Honestly, this was a comedy filled call session. Started with the first caller Sam setting the tone by taking a shot at Jamie. Soon as Mo called in, I adjusted my seat saying, here we go!!!

Sterling as been probably one of England's best players at tournaments, Not sure why he's been dropped because he's done nothing wrong at international level.

Tomori was snubbed cuz he plays in another country. He should be in the team. Could've brought Mitchell or even Lewis Hall into the preliminary squad at least for a look. I know Hall probably hasn't played enough this season and is young but he's a real talent. Just doesn't make sense to have no left back and Shaw probably won't be match fit.

I like Tomori would like to see him get more of a chance. But Southgate has said previously he makes mistakes/errors, I would imagine that was based on some statistical data. Also worth noting you're talking about a player who played in an AC Milan Team that conceded 5 goals across 2 games to Graham potters Chelsea team (who could barely scrape a goal a game in the league) just last year. In which he was at fault for a couple of goals if memory serves. And While Milan have kept a number of clean sheets they are 10th in Serie A for goals conceded.

Tomori should have been 1st team player for 2 years now, next to Stones instead of Maguire. And at least one pick of Mitchell, Hall or Chilwell need to be in the squad. A real left-footed LB brings balance to build-up play! Even though I am happy with the rest of the selection...but no idea what Southgate is thinking. I hope this his last tournament at the helm.

Yeah get a league manager in for a job that is predominantly knockout tournaments. If they can be successful working with their players day in day out they will definitely be successful working with their players a couple of weeks a year.

I think players being picked for England should be judged firstly on how they have performed for England Not what they have done for their club recently. If a player then gets dropped because of poor performances for England, then you look at players do well for clubs to replace them ,or if a player retired from the England team. Foreign countries always seem to pick players who have done well at international level. In England we are to quick to drop people based on club performances,I believe there should be a balance. Maybe that's why we havnt won anything

Southgate is a political coach....He wants to balance things up for the hierachy. Sancho is better than grealish for now...Maguire. A half fit Reece James is better many defenders he too along. Meanwhile its a provisional squad. Why not give james chance in the preliminary to proof his fitness? That is why they are yet to win a major trophy for a long while. Its all down to their political selections. Soughtgate hasnt learn his lessons.

I get the feeling that he knows he's going after this tournament, so he's just gonna go for it this time (as much as his nature will allow him to anyway), whereas before, his only goal was to get through to the KO stages playing super safe, boring football in a bid to keep hold of the job. A number of recent England managers have taken that strategy. The bold ones, the ones who can actually coach, and/or don't need the job, like Venables, Hoddle, Robson and Keegan (who didn't need the job to further his career), actually take calculated risks to try to win. Unproven managers, or managers who haven't won anything as a coach or player, like McClaren, Taylor, and Southgate will always choose survival over risk taking. Survival doesn't win you tournaments very often, but if you're lucky, it can keep you in the job. Southgate has been lucky because he has a MUCH better pool of players than those two predecessors.

In all seriousness, I would not be the least bit surprised if the English FA very quietly has a quota system in place to prevent the full senior national team from being a virtually all Black/biracial side like France. Because the reality is nearly the entire senior team would be Black/biracial players if it was just based on talent alone. And before anyone starts to mock, banter, or belittle I’m White myself and have spent decades playing, coaching, and officiating at high levels of the game. What I’m saying is based on objectively watching players and their performance levels, nothing more.
