I use a mirror (10" X 12") and a light - lay mirror and light on floor pointing up near lift point but not in path of hoist arm swing / placement. Swing arm to correct position and in out adjustment and observe where pad is and will contact in relation to lift point contact area. Once all four arms and pads are located lift vehicle to where it is just supported off floor and recheck with mirror and light as well as perform bounce test on front and rear to make sure vehicle won't teeter totter on hoist. If everything looks good then lift vehicle - if not lower and correct problem area(s). I don't bend well and knees don't like getting dirty anymore thanks to psoriatic arthritis.

When you mentioned a half sized metric socket to remove the lug nuts having that useless shiny metal wrap i remember my son and working on his car few months ago where we live 25 miles away from town and couldnt change his blown tire. Couldnt force any lug wrench or socket to work and used a small cold chisel to get the last 2 lug nuts off. As soon as your mentioned that socket set i had to look it up. Im ordering a set to have for my kids and grandkids cars cuz i know its gonna happen again. Now i will have to rewatch the video cuz you talk faster than an old fart can search. Thanks you taught and old dog something new or made him aware of a solution.

Moral of the story…. The Mrs. is the hero.
Threw her under the bus the moment she walked in…nice! He works on cars and lives dangerously! 😉 My biggest problem with this channel from day one….all those awesome damn tools that I feel like I need to buy every single video lmao. I have been watching for years and have yet to see one video that did not have a tool in use or at least in frame that I wish I had and instantly want. Second biggest problem with this channel is that I do not live close enough to have E work on my vehicles😢 LUV me sum SMA video ❤
Great video! All the elements of a top-notch video - Chevy Impala, Mrs. O and Luna!
Livin right, bolt not permanently fused to the inner bushing sleeve. 👍
Your videos are always the best, thanks Eric. My best to your lovely wife and family. Love you guys, you're a hoot !
At the beginning of the video I thought we were going to have another ASMR experience, but I'll take Eric and Mrs. O's banter any day! Also, I think I've mentioned this before, my old car had swollen lug nuts, found out when I was in for a simple tire rotation the shop thought they were going to break off every one of my wheel studs trying to get them off (thankfully they didn't) - replaced the entire set with McGard lug nuts, never a problem again until I sold the vehicle. Highly recommend them.
Well that was weird I said knucklehead let me exact same time out loud 😂 The sound of air tools made my day Thank you
Oh and I see Mrs O bringing in the table...she must have ladies coming in for an Oil Change and Nails appointments!
You and the Mrs. are wonderful people. Be well Eric O.
Your wife is an absolute gem and you're both dancing to the same beat, so to speak. Your interactions are so casual and mutually-supporting even as you tease and joke around. Reminds me of how things were with my wife before I was widowed 8 months ago. God I envy you. Anyway, don't underestimate what you have there fella. Keep your stick on the ice 'cause I'm pulling for you. 🥲

Bought a used Olds 88 back the decades with a bad case of the rear saggies - swayzies. Think the muffler shop I chose might have put in tank springs by mistake but since my driving was mostly all smooth roads and the price was really 'special", "rock solid" did not really matter that much. lol
Classic example of an argument that one will never win. The help comes in when it's convenient. Great video as always.

Just want to say that I enjoy watching the show. I think you're super sharp. Wish there was one of you in every town. I would like to mention, after replacing my timing belt on my Saturn with the j35 Honda, I think the mystery on the crank bolt is the heavy spring washer. Take a look and see that it's slightly concave. The threads are only torqued against it. I did not have a sufficient torque wrench along with my weighted socket to do the job. An easy way out on that is to put your breaker bar on and wedge it against the suspension and then bump the key. Works every time.
Mrs o and cats this video can't get any better..😊
This video was a good reminder.. I did a brake fluid flush today on my car.. but I haven't torqued the wheels yet.

always like your videos. I have the 2015 Chevrolet with the big 3.6. Nice to know how easy some repairs are on the car.
Enjoyed the comment about the stickers, bananaman will go crazy.
Good point at the end to get the alignment done anytime you mess with suspension stuff. Springs sag with age, and wrong rear toe will wreck tires.
After changing the front brakes on my 17 Cherokee today I now see why you have the Arthritis. They used the red loctite in the star headed bolts (uses the E sockets) holding te caliper bracket to the knuckle, and man were those tough to break loose when sitting on the ground in my driveway.
Eric! I love you, man! you are my “spirit animal” (love Vanessa too)
Eric you are not fooling anybody, we knew Mrs. O is "THE" boss.😂😅
Great way to change rear spring.
Another great job!
Nice to see a "straightforward" repair for once. You sure get a lot of good use out of that transmission jack!
Damn good job Eric thank you so much for the video
What?? You actually used a torque wrench!! Not the calibrated elbow!! Sorry to be soooo cynical. But you do good work mister. I know a few mechanics who don't know/understand about getting vehicle to standard ride height before tightening bolts which secure encapsulated rubber bushings. And then they wonder why the bushes chop out in a short time. Well done. Retired mechanic in Land Down Under.
I enjoy your content
Like always Good job
No matter how tough Eric seems to be, Luna proves he's a very nice guy. So, you got a goodern thar Nu Yawk...lol. Cheers.
I usually use a bag of frozen peas for swollen nuts, but maybe those sockets are what I need.

0:50 those rock auto magnets. I have a good sized collection too haha
Coming from someone who lives in Iowa, I'm jealous of those pinch welds. Seems like every vehicle that I see come in, they turn to dust as soon as the lift hits them. Also, does anybody immediately pause a video and add tools to their cards as soon as he mentions them? Never knew these existed.
Great to see missus O !
When you first started, I was thinking that spring looks really good. I was figuring I would see a rusty one.

Thumbed up for kitty cat.

Springin’ into action So we get better traction!
Nice to see wheel nuts being done correctly. With a torque wrench not with a rattle gun on max and tightened in a "X "pattern
Ha! Saw you using a torque wrench. I knew it!
Heard a bang driving my 13 verano on a smooth road. My mechanic figured a broken spring. I bought a pair . Turned out both were broken in same spot.
A wild Mrs. O appears! A wild Luna appears!

That 2016 Impala is on the Epsilon II platform. I think the other (called the Impala Limited) is on the old W-body. I think they made them both in 2016. GREAT VIDEO!
@glassvial
25 күн бұрын
The Limited, despite it's fancy sounding name was the stuff of rental car fleet fodder, made from 2014-2016 if I'm not mistaken, overlapping the new body style that began in 2014. If I owned one and needed parts, I would just tell the guy behind the counter it's a 2013 to avoid the confusion!
If a spring has stamped text/art nr it usually mounted so you can read it.
Nice to see you use torque wrench when finishing. Not a lot of people do that these days
"... right in the teeth ..." It's even funnier when you know it's true. Thanks for the laugh. I've been giggling for the last 30 minutes.

I like to see this kind of job in case I need to do it myself.
Great video, wish it was longer ha. One question, when you're jacking up the car without the tire on, how do you know when you've reached ride height?
Wood block on the trans jack..."you can't fix cars (or motorcycles, or airplanes) without wood! I used to argue with a guy who would gather up and throw out all the pieces of wood around the hangar, to "make it look neater". Ya gotta have wood!
If one uses a portable spring compressor be very careful and use a quality compressor..when I was in auto trade school one of the students tightened a coil to tight and broke the took..No one was hurt after the coil was launched across the ship 😮
Still waiting for the lawn mower to start up...
Well, I watched this one long enough to see that I was supposed to put the wheel back on. No problem with this job!
Leave the stickers on so when the customer gets home and looks underneath, they see shiny, new parts complete with genuine OEM labels!
Went to Wegmans 👍
That was quite the easy job, take out the bolt, take out the spring and now do it in reverse order !!!!! Repeat for the other side spring !!!!! Yes, that's an Easy Peasy !!!! What would break a spring like that ??? Giant caverns in the paved road, failure of NYDOT to fill in the potholes for a few years like Pennsylvania does ???????????? Bet ya the car will ride nice and smooth now !!!! Love it when Luna makes a cameo appearance, she is such a little ham !!!! 😃😺😸😻👍
