Chelsea Co-Owner Boehly: We're Going to Figure It Out

Todd Boehly, Chelsea FC co-owner, says the fans are demanding and everyone wants to win. He says the owners are committed to the team as a long-term project. The English Premier League team is currently in 12th place. He speaks to Michael Milken at the Milken Institute Global Conference.

Yes because this is his fault... You sound stupid and ignorant at this point.. If he was some rich Arab no one would have a problem with it, this is England's bias against America. That's ok, belive me we know why lol.. But at the end of the day does it make sense for this guy to buy the club and some how intentionally make it worse? He's a business owner right? So that revolves around revenue, that means making money for you slow folks. Here's an interesting game you guys can play with each other... Who decided Abromovich needed to go? And why was he asked to leave as Chelsea's owner? Then look in the mirror..... 😂

The one redeeming thing I can say about this ownership is I do think they want to win first & foremost, not be content lining their pockets coasting in top 4 giving fans no memories along the way (a la ENIC & Spurs). They are Abramovich's spiritual successors in that sense, but my god they have ALOT to learn about English football culture. If there's one lesson I hope gets learnt from this season, there's a lot more but this one is a good start, the next time we're lucky enough to have one of the best managers in the world who the fans have a connection with, you bend over backwards to keep him! Doesn't matter if he's a pain to work with, completely irrelevant, if he's producing you suck it up & keep him.

There’s more to that in football from the top to the bottom of the club. I think what he needs is a proper director to take charge in the club as well as a proper manager as well and let them take charge, him trying to do too much causes problems for him and the team.

He made the same mistake Mike Ashley made when he took over Newcastle, surrounded himself with people who know nothing about football and put people in decision making positions that have no right to be operating at those levels. I don’t actually think Potter would have been a bad appointment if he had actually been allowed to develop his OWN team and change the squad more organically rather than having an onslaught of signings I’m sure he never asked for and probably wouldn’t suit the way he intended to play. The decision to bring in Lampard was ridiculous, if the decision to bring in an interim appointment was as good as writing the season off, then they might as well have just continued the season with Potter and either fired him at the end or accepted a transitional season with a host of players forced on him with no preseason behind them. If they wanted a replacement manager they should have had one line up and if one didn’t want to join part the way into a season then hold on to Potter until the season ends, it’s that simple.

It's clear that Beohly has a great understanding of business, markets and branding but we have to agree that he has no idea about football. Sometimes humility is a trait that most of these so called business leaders need to learn and adopt. Roman Abramovich was humble enough to stay away from the day to day running of the club and he hired the best to take care of the players and manage the brand. He only made executive decisions in line with the vision his team was implementing. Boehly is a proud man and it won't end well. I can assure you Sir. You have bitten more than you can chew.

Even if Chelsea bounces back and improves significantly next season, there's a fundamental flaw within the organisation. The upper management has no patience to see their seeds grow and I suspect such lack of patience stems from their pride and thin skin. The new ownership seems to have lower tolerance towards embarrassment. If things go south again they will panic and set the reset button which sets every progress back to ground zero.

When Roman took over, he expected the team to win right away and they did. Such a big difference between winner and loser in the way they think, even though they both spent huge amount of money on players.

Toad Boil-he needs to llloaaw it. It is common sense that before you buy into a business you study the market and how it works and find solutions to problems you believe you can solve. He wants a yes man for a coach but the reality is for Chelsea to remain at top level a coach is not going to be a yes man. Its sad because Chelsea were forced to be sold. But to Toad's credit he has signed greay young players but he needs to sign the right coach. Luis Enrique was super ideal. But if Pochinttino is the next coach then make him start now with Lampard taking a back seat and learning how to manage a squad. Any decent manager can see that it is better to start Badiashale instead of Azpi. Azpi has slowed down a lot and made many mistakes it is better he comes on from the bench. He aint as sturdy as Thiago Silva to be starting
