An inspiration. I don't know her personally, but I was a couple of years behind her at USC, a "nobody" walking down the steps of the gym one day, she was walking up...she saw me, flashed a smile, and said hi. Made my day. This was around 85/86, when she was going through all the turmoil and she still managed to brighten a total stranger's day with a nice gesture. I've been a fan ever since. She's a classic.

Great interview! Cheryl hit some chords that caused me to reach for tissues as well! I was not a great dad coach and that impacted my relationship with my daughter in the past. Her reflection of dad as the necessary “task master” displayed great wisdom, and at times great pain. All dads should see this interview, so that they can listen to their daughter’s heart and understand what’s most important! Thank you Dan for creating that safe place for Cheryl, and Cheryl thank you for taking us there with you!

I love this whole interview. Dan is a brilliant interviewer. Dan’s close connection and trust with Reggie is apparent in terms of how they are so comfortable in this interview. Reggie sounds so much like her, and it’s obvious that he patterned hisself around her in so many ways. Kudos for him for always respecting her publicly and not just in private. He’s always said she was better than him. As far as Cheryl goes, imagine her coming along about 8 years later and with better mental health and physical support. She’d have dominated the W beyond even what Houston did in dominance. But it wasn’t meant to be. I am glad she’s at peace.

Turning 60, and was a huge fan of hoop in the '80's. Coach ball, too. The thing that makes C. Miller special is her toughness. She sticks her nose into it. Very physical, and attacks the basket. That is very special for a ball player, and for the women's game it is very rare. During that era, she was unstoppable.

Cheryl Miller is the GOAT. She was the person that got me to watch women’s basketball. It was one of her NCAAW championship game. She played like a guy. Her team was so dominating. They were one of the best NCAAW teams in history. I had the opportunity to meet her prior to boarding the plane to New Orleans for Olympics trial. She and one of the McGee twins probably bumped me from first class that day.

I remember Cheryl! She’s a sweetheart! I saw her play while I was in High School. Watching her play with the same number as me 31, motivated me to give it my all. So I understood her passion on the court. The tv doesn’t do justice to the women’s game. I read about her 105 night, but when I saw her play Cal…the press they put on and the steals she had was really motivated me on defense. There hasn’t really been a player like her yet. Candace Parker came close, but, Cheryl could actually controllably handle the rock 🏀

WOW. The greatness and the personalities of Dan Patrick and Cheryl Miller made this one of the best sports interviews ever. I remember watching Cheryl Miller in the 1984 Olympics and thinking that she was twice as good as anyone on the court with her all around great game. If the WNBA had existed in 1986 and she never tore her ACL there is no question that she would have dominated the league for 15 years. She was decades ahead of her time in women's basketball -- just watch her form and elevation on her jump shot -- and her great athleticism. I have always said that Miller was the greatest women's basketball player of all time until Caitlin Clark's breakout season last year. Clark has yet to prove it at the next level but I think she will and 10 years from now she will go down as the greatest player ever. Even if Clark does this it will not take away from the greatness of Miller who held that title for 40-50 years (at least in my eyes).

Without social media, she had the viewers and the following and she did it in a span of a decade or so. Then the explosion expanded in the W and TNT. It was her love for the game that evolved her. Nothing can’t beat Love❤️

This is what we so called womens basketball fans need to know and that is there were more players before CC that made and impact. I also think that Geno and the late great Pat Summit who kept us at least interested in women college baskeball and now Dawn Staley for paving the way for CC and others. if it was about just basketball they would already know this but this is not jsut about baskeball and it nver will be in this country. We are humans with flaws and hang up we will always have issue with certain people-groups.

Funny story about the Soviet Women's team smoking cigs on the bus! It is a nice parallel that the Men's Team had to overcome a Silver in '72, and the Women's Team also had to slay the dragon on their own journey. U-S-A!!!!

Hey sports fan I just want to say I am a fan of the game of basketball football for females I got to give it to Cheryl Miller. I have been a fan of hers, for years and I love her attitude I'm the one that doesn't like to lose neither. but I will give respect but it goes to bed with it and think damn we should have won that game I should have done better. PS. Okay I had a little crush on her also.

Cheryl Miller was the OG CC. She doesn't get nearly enough mention with the current players.

Only People who 'paved' the way, for Caitlin Clark, is her Dad, her Mom, her Family, and her own work ethic and skill. Cheryl Miller helped her in now way. Did she ever practice with Clark? Did she ever support Clark in any tangible way? So, Cheryl Miller got to were she is (where ever that is, dont know who she is) People who helped her or 'paved' her way, were what ever kind of family she had around her, and her own work ethic and talent...Only reason any one is even talking about her right now, is because, of Caitlin Clark, Her family, her teammates and coaches who shaped her and formed her...Miller, is not a part of the equation...She never even 'paid' her own way in the WNBA...The WNBA has never once turned a Profit...NBA Fans, and Players, paid her salary while playing in the WNBA...Sure she was a great Player, (again, never heard of her, till recently, when people started trying to diminish Clark's accomplishments.

Even Caitlin Clark would disagree with what you’ve just said. She always gives credit to the basketball players who paved the way for her and Cheryl was one of them.
