole jig. It's a handy tool to have. Everybody's videos should have a little Bridget in them. She's a guaranteed smile. Have a great day.

Yes!! The pocket hole jig! So worth every penny. I just recently switched from Kreg to Armour Tool.

Tools are an investment. They are better than stocks and bonds....and seriously...they are....well Toolishousness😁😁😁😁 Teaching your children while building is the best thing ever. Too few get this experience anymore, or the pride of seeing what they can build.👍👍👍

All too true! Teaching the kids makes it take longer and can be trying but it's rewarding and it's invaluable!
What is that last song? “Flipping through the channels to find your voice” I’ve tried googling lyrics for an hour now. 🤔
I always heard that when a project has to be redone, it's because the proper tools were not bought in the beginning.. Better to get the tool, I say.......maybe even something extra, just to make sure. 😁

I like your style!
Love your built but do you anchor into the ground due to strong wind storms?
@LifeOnBeagleRoad
Жыл бұрын
No. Its down in a valley and slightly protected from the winds. What winds we do get down there it has dealt with happily. If it were in an open area, I would definitely anchor it down!
What is the music you have playing when your unloading the truck?
Hey Kenny....I'm getting ready to make this build. I presume the long boards are 2x6x8 between the posts? Making the space between posts 8'? And the posts are 4x4x8? When you took out the 2x6 to notch the post, what length was the new post you put in?
@LifeOnBeagleRoad
Жыл бұрын
The posts are 4x4x8. The beams are 2x6x10. Each section was 10’ plus the post, except the first section with the roof. That one was 8’. I used joist hangers in lie of notching out unless it was holding the roof. Those were notched and I believe came out to 8’ 7”.
Hey Kenny what do you do for a real job? Good job on the coop.

School counselor/therapist/soccer coach. Whatever I build I learn on KZread. Hahaha
Good morning. I noticed there is a tree leaning towards the chicken house. Do you think it is a problem? Everybody needs new tools. I just bought a new drill yesterday and I’m older. Lol. Wish I had chickens.

I debated about that tree, but it's a super healthy tree... At the moment. It kind of swoops up and is straight at the top. The bottom grew funky to get to the sun.
What song was that please...?
