This was also part of a 17 match unbeaten run against Chelski before the Abramovich era. Dixon, Petit, Kanu and Overmars mixing it up with our soon to be "betters" gives me chills. We owned them for so long and now we aren't even in the same league.

Let us not forget that Kanu moved to Arsenal and achieved all this after a Heart surgery. He was a star for Nigeria at the Olympics, Inter Milan, Ajax before the heart surgery. Even Ronaldo De Lima said Kanu made football look easy during their Inter Milan days. If he was completely healthy, he could have been more dangerous upfront. The heart surgery slowed him down later. After the 1996 Olympics, with the array of stars in the world, Kanu was named the 6th best player worldwide. Kanu was amazing from 98-01. Love how he would sit down keepers and pass it in. Quality! His performances were not as good after that, plus limited game time, but he played a big part till 04. Loved the celebration of him jumping over Wiltord at Old Trafford in that title winning goal. Will never be forgotten by the Arsenal fans, he’s a loved player for sure. As the Arsenal fans sung his name when he scored for us. Kkaannuuuuuu!!!!!! ❤️ Great footballer for the Arsenal.

I remember watching this at the bar of the hotel I was briefly staying and that third goal looked like a mirage. KAN-U-BELIEVE IT was all I needed to hear to conclude that it was goal and not a side net. I feared Chelsea was going to bounce back but it was too late. 15-minutes of Kanu’s genius brain and legwork. A team where Thiery Henry sits on the bench was one to beat. I think the Liverpool comeback (Asharvin) was the closest and perhaps the Reading (Carling Cup) comeback gives me that feel.

Kanu is a wonder boy; creating possibilities when impossibility is written everywhere. Only an enemy will deny him of his Legend-hood. Papilo is simply a master Legend.

He didn't play all the time because after signing for Arsenal, he developed a heart condition, he played all through with that condition which eventually slowed him down. What a legend.

Arsene Wenger looked young and handsome at 50.

When I saw Ed de Goey out there with Kanu, I knew exactly what Kanu was going to do as an African because that is the kind of thing we do as Africans playing with our mates, so I wasn't surprised. My only surprise was he dared to do it in a PL game because most Africans aren't themselves when playing in Europe. They become robots all in the name of professionalism.
