Inspect fuel cap, detecting nothing 2. Reattach fuel cap (5 clicks) 3. Drive to Costco 4. Collect my dog’s prescription 5. Have a slice of cheese pizza 6. Text a devastatingly beautiful woman 7. Have a chocolate sundae 8. Drive home victorious Some will call this conflating correlation with causation. I disagree. Also, it’s important to order cheese, not pepperoni, at Step #5. Thanks again.

I bought a standard gas cap replacement and that didn't work so I bought an official Honda Element gas cap and it cost about $50! The damn light is still blinking! I'll try disconnecting the battery tomorrow. Damn....

@@EyeOnAiman Well guess what? I got in my 2011 CRV this morning I started the vehicle and I was reading your reply. Looked up and “check fuel cap”was on. I just filled up yesterday and I checked and had just filled up the last 2 times this happened. Replace cap? Sensor?

I cycled my key on and off 3x, twice in the Harbor Frieght parking lot and once while in line to get gas. It worked! Thank you!

You are talking about a "push valve" to replace if changing the cap does not work. You went over it very quick. Could you elaborate a little more on that valve , where it is located etc. Thanks

The reason the fuel cap message comes on is because there is a problem with the EVAP system. This will not go away because you clean the fuel cap and disconnect the battery. It will come back on. The problem is usually the EVAP purge valve. Same thing happened to me. Nothing worked. Took it to a mechanic and they did not find anything. I changed the EVAP purge valve on my 2010 honda civic. It fixed everything. Seems to be a common problem with these going bad.

Very helpful video. All I had to do was, open up my fuel cap and put it back on, made it click 3 times, got back on my car, turn it back on, hit the reset lil button on the left side, and it was gone. I shouldn't have quit ctc when I was in High School. Now I have to watch videos haha 🙈🙈 But yea man, you really helped me. I was not panicking or anything like but I was a lil frustrated cuz I just took my car to the mechanic to fix the exhaust pipe and .. since I don't know anything about cars I thought, wtf !!! Not again, my money be draining outta my pocket like that ? now way !! hahaha

1st 2 weeks with my brand new 2020 Honda Fit and it's already doing this. Also pulls to the left and makes a high pitched squeal (coming from under the car behind the driver's seat,) above 55mph.

mine does the same thing ! and i don’t know what it is or how to fix it , i took it to the mechanic but they told me to change my tires, i don’t know if that was the problem tho, did you fix yours?

Mine came up with this code today. It was not apparent when i drove to this work this morning. When i left for work i started my car and it showed up. Stayed on all day. Its now 9pm and its gone. Couldve been a weird sensor. But it is fine now.

You could buy a brand new aftermarket gas cap from eBay for $10, with free returns & 2 year warranty. Just google & search on eBay. Alternatively, if you're lucky you can get a used pre-owned OEM genuine one on Ebay for around $20-$30.
