Just fixed mine took me 2 months to diagnose and almost died on a 3 hrs trip yesterday before my mechanic spotted the issue. it was the Danm control arms and front driver wheel sensor. After installation lights went out didn’t even read code. Please do not ever ignore this traction light and abs light you can die. Especially on this makes of car.

Thank you for this tutorial. I have a 2008 Malibu and both front wheel bearings are loud! Today I pushed the brake and service traction control came across odometer screen and pedal pulsated. Looks like I'm doing this soon. Cheers 🍻. Thanks!!

Just did some digging, GM put out Special Coverage 15356 for the power steering sensor. However, since it is a special coverage and not a recall, the only way to see if it applies to your vehicle is by registering online. My car never had any symptoms until now and the coverage expired in 2021. I submitted a complaint to the NHTSA to make this into a recall so that people aren't paying out of pocket for something GM knows is faulty. If you have the same issue, please submit a complaint to the NHTSA. A quick google search will reveal the Special Coverage Instructions GM sent to all the dealerships 5 years ago.

Would love to file a complaint. Had issues with the 2010 Malibu in March 2021. They told me that it wasn't on recall. Didn't know if filing a complaint would matter after the fact.

Good job. I had the same dash lights come up on my '11 Buick Regal back in 2016. Diagnostic code was C0035. Replaced LF wheel hub (bearing) with the built-in speed sensor wire. I'm expecting to do the same with my RF wheel hub sometime soon. (I got a code C0040 once last May, so I won't be surprised.)

Good video unfortunately I can’t afford the scanner! I put the bearing in with the sensor facing down instead of up bolted everything and then realized the mistake then I put it in the correct way is there another way of clearing the codes? I have an obd reader can I use that?

Great video and way to teach your son at the same time! I have no idea how you got the hub off with a few taps after you got the axle nut off. I even rented a puller tool and mine is solid AF. Yes, I removed the three bolts. Going to have to pay a mechanic, but I gave it a shot thanks to your video. And where on earth did you find a 35mm socket? All the stores here had 32 then 36mm. Thankfully my 2010 LTZ was a 36mm.

Thanks. Great video, with helpful tips and a quick diagnosis. Out of curiosity, what were the torque values on the main bearing nut, and on the two caliper mounting bracket bolts which attached that bracket to the steering knuckle. On some GM models, those torque values are very high. Thanks again.

Well i changed my wheel bearing and my light is on but before i changed them my light was off i did the same thing the only problem i had was the wheel bearings we're so rusted on the car that it was stuck to the rotars and the circle spot that they go in because the previous owner never changed anything on the car i know this video is old but if you or anyone in the comments that had the same or similar experience happen to see this can you give me any other suggestions on what it could be the wheel bearings are new and before i changed them the light was off no check engine light is on nether

I have a 2007 Cobalt SS. I only get the service traction light on cold damp days. Does it after you’re still & locks on. No codes in body control module. Restart the car, all clears & may not do it again for another week or two. Never does it while moving. Hubs were replaced several months ago. Can it be a loose connector on the wheel sensor? Then if so, why does it throw a light only after you’ve stopped?

Have a question have a 2012 Chevy Malibu and says service esc traction control and hear a gargle sound coming from the esc system like something wrong some out computer and said tcm module traction control module

I had the same exact issue on my 2009 Chevy Malibu hybrid. Ended up being the intake VVT solenoid. Super simple fix.

When you had the issue was your car losing power at all or shutting off when you came to a slow? I'm having the issue now and they said I need a new traction control sensor but we can't find one... If fixing this sensor would fix the whole issue would be amazing.

My service esc and power steering came on after making a turn but no abs, triangle or traction light. What could cause that. I pulled cut the car off and on it was fine

I have one question, when the original wheel speed sensor is out, will it also cause a malfunction to cruise control??? my malibu will automatically disengage cruise control after 10 secs. Nice video by the way, appreciate all the detail!

I see this is an old comment but yes the cruise control system relies on wheel speed sensors so if one of them is out you wont be able to use cruise. Hope this helps.

Yes even cheap scanners that scan ABS will tell you where the fault lies.

Not on this particular style because the sensor and tone ring are sealed inside the hub assembly. Some other models would be affected by that as they have the tone ring and sensor external. Many have the tone ring mounted on the axle shaft.

What code reader and computer are you using? I need to get a setup similar to yours

you probably have it figured out by now, but the abs cord and sensor is attached to the wheeel hub.

This is good info. My 2008 has only the ESC light on. Thanks for the info!

You may have an issue with the electric power steering.

I have a similar issue but the check engine light doesn't come on(good sign) the stabilitytrak light comes on, service brake assist, and service power steering comes on and messes with the speedometer. Any help? :(

Parking brake stuck on in the switch most likely. I can get mine to do it if I partially put the brake on.

Omg...hope this work for me because I don't have $500-$2000 to pay anyone. My low traction light has been popping on for a few months now. Have it scanned at a parts store. An intermittent fault should show up as a memory or stored code. Could point you in the direction of the bad sensor. Thanks for watching!

I had it scanned at auto zone for my check engine light being on. Which they code pulled up my purge valve & a few other codes. They said the only one stood out was the Purge valve. Is there a better auto place you can maybe suggest that doesn't charge a lot to check for the code? You're welcome. It was my pleasure to watch such an informative video.

my 09 Malibu has the same lights on and got a code for C0035 LF speed sensor. Replaced the hub but warning lights are still on, tried clearing the code but it just comes back on. Any idea what else it could be?

Sometimes the wiring harnesses on the car side will break internally. You can’t see it on a visual inspection. Usually happens where there’s a bend in the harness.

Check your speed sensor connectors for water intrusion.

I put the dust shield on backwards once and it was rubbing on my rotor bad. I was ticked I had to take all that crap back off just to flip it. lol.
