I'm a new subscriber, and loved your video. I currently live in WA, but a bit of family history (on my father's side) linking me to the Chicago area. My father was born in Aurora. I have a spot for me if I want it at family cemetary plot in West Batavia. And my Grandparents were journalists with The Tribune before moving to San Francisco, eventually. I've only been to Chicago twice :( The 1st in in 1975 when i got to visit the U-505 :D

Chicagoan here. I live in Rogers Park and the average 2 bedroom is about $1,400. Live downtown and pay downtown prices. This is such an incredible city and my neighborhood is ranked on of the best in the country as far as affordability, culture, diversity and amenities.

Cheapest big city in the US unless you count the St Louis MSA as St Louis. Cheaper than Colorado Springs now. Denver is so bad now you pay $70 for 1/10 of what the Shed Aquarium is. That is a pretty good example of price gouging in CO. Even with the tax IL is cheap.

@@alsmith5526 Not in CO. Large price increases were going on when the rest of the country was at 2% inflation here. A lot of it WAS rent driven. You cannot build less homes in 10 years than pre-2008 in 5, watch rents tripple while inflation is a steady 2%, and then not expect a 100% price increase. Meanwhile, corporations here have charged a premium since about 2014 like the state is a damn resort. It was as bad under Trump as Biden where I am. Literally watched my food bill climb from $60 to $120 between 2013 and 2019 for the same basket of goods.
