CHEAPER and BETTER!! 2024 BYD Atto 3 Update detailed review (MY24 - EV SUV test)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Lower price? Better tyres? Nicer look? Bigger screen? There's heaps to like about this update!! Subscribe here: / @therightcar
The revised BYD Atto 3 (Yuan Plus) electric SUV doesn't look completely different, but there have been some important changes made to the MY24 Update version of the Atto 3 in Australia.
The brand has lowered the prices - now starting at $44,499 plus on-roads - and they've also improved the standard spec, with a new 15.6-inch rotating display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
And the Build Your Dreams badge is gone from the back, and there's a black design finisher instead of the chrome fin thing that was fitted before.
But most importantly? The old tyres have been dumped in favour of new Continental rubber, which is a HUGE improvement.

I drive my 2022 Atto 3 in Eco mode, which has no issues keeping up with traffic and overtaking, and my energy consumption is 14.1kW per 100km. The first thing I did after taking delivery was upgrading the tyres to Continental Ecocontact tyres, which vastly improved handling and braking in all weather conditions.

Great review. I've been driving the Atto3 for 18 months and love it. I would like to see some one make a "blind test" video on tires, because I think most people wouldn't notice a difference with everyday driving. Not sure if it's my imagination but the Batman's seem to be improving with age.

I have had my 2023 model extended range for 6 months now, absolutely love it, I did tons of research before buying, with special attention to the long term viability of the brand, and as they control and produce pretty much the entirety of their supply chain, so I guess I’m buying into something that will be here in years to come, which is more then I could say about many other EV manufacturers. The Eagers group is pretty anal about you touching anything with the electrical system, I had asked them at time of purchase weather I could get an auto electrician to wire in a 12 volt socket in the back cargo area, they were pretty straightforward with there answer of “No”, Tonnes of accessories online, I’ve got the roof racks, step sides, seat covers, storage trays in all sorts of locations ! Attention BYD, this is an amazing little car, but how about a 12 volt socket in the back ? Some fog lights ? A frunk that is officially supported by BYD, a bigger and better system for the instrument cluster, perhaps with an adjustable mechanism to slide it back further for those of us that are just requiring reading glasses. 🤓 but don’t wear them when driving. More apps, I understand why you don’t want people sideloading apps, but Waze would be amazing ! Bigger and better door bottle bins, seems like there is space there for them.

Matt good review. One point you mention the regen is ‘limited’. No it doesn’t have one pedal driving but the system uses about the top one third of brake application as regen before the friction brakes engage. This is the same philosophy that Porsche uses and they’ve produced lots of info as to why they believe this produces more recovery than the one pedal system. I find it fine although lots of folk are really after one pedal…… more a preference than a true ‘better’ regen system

@@andrewd7586 I think $300 just to "check" over the car is a bit of a rip-off IMHO. Fair enough if that price included parts but it doesn't, it's just labour. At least Tesla have the right mind when it comes to servicing (as required). I think EV manufacturers are just wanting to recoup some of the initial costs with charging for servicing every 12 months - they think because ICE vehicles require it, so do EVs. But in reality they don't require as much. I'd be happy to pay $120 or something like that per service every 12 months to have the vehicle checked over.

Every vehicle needs servicing at some point or would you rather wait until the warranty has expired and have costly repairs that you could have been fixed under warranty, if you did a service before the warranty period expired on your Tesla. They call it preventative maintenance for a reason. I don't know if the 2024 servicing schedule is more expensive now for the Atto 3, but for my 2022 Atto 3 and driving no more than 12,000km per year, my first 12,000km was free and the next 4 x 12 month services are capped at $189 per service.
