Met Skyler (and Karl actually too) at the mosconi in Vegas 2022. He was the 1st player I had met at the venue and he was unbelievably humble and gracious, imho anyway he seems like a really nice down to earth guy. I really hope he does well after the switch to cuetec as he seems to have an uncharacteristic miss or two in him every match since the switch, which may be affecting his confidence time to time. Hopefully he gets this ironed out and gets a few more tournament wins under his belt. Top guy! Keep up the good work Karl, really enjoy watching the what's in the bag videos!

An earlier what’s in the bag video from a year or so ago he said he had shot with a sub 12mm shaft and didn’t like it, so changed back to 12.5mm. The playing shaft is 12.25, maybe 12.5 is is limit in comfort.

Skyler signed with Cuetec a few months after I had bought my avid and when I saw him playing with the exact same cue as mine trust me I was soooo happy and excited. Avid has been my most expensive billiard purchase so far, and to see a top class pro like Skyler playing with this cue while others using twice or thrice as expensive ones makes me feel so good, I cannot explain in words

To anyone reading and thinking about a new cue, there is no contest at that price point. Phenomenal cues for the money. And they also work with the Cynergy shaft if you want to go carbon fiber.

Stephen Hendry won the world snooker championship 7 times with a rack cue he found in a snooker hall. Probably under $50 He was never the same player after it got broken. Cues aren’t very important. Pool is so commercialised people get obsessed with spec and detail rather than hours and hours of familiarity with the same cue which is the most important

A friend of mine used Avid for sometime, least over a year or 2. They upgraded to Cynergy a couple days ago and love it. You definitely can't blame the equipment using CF. Also if you like to bang your cue on the table or likes thru passion for the game, Carbon Fiber is the only way to go. You won't warp it as it can take a real beating.

@@jiddon3446 - I agree. To illustrate your point, I've played with a few good house cues and did just fine with them. My old Cuetec SST might improve my play say...3% over a good house cue. But if I were to "upgrade" my old Cuetec to Cynergy, Predator, or Mezz...my play might increase 1% at best. I'm much better off spending my money to practice my weak shots and get better at them, rather than spending money on a new stick.

Sky uses the 12.25 mm shaft, which is now sold to public. I got this shaft after using 13 mm for years on my old Cuetec. I love the Avid 12.25. It's the perfect size. I tried 11.8 carbon fiber cue which hit well...but could stand the taper. I also tried the 12.50 Carbon stick. It's ok as well, but I can't get used carbon fiber. It's harder for me to control the cue ball.

I wanted to say I don't think what Sky playes with matters. They aren't the most expensive cues, but cuetec is a major brand and he plays well with them.

I never knew world class player play with cue below $500. This is a brand we advance players can take into consideration.

There is a video on YT. It's $20. Earl Strickland and Allison Fisher played extremely well on cheap $120 cues. Watch the old videos of these players and see how good they played on old equipment. The newer equipment isn't much better. If you're good, you can pick up a $150 cue and run racks after racks. For most players, practicing will improve your game much more than buying a better stick.
