This is really a great little EDF Jet. I just got mine today and maddened it this evening. It flies great with the 3S 1300mah 75C lipo... Actually I could deal with a little bit more power.... But all in all Its just really great to buzz around. And the plane looks so good in slow flybys. And also the sound is just so amazing - almost whisper mode...

Bought an extra fuse and servo from Arrows and made a workable rudder. The pushrod they sell for the Viper’s ailerons turned out to be the PERFECT length. Haven’t had a chance to fly with a workable rudder, I’ll let you know. (Easy install of the servo if you have a Dremel and Exacto blade. Just copied the placement and tilt of the rudder servo on the Arrows Marlin) Dropping in a 40 amp ESC. Planing on making this fuse all about 4s. I’ll keep you posted. Wish I had shot a video of the rudder upgrade. I’ll leave that to the professionals like you.

Nice maiden Nate great video Abby. I use a 3s 1300 40c which is pretty zippy. Have flown using a 4s 1300 which is a little faster but I like 3s 1300 batteries best. It's a fun flyer for sure. Can you do an explanation on batteries, especially what the "C" rating is or means? I see that all the time, and everyone mentions things like that, but I haven't seen anyone explain it. Great jet! I want one! But I need to learn first. 😁

“C” refers to the battery’s capacity, usually listed in milliamp-hours (mAh) or amp-hours (Ah). (1Ah = 1,000mAh.) A “C” rating is a multiple of that capacity. For example, consider a 1,500mAh (1.5Ah) pack: if it has a 30C discharge rating, it can handle loads of up to 30 x 1.5A = 45A. If it has a charge rating of 2C, it can be charged at up to 2 x 1.5A = 3A. Exceeding these specifications can damage the battery beyond normal wear-and-tear, possibly shortening its useful life significantly or outright destroying it.

Arrows Hobby is about to release a twin 64mm mig that appears to be a 4 channel. Based on this and your review if the Bigfoot it may be a winnner

Servo horns should be on upper surface of the wing for better durability. Better if 3s/4s compatible. Otherwise looks like a great jet. The Banana Hobby one was a great flier but the wings required reinforcement. I like the squarer look of this model. The EDF doesn’t look accessible?

I might get this, I’ll also buy a reflex stabilization thing, do you recommend this for a 2nd plane

Nate if you want to have a blast, drop in a 1300 4s 75c battery and hold on, my onboard gps clocked a top speed of 118 mph, not to shabby for $100 jet...

The lack of landing gear option makes this one a pass for me. We don't have grass to smooth belly landings at our field, and the dirt runway would just scrape the daylights out of the bottom of the plane (even with the plastic parts to guard it). I do have the Freewing 64mm Stinger EDF, at close to the same price point, and which does offer optional landing gear for those of us that prefer having wheels for touchdown. If I had a grass field, though? That Viper would be very tempting.

What is the single wire coming from esc?

Would LOVE this jet, but impossible to find in Australia (unless an Aussie viewer can recommend a retailer). Hobbyking SHOULD stock it, but don't. Hobbyking should stock the Arrows MARLIN, too but don't stock that either. I went for a Freewing 64mm Lippisch for $199Aud including postage as my first edf.

Just curious, is this jet similar to flying the e flight thunderbirds 70mm edf?

Definitely not a good first airplane; first jet perhaps, but more like third overall, after a trainer and a sport model. Much better to start with something like a high-wing trainer - the HobbyZone Champ, AeroScout, Sport Cub, Carbon Cub, and E-flite Valiant come to mind as examples. Once you’ve mastered the basics and then a less-docile/forgiving and faster sport model, you’ll be better prepared to move up to the EDF jet world. 😁

Hi guys. Couple weeks ago you shared what a good value the Aeroscout is. I am happy to say I found one locally and it IS awesome. Now I am interested in the terrif value in your link to the Arrows Viper RC jet (even if I dont fly it till really comfy). I understand it's PNP but I'm not yet sure what I need to add to it. My Aeroscout's Spektrum DXeS controller/transmitter: that IS programmable and compatible, right? So then Do I need to buy only a receiver, battery, and charger? Thanks.

Id like to use this receiver. AR630 DSMX 6-Channel AS3X & SAFE Receiver. Anyone see any issues with it?

How much throttle do you give on launch? Mine kept doing a bit of a nose dive on the hand launch, but maybe I didn't have the throttle up enough. I finally got it launched, but had to throw it hard.

i always go about 90% throttle with a little bit of up elevator and it flies out of my hand with a small push and starts climbing

Hand launched means two people right? Would if your just ONE PERSON AT THE AIRFIELD??

I hand launched it 100% by myself but it can help to have a second toss for you 😃👍⚓😎

There isn’t much difference in price between this and the eflite f15,and umx citation,I would rather pay more for something with as3x,this plane will be a handful in some wind especially hand launching it into wind without as3x and safe assistances

May as well get the Arrows Marlin for little extra money...

I would recommend getting something like the xk a180 or some other little jet to get used to flying planes and elevator turning

My son bought this jet off your recommendation. He crashed it 3x as it had tendency as we now see in video of rolling to left. Why not make that comment about this jet? It would been helpful

Not thst you asked me but looks like an appropriate 2nd may be 3rd plane. Being low wing and edf that ups the difficulty. Being bank and yank ( no rudder) is what may make it good as a 2nd plane. Edf doesn't have the power on command as much as a traditional prop So moves need to be a little more planned and it's not as easy to get out of trouble. Hand launch is also a bit more difficult. @Eddy Jin I don't think it would need to be that late in the line up. Edf isnt all that scary lol. Really I picked up a very old first gen mig 15 that was so cheap and had been crashed so many times I could afford not to care. I flew it at least 10x before killing it. Not that I'm good just that it was easier than I thought. Just fast and slow to turn and take off.

Hey Nate, try it with a 1550mah 4S quadcopter battery and add a rudder and the results are sublime, faster than bigger 6s EDF's and certainly not for beginners in this configuration. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iGdpmsircdvViKw.html, this is mine with to much gyro gain, now turned down it is much faster and easily does inverted spins. We fly these at our club in formationish, lol
