I am an Aussie living in Western Australia. We have 1 shop in the whole of the state that handles recumbent trikes. We need some competition here as recumbent trikes have taken off like wildfire. There are NONE AVAILABLE IN THE WHOLE STATE!!! There is 1 second hand trike I’m looking at tomorrow! That’s correct ONE second hand trike. You guys need to have some presence in the state. Cheers. Thank you. I'm a disabled vet looking into this as an option for me to get outside and lose some weight. My back issues make a regular bike not a great option. Being on a budget makes a trike not realistic. Great video

I'm thinking the same thing. I had spinal surgery that left me with a semi-useful leg that restricts me from driving but if I can ask you a few (?) I'd be grateful. How heavy is it to lift with 1 arm? Does it fit thru a front door? Can you apply accessories? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks and good luck.

Thanks for the kind words! Nice thing is that a lot of these upgrades can happen over time, so you don't have to start out with all the upgrades at once.

Some years ago my wife had a delta trike like the ecotad. She rolled it going around the corner too ast and refuse to ride it after that. Your tadpole wheel configuration my be the way to get her riding again.

I really like your video’s! One comment, how about giving price points for the base, then the price for the upgrades. I keep wondering how much that finished UT Killer 24 ended up costing. I was ready to buy an HP fx20. Now I’m thinking the higher seat and stability would be better for a 70 year old going on 21. Why the horizontal bars vs vertical? And what is the difference between direct steering and indirect? How do you shift gears, where are the levers located? Darn it, I keep changing my mind every time I watch another one of your videos. I’ll never buy one if you keep doing these. Just pick one for me and send it before I’m riding a casket! My birthday is in 12 days. Is it true I get 50% off on your birthday. Just kidding. That has more versatility than my Greenspeed GTO.

Do some riding videos with certain models. Trail on trails. 559 etc

Love your videos Thanks! One constructive criticism which is minor. When you show the bikes rotating They spin too fast to really see anything. It would be a lot better if they spun at about half that speed.

The only thing missing from the Annihilator is the Gates belt drive... Sturmey-Archer has a nice 5 speed E-bike specific IGH that pairs well with the Bafang… allowing for a higher torque (150 Newt's) required from a Bafang M-600 (Word around town is that it can handle 200 newts if caution is used) .... after market wheelie bars and after market parachute might take a while though!

Nice seat adjustments...if I took it to the beach could I turn it into a recliner?

I noticed it doesn't have chain idlers just longer guild tubes. Wonder if I can do that on my ECO Tad?

thats what I need to get back and forth to the store, dam doctors don't let me drive anymore and can't walk well enough to use the bus.

I would love a folding eco-Tad annihilator! I am a grandma that loves to ride but have had a hip & knee replacement! I need a sturdy bike that is easy to get on and off of and one that folds so I can transport in my Chevy Tahoe. Or.... is there a hitch rack that would hold a three wheeler on the back of my vehicle, then it does not need to fold! I am alone now and need to have a system that is manageable so that I can be independent! What do you advise Kate?

Looking at your website for the Annihilator version of this trike. I see price at the top is $2399. Lower in the description ig says base price of $2199. Further below in the next paragraph it says $2000. Just wondered which is actual.

Without an electric motor the ECO Tad is not geared for speed. Hills will be difficult and flats will be a great workout at top speed. The ECO24, being outfitted as a "fat trike" with full suspension will be slower because of the entry level gearing and the fatter tires, but it's meant for off-road anyway. With a motor on the ECO Tad hills will be much easier, but top speed on flats wouldn't keep up with road bikes. Both are entry level trikes with many speed and comfort upgrades available. More of both means more money, relatively speaking.

What WAS that noise during that last shot of Louis getting on the trike???

I already own an ICE HD Adventure. Last year I was able to add a bafang 750 watt hub motor. But I want to go across mud and trails. Is the ECO 24 with a motor gonna do it? Oh I weigh 250.

The ECO 24 with a motor is definitely going to do it for you. I'm looking at the ICE Adventure HD because it's built for comfort and I'm all about the smooth ride. I don't know if I would want to take the ICE off-road either. Now that I see that the ECO trikes handles 300 lbs for the rider and an additional 75 lbs for cargo and it's A LOT less expensive than the ICE base model, I'm rethinking the ICE trike. Hmm. My only concern with the ECO trike is the seat width. ; )

I love recumbents and am curious why the seating position is so far from the rear wheel when handling and aerodynamic advantage take place with a more reclined layout. When the seat is slid back all the way you cannot recline comfortably either even though it seems like such a simple solution. Is there a reason that I am not seeing for this?

The more weight rearward on a tadpole trike makes it more likely to tip over on corners. Especially with bigger wheels giving a high centre of gravity. Not built for speed as much as for comfort and low speed fun. If aerodynamics and speed are your thing, there are other trike designs .

Oh yeah 😎. So? A straight frame with NO bends? Looks like front wheels are "Hollowhub"? Interested in maybe 🤔 a Bamboo Frame? DIY? Need front wheel/axle setups maybe use Sun Light Hollowhub wheels 24 inch 🤔 Disc brakes?

Hello, im a 375 pound disabled vet with a destroyed back. Trying to get my weight down but running into physical and weight caps. The initial price is rough to considering I can't test it if my body can handle it. Any recommendations or upgrades that would get me into the ballpark?

One of the difficult things about a recumbent trike is getting in and out of it. It would preclude an overweight person from riding it successfully.

How much difficulty would it be to include a fairing for reduced drag and modesty? I wear kilts.

Yes, we have extensions that allow for the 20x4 fat tires, but because of the dropout width the rear wheel needs to have only one drive sprocket, so either a hub motor or IGH like the Alfine, Nuvinci, or Rohloff.

I don't understand why you don't just go for a 12 speed cassette....what about dynamo options on the bikes?!? And if you go to a wider tire, having an id 30 mm rims would be awesome...

Currently, it doesn't look like Sunseeker has any dealers in Europe.

The rear wheel drive on recumbents of all types requires a long chain. The longer the chain, the more scope - presumably - for maladjustment or failure. I guess there may be cleanliness issues even with the guard sleeve. It looks kind of Heath Robinson and I wonder if manufacturers will ever come up with a better solution. Is front wheel drive out of the question . . . ?

Thinking about chains - There are some advantages to a longer chain - like chainline is far less critical than on an upright (diamond frame) and therefore you get full use of your gears (ie you can do big front chainwheel to big rear sprocket) and less chain wear due to less lateral distortion. This means maladjustment is *less* likely rather than more. My chain (ICE Adventure) is 280 links long, so about two-and-half times longer than that of an upright bike. Most chain wear occurs as the chain links rotate to go round the cogs and sprockets. These are similar size on upright and trike so a 2-and-half times longer chain should last 2-and-half times as long a distance. The guide/guard tubes are normally plastic with PTFE and so are very low friction and tend to stop thrown-up crud getting onto the chain so overall they keep the chain cleaner and therefore contribute to less friction and abrasive wear. Chain tension is more on a trike (because you are driving more mass and overcoming more inertia) and plays on each link so with more links there is presumably a greater likelihood that one link is weak or badly assembled and so might break. Alternatives - I was wondering about shaft drive - the sunseeker frame is straight through and so a shaft would be relatively simple - check out dynamic bicycles (now defunct, sadly) and see how easy a bottom bracket is, and no chainrings needed - but that means you really need hub gears at the rear. Most other tadpole recumbents have frames that are bent to lower the seat (for greater stability) but would therefore complicate shaft drive, and of course foldability would be severely compromised

@@charlilangford3962 shaft drive takes a reasonable amount more effort to drive, and unless totally enclosed will wear out the bevel gears fairly fast. Can only imagine how much more they'll cost to replace than a chain. Then there's aligning them so it doesn't whine like a worn out diff.

Do your research, recumbent trikes are expensive, Utah Trikes will be the first to admit it. For the ECO Tad and ECO 24, their prices are cheap. If you want one, save your pennies. If you really want to be impressed, or depressed as the case may be, check out the AZUB Ti-FLY X. Only $6900, base model. If only they made one for Big 'n Tall gents.

@N Kel - There is value in a $4k bike, just as there is value in a $25K Chevy Truck. If you buy the bike and never use it, that's a different story. I agree with the $30 t-shirt though.

Looks like a truly awesome trike, too bad most of the video was wasted talking about the stock eco tad, pretty much zero about the SA hub, standing up and sitting down does not show the capabilities, if you have customers that can't get on and off they should be in a wheelchair not on a trike. Color me extremely disappointed
