5 MOST INNOVATIVE REVERSE ELECTRIC TRIKES

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Reverse trikes are coming back, especially as electric vehicles dominate the personal transport industry. But what's the appeal in getting a regular trike and driving it backward?
Well, for one, stability. During deceleration and braking, your center of gravity moves forward across the stable base of two wheels instead of one. Making flipping the trike on a sudden stop much less likely.
You've also got more traction going around corners as centrifugal force shifts weight to the outside wheel.
Let's see which of these modern electric reverse trikes are turning heads in 2023.

Trikes are appealing to people who may not be strong enough to balance themselves on motorcycles and large scooters. Trikes can be fitted with large storage compartments too.

I like it too, but I am having trouble seeing a market. Its sporty so its competing with e-motorcycles. why would someone who may want to go up to 55 mph need the extra stability. Is the market partially disabled people?

@@paulsherman7802 Yes I see your point, but it doesn't give someone much more than an ebike does, plus you have to wear wet weather gear if it is raining. It could have a curved polycarb screen that goes from front right over the topo and give a good amount of protection, and have this easily removeable. Have a look at ebikes / emotorbikes with detatchable sidecars, thats a good option too

The Microlette reminds me of an old school Vespa scooter (with an extra front wheel). I love the folding feature of the Mylo as well as it's relatively light weight. Hmmm, wait for years (and put down a hefty deposit) for something that may never appear like the Sway trike. That's a great big NOPE! Out of those you showed I like the Mylo the best, although if I had my choice I'd get the Extreme Bull from Alien Rides. How about a look at _EXISTING_ hybrid and pure electric boats? Not designs that may never be built except as a one-off show item, but actual production boats. Here are just a few companies that make them: Greenline Silent-Yachts Sunreef Twinvee (yes, they _do_ have a pure electric cat) Xshore I'm sure there are a few other's out there, but these are the ones I know are actually in production.

The British made a 3 wheeled auto called the Morgan 3 wheeler. A 2 seater with a V-twin engine out front. Leather interior. This year (2021) was the last year made and were scheduled for phase out. Morgan made other roadsters…all had a wooden frames. Saw my 1st 3 wheeler while Stationed at RAF Lakenheath in 1984. Always wanted one but they were out of my price range…..so I picked up an original Mini Cooper for 350 pounds or quid as the Brits would say.

If someone had some common sense they'd build a 3 wheel gas or electric scooter like the Piaggio MP3 500cc with a lightweight aerodynamic removable weather enclosure and removable saddle bags/rear storage compartments. It'd be fast enough to travel on highways, able to carry 2 people, get great mpgs, for road trips or grocery store runs you could attach the storage compartments. On nice days you can remove the enclosure if you wanted. It could be rode year round, even in light snow with some snow/knobby tires.

Well they all had 3 wheels! I have to be honest with you though…. At the prices of these trikes they sure don’t go very far and most don’t have a back up in case you use the battery until it is drained. You might be better off with my vehicle, the 2012 Toyota Prius Plug-in. On my trip A screen it shows total travel distance of 18,563 miles and my average mpg during that time is 122 miles per gallon! The gas tank holds 10 gallons but I have went 3 months with out having to get gas! I paid $15,000 for it in 2015. My guess is if Toyota ever decides to make an all electric car, it will give Tesla some serious competition.

There were some sweet front wheel trikes but to me the one the smoked the rest was the MYLO model not a super powerful fat bike but had great stats and ease of use and storage. But I live in the city so the street tires do just fine for me. Fat tires hum on the crete. I love my ebikes , got three and two conversion kits sitting in the wings waiting for the next yard sale/flea market donor bike I find. That MYLO has features that make owning an electric bike in the city attractive , mainly the size and weight. Trust me if you are new to this stuff, Not If but when the day comes you are pushing your ride home that fat tire trike will be a beast. It has I believe an 36v 350w hub motor with good ground speed and range . plus it folds flatter than most folding two wheel bikes. My biggest problem with ebikes is I am 6 foot around 200 lbs and real large bikes are hard to carry so I will stretch out 20 inch and 24 inch ( never do 24 inch! you can't find anything in for them.) 26 in is a long way to fall when that time comes I know. The trike seems stable and strong and the pricing was spot on as well! $1500's great price for what you are getting compared to the rest.

@@Fatelvis2 If you are not getting power to the system always check the battery and battery mount, cables and connects from battery to the motor controller. your motor controller has at the least 7 connections that are color coded and not one size fits all so it is easy to work with. Also check your brake handles, they have cut off switches built in and if the the brakes are loose you get a 02 code cutting power to the motor. If you have had a wreck and the handle bars hit something the throttle could be damaged or the on/off controller switch. sorry to hear you got a non street legal system, is it a scooter? if so can you register with DMV. power gremlins are a pain in the butt. Generally it is a loose connection from riding. Some batteries sit down on the end of the battery like the old Silver fish batteries. But would get power interrupt on bumpy roads because over time the battery lock would get loose. If the bike has a direct drive hub motor it will not be the problem they are about bullet proof. planetary geared motor hubs can be over heated and melt solder connections in the motor causing power interrupt or even failure. but can be fixed with a simple soldering. Get it running find someone who just got to have it. sell it to them and get yourself a 1000 watt electric bike conversion kit or 500 watt geared hub kit from Ebikeling ebike conversions and build your own Ebike. Easy fun and cheaper. Plus you know whats what and where to look because you put it together. I have a few kits that I always change out from bicycle to bicycle so i never get bored .

If you knew what you were talking about you would know that there is no backwards trikes except in your mind. They are called tadpole for the 2 wheels in the front and delta for the 2 wheels in the back. Actually the tadpole design is the most common human powered trike design in the market with a few very specialized manufacturers like Hase in Germany dedicated to delta trikes. Tadpoles are made in Australia, Taiwan, Germany, Zcheck Republic, England, with the US having the most brand diversity. Most of them are now offering electrified pedelec versions but still mostly pedal powered with chains replaced by belts, gears and derailleur replaced by internal gear hubs, CVTs and even electronic shifting

Stability depends on weight, centre of gravity and wheelbase. To say a conventional trike is less stable is ridiculous.

If you've ever ridden one of each you would know that the reverse trike is much more stable and, if the front wheels tilt as you turn, It is the more stable that 4 wheels.

@@rfileger I have and because of it I now own a Rewaco HS6 trike. My arse is exactly 150mm off the tarmac. I actually sit lower than the centre line of the gearbox and half shafts at the rear. The centre of gravity works out at 550mm, obviously from the road surface. The width across the rear wheels is 1.8m. It’s more stable and handles way better than my 260Z Datsun with 185bhp.

@@stephenpenney6774 Completely different with a trike with a petrol engine, as the weight of the engine holds the back of the trike down. Pedal powered tricycles with two wheels in the rear are very top-heavy when ridden, and most don't have a differential so the cornering sucks.

Never been a fan of 3 wheelers. If I have to be in a traffic lane, I might as well have 4 wheels and while I'm at it, I might as well be enclosed inside to be protected from the elements.

Those were all some very excellent ergonomic designs. I still think we could make the battery a lifetime rechargeable design, if the HHO plumbing was installed in the framework though. It would make for an interesting Argon Carbon credit on the Delphi Charcoal Vacuum sensor for log & EKG California Emissions gasoline credit, competition with all those dinosaurs still milking the tax payer. It would need an off grid volunteer employee vocation supporting the on grid diplomacy especially on municipalities where the Railway and Fire Hall are bonded by yellow Mobil Scaffold on the Generic Form vendor A - 1 Exteriors white and black houses, bordering properties 15 feet from the rail. The idea could easily be a mechanism for a Common Goal Safety Incentive PLAN new Free Grant Conglomerate projection...very intrinsic to a Conventional Congress.
