Chicago Style Eats - Episode 0123 - Mild Sauce

Not satisfied with the singular flavors of ketchup or barbecue sauce or hot sauce, innovative foodies in the west- and south side African-American neighborhoods mixed all three together and wound up with a fourth sauce that holds its own on fried chicken and grilled meats, but no two are alike. Today, small independent fast food joints all the way up to growing restaurant franchises drizzle Mild Sauce on your order, fill up dipping cups on the side, or bottle and sell it to customers who just can't get enough.
Also in this episode, we have a nice chat with a south side cat, our great friend who grew up among the many varieties of the stuff and who we consider a Mild Sauce connoisseur.

Very interesting. I have seen many accounts on Twitter talking about Chicago mild sauce. I don't recalling having it when I lived there in the 1960's and 1970's.I also didn't know that the Harold's were independently owned.
