Check Ioniq 5 Battery Data with This Tool! | Every Owner Should Have One

This little device unlocks access to your cars sensors that would otherwise go unseen. Pair it with the Carscanner app available on iOS/Android and you've unlocked a plethora of data to help you better understand your Ioniq 5 or any EV for that matter. It would be amazing if we had access to these data points directly from the cars screen (Cars has temperature and voltage readouts forever) but until then, this is our only option.

Thanks Just bought one, hope it helps with my Ioniq 5 2022 SEL with 95,000 miles. I'm having trouble charging with a Level 2 Charger at home. I'm going to the Dealer tomorrow with a sheet I got online that addresses the issue. Thanks to you and others for sharing your finding with us. I'll be sure to make a video about my troubles and upload once I have all the information. Peace and Love be with you and yours.

In addition to power drain concerns, keeping any OBDII plugged in for longer periods of time exposes the vehicle to hacking risks. I have the same unit, which works wonderfully, but I find myself unplugging it when I’m not on a road trip where these metrics really matter.

I recently bought an OBD dongle and used car scanner app today. Have you thought about doing a video explaining all the different fields the app shows with a detailed explanation? An example is it shows 2 coolant temps but I don't know which is which. Plus there are also other readings displayed that I have no clue what they mean. I have tried searching online but haven't found anything that does a good job going thru all the different data fields.

Hello Corbin good timing I just bought the VeePeak OBD 2+ the one reason I wanted it is I have heard that ABRP is the best map system for road trips driving an EV and this OBD allows you to have the full display on the screen. I did speak with them and asked if you can leave the OBD plugged in 24/7 they said you can , what do you think? I also just heard that Google maps have just come out with an EV Google maps . @@teedteed9130 Oh you were lucky to find a used one , I am in Canada West Coast very hard to get here I have heard they are selling well over the list price. I havent used the Google Maps yet it looked good , the problem with ABRP is if you want it to come through on your car screen you have pay , it free for the basic , what I am going to do is use Google but plan it out on ABRP for free , but in most cases I will know my route so Google showing the EV stations is good , but also the Genesis Nav system is very good , which is just about the same as the Ioniq5 there maybe a few updates on the 2023 model .

Corbin, I have been waiting for your input about OBD2 dongles to monitor battery temperatures and other features while charging as well as other APPs like A Better Route Planner. I hope you have or can get the information to link these either simultaneously or if that is not possible, let us know the best way to connect the various programs we will want for our cars. I have a 2022 Ioniq 5 Long-range, Limited AWD. The Ioniq does not have wireless Connection for Android Auto, so I have the Ottocast Bluetooth Broadcast which plugs in and communicates to my Galaxy Note 10+. I am still trying to figure out the best way to Use Android Auto vs the Hyundai internal navigation. (I'm old but trying to keep up.) Can OBD2 Dongles which include Bluetooth stay connected to the phone separately from the Ottocast, or will there be some sort of conflict. I have Better Route Planner Pro version and been they have recommended the OBD Link CX as the OBD Dongle. Will that work with the ELM Car Scanner App you demonstrated in the Video? I am trying to figure if I would need the the EV Notify App , Tronity, or some other app for ABRP. Thanks for all your help and great Posts!

Displaying about 6 percent discrepancy in remaining energy (47.8 kw) versus SOC (66%).

Considering the Ioniq 5 12V battery drain issue, I wouldn't reccomend doing so especially if you don't need to see the data but only occasionally

You can get an OBD2 extention cable with switch for $11 from Amazon. Then you can leave it connected and just hang it over the base of the steering wheel, and only turn it on when you want to read the data. That way you won't run down the 12v battery

Yes, there is battery health parameter that will say the percentage of battery degradation. An engineer told me that that number is truly representative

Because until very recently I had no confirmation that you could trust what it was showing and just last week an engineer confirmed to me that you can. I'd rather avoid talking about something until I know with any certainty instead of spreading false information
