My first car was an 88’ Monte Carlo SS. I thought I was such a badass with my 180 horsepower. 🤣 But I gotta say that sofa seat in the back was where most of the good memories happened.

I have had four Monte Carlos in my life... a 1984 (my parents bought brand new when I was in Kindergarten and I ended up driving throughout high school... it is still sitting at my parents' place awaiting restoration), a 2003, a 1983 (I had this at the same time as the 03, but sold to pay for an engagement ring), and later a 2007 SS. The LS4 and FWD created a lot of torque steer, and the main weakness in these are the transmissions... they weren't all that good in the 00-07 regular Montes, and it is pretty much the same transmission with a lot more power added in the 06-07 SS. I would love for Chevy to come out with a RWD, V8 coupe that is comfortable and badge it the Monte Carlo, but I don't see that happening.
This video gives me pride in owning a Monte Carlo. A black 2002 3.4L V6. 202 HP. Love it.

Honestly after going thru some car stats of the time in the Sports Compact. The RX3 was a piece of fucking shit. That thing was less fuel efficient than a 350 Chevy V8 in the Monza, and slower than a 140 Chevy in the same car.
@izzygifkins1487
4 жыл бұрын
@@nickrustyson8124 firstly, it's not an Rx3 its a 2nd gen Toyota Corolla, secondly the US has always been shit at modifying rotaries, the Rx3 make amazing platforms because all considered they weigh 2050lb. The Monte carlo weighs 3400lb, and if you know what your doing you can pull between 260 to 280 hp from the 12a without forced induction, that's over double from factory N/A, no true car enthusiast can deny the racing credentials, sure on the oval or the strip american cars could hold a candle but it would a different story on every other form of racing and a properly prepared RX3, it was pretty much homogulated to compete against the Hokusuka Skyline, built to race while offering road cars not the other way around.
@nickrustyson8124
4 жыл бұрын
@@izzygifkins1487 Oh wow. A race car drives good on the track, so the non track one with no racing shit added on to it should be seen as good. And you're forgetting the Chevy Monza that is beating Porsche www.onallcylinders.com/2018/02/02/meet-chevy-monza-thats-beating-porsches-france/ and if you don't want to get into that kind of racing what about the IMSA Monzas assets.hemmings.com/blog/wp-content/uploads//2018/08/214291.jpg

Thank you so much, never thought you were gonna do a video on it 👌
Why haven't you done an "Up to Speed" on TVR yet? I would love to see that because I love this show.

Preaching to the choir, bro!
I have been waiting for this episode longer than this guy has been waiting for his dad
Had a 85 Pontiac grand prix,same "G" body style had a 305 in it, loved that car.
Just bought an '03 Monte Carlo. Needs some work done on it but I'm stoked to get it cleaned up into a cruiser.
This is what I was waiting for. Thank you
Love the shoutout to Cleetus!
I had 2 -77 montes both black. First one had white interior swivel buckets floor shift. 350 comp 280-480 cam holley 3310 carb with spring kit 2,800 stall 3.91 gear. 2nd monte i ran a 406 with 5.7 rods 292 comp cam 750 dbl pumper 10in converter front & rear comp eng shocks 4.56 gear 29x10.50w quick times. Then i built a 496 made 725hp at rear wheels both cars rode so smooth and handled awesome even when racing. Everyone always said car was to heavy looks are deceiving 3450 sbc title weight i scaled it 3640 with the 496 bbc. Awesome cars.
Long live the LS4!
You and Cleetus need to get together and do a up to speed on a couple of his cars .#do it for dale
