    Hans says at one point he was tired and didn't 'recollect' the game well (time 10:44). However what amazes me about other chess GMs (like Hikaru) is they talk about games they played a decade ago like it happened yesterday. Having an amazing chess memory seems part of being a GM.

    @Bryan Corrêa if you analyzed his game against magnus you'd see he clearly did not cheat, magnus made several blunders and he wasn't playing super well either, he just came out on top. cheating at a high level tournament like that would not be easy at all, so idk what you're basing your opinion off of.

    Dude has a history of cheating. His performance is all over the board, always. He is either engine like genious or near/base GM player. He is the first player that clearly is obsessed with the game to the point of beating the world chess champion, but not to the point of going over possible lines. Ever. I understand people that comes up like "thats impossible to prove it, so lets just move on for now", but not the ones that try to defend a guy with a bunch of red flags, and all top GMs too suspicious to defend the underdog. Either people are stupid and love underdog bullshiit or they can relate because they feel uncomfortable afyer seeing a felow sinner getting caught.

    An interesting note: Hans says he only ever cheated in unrated games, but he says in one of your clips "I only did it so I could play against some stronger players" - which for anyone unfamiliar with the Elo rating system, as you win games your score goes up, so theoretically if he were to cheat in *rated* games his score could go up, but never in an unrated game. Meaning that claim too is bogus. You don't get to play against anyone stronger unless you cheat in rated games.

  • @ggmegyeri

    @ggmegyeri

    Жыл бұрын

    @@GingyNinjyy Its not only about body language, but the fact that his stories are all inconsistent. The problem with lying is that its difficult to remain self-consistent when adding more little details. When you tell the truth you simply use your memory and dont even have to think about it. When you lie you have to remember everything you said. This is very hard to do and triggers your body trying to secure itself. So when someone tells you a story that does not add up plus you see these signs it is likely that he/she is not telling the full truth. Obviously when someone is under pressure to defend himself it is expected to see some of it. And it is never a 100% accurate method for detecting lies. Also you will not be able to tell which parts were not true. For me the fact that he wants to convince (tell the truth) without actual evidence or logical reasoning indicates that something is wrong here. On the other hand however Magnus is doing the same to some extent. But that is understandable considering potential lawsuits he probably wants to avoid. Did Hans cheat in the game? At first I would say probably not. Magnus played poorly (to his own standards at least). But if Hans did not cheat he simply could have just pointed it out. Instead, he came with the "miracolous" explanation that he just reviewed the opening but gave up a piece during the post game analysis. If its true that he did not cheat he must be aware of his opponent weak play. If its true that he has just reviewed those positions before the game then it does not make any sense to suggest a blunder as a potential move. As some smart guy once said "chess speaks for itself". So this indicates that its very likely that he has done something wrong there. What he has done and how he did that is a question we may never get answered.

    I think that Hans hates losing so much that he has considered cheating in the past and has done so. Whether he cheated at the Sinquefield cup is very difficult to determine without having been there to witness the game play and what he did between moves whenever he left the table. Hans at the previous tournament said that he was so crushed by his losses he stated it was a miracle he was there the next day and hadn't walked out into the nearby waters and let himself sink. With this sort of mindset, this sort of obsession with winning, the possible self obsession and narcissism he might suffer, he could be prone to compulsive cheating simply to preserve the way he sees and reveres himself. It would not surprise me if Hans is the type of person who is morally bankrupt and would feel that the ends justify the means as he is at the center of his reality and a singular entity within that reality beholden only to himself. That all aside, it is quite possible he simply played some genius level chess through a unique blend of study, luck, intuition and psychological gamesmanship. He, and perhaps his coach Dlugy, are the only people that truly know whether he cheated, and Magnus, the strongest rated player ever might also be a strong judge of that as well as he was on the receiving end of it.

    Body language cannot be judged this way just from one video. You have to have first established the base line and then looked for differences. This differences does not tell you if he is lying or not, it just tells you that you should ask more deeply about the topic which makes the change from base line body language. Even polygraph itself cannot be used in a way to prove if subject is lying or not. It just show the areas (soft spots) on which should interrogator focus with followup questions.

Hans didn’t just beat ‘em. He wrecked ‘em. And Magnus didn’t handle it very well after either. He quit so abruptly, when pulling out slowly wouldn’t have left such a mess to clean up. I must say, when i spend periods of time around european non english speakers (i'm in the UK), my english does change do be accented, and i notably change my vocabulary. Its very common. Look at former UFC two weight champion Daneil Cormier when he talks to Khabib or any of the russian fighters, he sounds nothing like his normal self. Now thats from small acute interactions. If all you were doing is zoom chatting to people who english is not a first language for, you will change how you talk absolutely. If your peers, the people you aspire to be like, the people you watch on youtube are also non english speakers, it even more shifts your norm. This does not imply anything calculated or nefarious. Furthermore, I talk so diffrently when I am being interviewed or giving a lecture, than when i am gaming or out drinking, so much so, almost every person i meet comments on it. Thats because when I am in a more professional context, i revert to the more correct and clearer pronouncication i used when lecturing, so again, context makes a huge part of accent. Not saying i disagree with your overall assessment, but that point in particular you really labour.

    To prevent these types of things from happening, at such a high level, the stream should be on a reasonable delay and limited audience should be allowed into the tournaments. All which have to face metal detection. Fide should invest in a device that can kill signals from entering and leaving the chess hall. Not sure how expensive that would be but might be worth a shot.

    I’ve watched so many grandmasters explain their moves, each possible permutation for each response, their decision of making choice A over B or C, and they will tend to be harder on themselves when they make a mistake or an inaccuracy (and will refer to it as a blunder at that level) and very rarely will they refer to one of their moves as “brilliant” unless it totally kills. They know exactly what is going on and can visualize and narrate the entire decision tree of of responses that could come after a move. Hans did none of that.

One may or may not be a lie and the other is what he believed deeply in about the attack to him which is the truth. And also the difference between the talking about his 12 16 yo cheating (which is the truth) and the accent thing the OTB cheating things.
