My wife's 2006 HHR key fobs started to stop working over time. It seemed like a battery issue but replacing the battery didn't work. Does anyone know if they just need reprogrammed? Also, the car doesn't have an info button. I'm trying to avoid paying hundreds to have a dealership do this if I can do it myself. Any tips are appreciated. Thanks.

no, it's not an acronym. The word was used 100 years ago for a decorative thing attached to the end of a pocket watch chain. He's confused on that. It's a word, not an acronym. In the world of freight shipping (and ordering things that are shipped, FOB (caps) is for "free on board." I forget what it means, but you can find it if you search for it.

No it doesn't work like that cuz the way the Chevys are when you program them from the dash computer if you program a new fob or a new key you can do it from inside the truck without going to the factory you can do it yourself and as soon as you reprogram one it automatically deletes out all the other ones so they all have to be programmed at the same time so when you program one you got a program all of them

Completely wrong about the used car dealers, when they buy cars either form a dealer wholesale auction or trade in, they VERY rarely come with two keys, I would say 90 percent of the time they get 1 key and maybe 1 remote. That is a FACT! If you want two key, go buy it new. Then you can lose one or trade it in with one and blame a used car dealer.

John Humphrey I was specifically told this by a shady dealership when i asked for the 2nd key. The ironic part is that this same dealership sold me an extended warranty which wasnt honored when the transmission failed 1yr later. Since i wasnt able to sue the warranty provider i sued the dealership for selling me the policy. All repairs including rentals were recovered. Ive learned since then to buy extended warranties through my insurance carrier from now on. Yet another shady hustle by the industry. Thank you for your comment, and good luck with your dealership. 😉

You generalize and assume all car dealers are bad, you are wrong, honest ones do very well. I do it on the side,I am retired, I buy cars for a dealer and he pays me 50percent of the profit made, It is VERY rare we get two keys, and we wont sell a car without a warranty, a warranty that actually will cover the repair. Stop being so negative, have faith there are good people out there. Here is what life has taught me, Not everyone is trustworthy but the ones that are not trustworthy make you appreciate the ones that are.

  • @EluderRacing

john you are the one whom is generalizing and mistaken! I have personally bought 4 used cars in the last 10 years are 4 vehicles were bought from 4 separate dealerships with no affiliation. and when purchased all 4 vehicles 2 cars 1 truck and 1 suv all came with one key when I asked about the 2nd key and key fob which was in the envelope with all the other paperwork 3 salesmen came right out and said with the vehicle being financed they key is retained until car is paid off. so don't get on youtube and say someone is completely wrong like you did in your first post. maybe you don't do this but in other states like Michigan, new York, new jersey they do this.
