You did many things right in this video. Camera, audio were good. The only thing that gives you a big minus is the negative comments on the Dodge. Sounds to me you wanted to plant seeds for failure no matter what the results were. I have had both trucks Dodge and Ford. I would suggest (since you are the reviewer) keeping personal feelings out of the picture and let the viewers watch. Neither one is great but overall I pick the Dodge. The reason? Looks, power, comfort and towing. The Ford was good too in its own ways.

So I owned both trucks and used them for a period of time to get a personal opinion. I got stranded, wallet assaulted, and trouble out of the dodge, where as the Ford, simply worked. I choose a Tundra any day over both these toilets, but Tundras cost big money, so for the cheap, I'd say it depends on what you are doing with it, as shown in the video. Thanks for the comment

On the ford, looked like the trailer was putting too much weight on the hitch. If you had room to move the car back on the trailer a bit more I think that would have greatly improved the handling. I've towed quite a bit with my 97 F-150 extended cab and I found load placement to greatly impact stability.

Entertaining video and I know you hate RAM. I grew up in Ford F150s and i bought Ford's up until 2015. Depending on the model year Ford I had, somtimes I spent more money keeping them running than the monthly payment. I bought a new ram 1500 in 2015 and still driving it. Replaced battery at year seven. Minus airbag recalls, not one single failure at 141000 miles. A truck will last longer just doing basic maintenance regardless of the brand.

I'm not much on making comments on youtube. BUT, when you start off a video comparison and stating one is a "giant piece of junk" how can you expect any viewer to respect your opinion when you are already reflecting a bias opinion? We all have brand preferences. We all have had different experiences from one brand to another. I will say my family, and I have four siblings, has had phenomenal success with Mopar brand products. BUT, many other people and families have not. Same goes for Ford and GM. Let me say I am not just commenting for the Dodge bashing either. If this was a GM vs. Ford I would be turned off by the beginning of this video as well. I have owned all of the Big Three and very much respect each one. Each one has made phenomenal strides and constantly keep rising to the occasion when their competitors best them. I shall end this comment with this, it's great we have channels such as this one comparing inexpensive trucks, such as these. I did watch the entire video and in my opinion the video was ended in a respectful manner, minus a couple of bias opinions which I respect an individual's opinion. Keep the videos coming. I subscribed and I will keep watching.

I worked for a local school district for 35 years. Plowed snow for 30years. Went through 5 trucks four F 350's one GMC 3500. I have to say those Fords were awesome. They sat out in the winter and never failed to start never even in some Brutal winters. Raise that eight foot western no sag the plow just came up. Sit a skid of rock salt in the bed 49 50lb bags nothing did not make a difference in how the truck handled accelerated they were just good trucks. My favorite was a 1992 with a 460 automatic 4 10 axles loved it a true work truck. Pulled Tractors around the district pulled 13,000 pound band trailers all over with them all . The GMC was a 1997 350 auto not sure on the axles and while it was a Good truck my only complaint was the suspension was a little to soft. It didn't haul as good as the Fords and the front would sag when you raised the plow. People said we could crank up the torsion bars, but in my opinion when you buy a work truck it should be ready to work from the factory. Especially if you order it as we did tow and plow package.

Makes sense. This is anecdotal evidence of course, but most people I know that had the Chevys weren't fans of the independent front suspension they had. It's not a bad idea. Chevy trying to make their heavy duty trucks ride better. They just didn't build them heavy enough. I think they're better now on the newer ones, but late 90s early 2000s not so much. Gold's front end was just a solid axle and leaf springs. Right out of the 50s and 60s kind of thing. Rode horrible, but was tough as nails as you pointed out.

Now when it comes to pulling I have to say the 5.4 2V triton is a beast! I still currently own two 1999 Ford Expeditions! I love the first generation! The 4.6 and 5.4 is night and day difference with power and torque! I think the Expedition pulls and tows a lot better than a F150 around the same year! Awesome video, love the realism. Although those are 2 different generations of trucks. The challenge was catered to the dodge. Longer wheel base, larger truck in general. That ford had way too much tongue weight for the shorter wheelbase. I remember doing some towing in a 99 exactly like that one with my dad years ago and that thing never skipped a beat. That wasn’t exactly apples to apples comparison. I know the price you were trying to stay under is why but I’d revisit this challenge with quad cab to quad cab. Makes a world of difference

Lol stop acting like what he says about Chrysler ain’t true. The Dodge trucks are great for being a truck that’ll pull and you don’t have to care much for it. I’d get the Hemi in it so all I have to worry about is the trans when it goes out, and I mean when. Electrical issues also purge these trucks. Now on to the Ford, these things were decent at best. Styling was outdated by the year 2005, I however did like these bodies a lot but to be pair to all who see them, they aren’t one of the favorite bodies. They tend to rust and are usually falling apart around the motors. Both were great motors, the 5.4L 2V being right before the dreadful 3V. I haven’t really seen transmission problems but they are there. Just not as bad as the Explorers of the next years. All in all, I pick the Ford just because of the 4.6L.

Both did it well. I will say the Durango out performed the ford. List of engine and drive train repairs needed to keep the 4.6L explorer going. Timing guides wore out at 150k miles, spark plug blow out, intake coolant cross over burst 130k, oil filter adapter leak at 120k miles, transmission failure at 165k miles. Vehicle still runs great today at 199k miles. Durango, engine repairs exhaust manifold bolts broke 135k miles. Transmission was going in an out of lock up at 65-80mph, found faulty TPS sensor at 175k miles. Cam positions sensor at 185k miles. Durango runs great has 187k miles on it. Both have received similar maintenance and care.

Both vehicles could have the same problems one is labeled a POS And the other is just old and to be expected. 😂🤣 I was mechanic for over 10 years and could get both of these trucks running tip top again. There are so many issue with this video. The fact that there is 7 years between these two trucks is a huge non validation point.you probably cant find a 5.2l 1998 Dodge out there, and the 2005 F150 with a 4.6 is far over the $2k budget. The wheelbase is only 1" longer on the dodge, also its only 1.5" wider(overall). The cab is longer, and the box is shorter, thats it. That 5 speed transmission vs the 4 speed in the Ford makes a difference, the sway issue is too much tongue weight. Its 10% of the total weight of the trailer. The ford 4.6 has 220hp/280lbft, and that 4.7 dodge has 235hp/300lbft. Even though the numbers are both sad the advantage of extra gears and more torque will be in the dodge's court. The extra 1000lbs of empty truck makes a difference when towing.

The dilemma is real! All will bolt in. Not sure but i think the 6.2 will bolt in as well. Bro . Your electrical problem in the Dodge is your TIPM aka Totally Integrated Control Module. You made it sound like there is no way to fix the problem. I've owned both brands... I'm a Ram Man Now. That Triton was horrible. Spark plugs in models 04-08 good luck getting those out yourself and the VCT Valves constantly gets clogged. That truck was in the shop more then I drove it. Besides that. My 14 ram made in Nov of that year. So I say it's a 15. But I'm at 183k and I still get 22mpg average. No hemi tick . No bullshit. I pull up to 23 5.7 hemis side by side and my engine sounds just as good today as it did the day I took it off the lot .

Those Triton motors in the Ford's hadvspark plug and head gasket issues. I've owned trucks from the big 3, they've all had some issues but overall my Dodges have done more with less than the Ford's and GM. Always interesting to see the comments and they diehard fans.

My father inlaws 03 ram 1500 4.7 lasted 250000 miles to get there it needs the tranny replaced 3 time 2 remanufactured rear difs and 3 complete engine rebuilds and the fuckers wipers still go crazy without touching them and he can be driving down the road and pull the key out of the ignition and the truck still drives as if the keys are in it 🤣 he retired that pos 3 yrs ago and what did he do!!! He bought another one!!!! This time a 05 ram2500 with the 5.7 hemi 😂

Not sure about your biases, but uh, they're showing. My Dodge, that I've had for 12 years, has had ONE problem. The blower motor. I replaced it. It works. It'll out pull other brands. It's a truck. Pulling a d fuel mileage are non compliant. If it pulls more, pulls better and last longer because it's working less......guess what. THAT, is the better truck. You should probably have this test done by individuals who have no bias toward Chevy's. If ya like Chevy's just say so, no need for this theatre

I am certainly all for Ford over here, I love ford and they last forever, but I did in fact buy that same dodge since it was a cheap. I got a 2002 ram 1500 4.7 and a 5 speed, and I’ll tell you I absolutely loved that truck and still have it until I can sell it to buy an f250. At first I was not a huge fan of the 4.7, as it has 3 huge issues. But, after seeing one of my friends with a 4.7 in their grand Cherokee do 260k miles of absolute abuse, I got interested. And sure enough if you take care of the 4.7 it will last even if you beat it. Unfortunately it lacked power so I am going to sell it. But all in all actually really enjoyed the truck.

Lol my 06 Dakota with the 4.7 would drive while in park. It had so many electrical gremlins in its 3 year run with me

I have had 00 f150 and bought it with 98,000 miles and had it for ten years. So when I stopped driving it I’d gotten 310,000 miles. But when it comes to towing my 19 f150 it does way better than my old 00 ever did

Comparing apples to oranges. Although the engine liters are close, the structures are different. Compare a 2004- 2005 4.6 F150 to the ram, then the test would be equal. If not, then could compare a 1994-2001 Dosge Ram 5.2 for handling comparison to the 1998 F150.

I dont know much about the 4.7 But my 2003 5.9 magnum back in the day was at 294,000 miles on orginial motor, I never put a transmission in it since i bought it with 242,000 but im sure its had atleast one. The A/C kinda sucked but other than that it was an awesome and great running truck and looked so good.

The older trucks from the mid 1990s and earlier b4 all the computers and electronic nonsense were and still are so simple to repair which to me is a big factor when it comes to reliability and longevity. Plus the older trucks just look so much better than anything new. I don't like how trucks have become luxury vehicles now. It just seems wrong lol

Looked/sounded like the Dodge had an aftermarket exhaust, I think if the Ford had one also it might have picked up a few horsepower for towing acceleration (also the ‘99-up 4.6L has more horsepower)
