Cheap Portable Clothes Washer - Camping Must Have!

In this video I do an unboxing and review of the Washing Wand which is a portable clothes washer. This is a great addition to your camping gear and I would recommend getting this setup if you are planning on doing some small loads of laundry while camping. Definitely a camping must-have if you are camping with kids! I did this review while boondocking at the Ruby Mountain Campground near Buena Vista, CO.

Washing Wand Amazon Product Description:
The EasyGo Washing Wand is the most portable and affordable washing tool on the market. Washing Wand is so easy to use and cleans clothes extremely well. The direct contact of the washing wand to the clothing and the push and pull suction gives a thorough rinse and cleaning of the clothes as a portable washing machine. We have taken washing wand around the world and everyone agrees it is much easier and more effective to use as any manual clothes washer. No more soapy soaked hands and manual labor with this clothes washing machine. The washing wand does all the hard work and has a comfortable easy to use handle. Compared to the old method with a wash tub and washboard for laundry, it is effortless. The Washing Wand is a mini washer and is so portable it can easily fit into a small compartment on an RV or in small storage space or closet. This clothes washer is great also for camping and traveling to remote areas. Just add water and soap and you will have clean clothes. The plastic design is 100% waterproof and will last for years as a portable washer. This mini washing machine is economical as it is a non-electric washing machine. A portable washer and dryer could be an option to an RV washer dryer combo or a compact washer dryer. As a portable washer machine, the EasyGo Washing Wand is even a great alternative to the small washing machines like a laundry pod or a wonder washer. The Washing Wand is great as a manual washing machine and easier to use than other hand powered washing machines. The EasyGo Washing Wand should be considered when you need an easy, convenient way to wash clothes.

For twice the price, the Rapid-Washer is a better choice; exact same design but has a durable metal plunger and wood handle. It will last for years. Horsemen have used them for decades to wash barn laundry - saddle towels, leg bandages, etc. Trust me!

The drying rack is pretty nice. We use that at home, but it works great while camping! Good to hear about the little washer. If we were going on longer trips, I would definitely buy one of those. Thanks for the comment and watching!

You don't have enough water in your bucket. Also don't overload it with clothes. Do a few pieces at a time. The soapy water has to be able to be pushed through the clothing to get it clean and the clothes have to have room to move around. This is much easier with more soapy water and less clothing. I use the Breathing Mobile Washer which is very similar to the one you are using and it cleans clothes better than a washing machine. I find sometimes also, people don't agitate enough. You should try to mimic the agitator motion similar to the old fashioned wringer washers. If you watch how those clean clothes, you will see the agitator causes the water to make a rolling motion. Hope this helps.

If one gets a plastic vegetable or milk crate or two, placing both soapy water to get ready to be rinsed, if the soapy water is not too dirty, it can be reused. Same for the start of draining rinse water from inside the crate over a bucket. A bit of juggling as I do small loads of laundry everyday. But helpful in my drought prone stricken state to save water. And I use several squared kitty litter containers between presoaks and wash. My bathtub offers a different situation as I can put one of the crates which is seven inches in height, under the faucet. As I am rinsing, I have another small load of clothes, pillowcases, bathmat or a towel that the soap being rinsed off in the crate goes directly on top of the next load to wash. If camping, I would want to bring my standard sized crate and like for my bath towels at home, position the crate between the two plastic wash bins and again, allow my towel to start draining.

Nice spot right by the river! Isn't all of that paid camping now? When I was a kid, we used to camp all over around by the river and there were no designated campgrounds that I remember. I think there's a park now over where the railroad comes out of the canyon but we used to camp and fish there a lot as well. I absolutely love camping full-time, so much peace and solitude! So different from being in the city all of the time. It's warming up in the desert now so it's going to be glorious over the next couple of months while I wait for the temps to climb in Utah which is now my favorite state. Hope to see you this summer. Like the wash system, I just make sure I have enough clothes to last several weeks and then hit a laundromat lol... 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

That spot is paid camping. There are still quite a few free areas you can camp on the river. It's surprising how many free spots there are still. They just get really busy in the summer time, especially early summer when the river rafting is the best. Yeah, I think I know which park you're talking about. BV has changed a lot over the last few years. I would love to try camping full-time! It sounds amazing! Utah, is a pretty amazing state. I would move there in a heartbeat! I like your style of laundry! That is a lot more efficient than my little system in the video, lol!

@@ColoradoCamperman My folks spent every moment they could outdoors and I know if they could have, they would have done what I'm doing now. The internet has opened up so many opportunities to earn a living outside of a "traditional" life. There are so many families traveling and home schooling their kids, the best part is their kids get to learn by experiencing rather than being stuck in classrooms all day. I figure you have an advantage because you have already know how to camp so it wouldn't be new to you, your wife might not feel that way... Come out and join the 1.2 million others who are full-timing, you're already debt free which definitely makes life so much easier 🌞 I really hope to explore Utah & Wyoming this Summer, so much I want to see & do and such a short window of nice weather. BTW, Eric got rid of that little washing machine quite awhile ago. One of those machines just isn't practical for me because I just can't carry enough water as my Casita only has a 16 gallon water tank and I have two 6.5 gallon gerry cans so I have to really be conservative with my water. So glad to see you posting vids again 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

Yeah, I would totally try out that life style. Trying to get my wife on board would be a challenge. I think she'd really enjoy it, but it would be such a huge life change. We've had some major life changes with having a baby and moving/downsizing to a different city in the last 2 years, I'd probably have to wait at least a year before I bring the idea up, lol! Good choices for the summer! Utah and Wyoming have some amazing areas to visit. I must have missed where Eric got rid of that washer. It makes sense though. I think your style of laundry is the best if you are full timing. Thanks for sticking around! Glad to be back making videos :)

@@ColoradoCamperman Sounds like your family has experienced many changes over the last couple of years so now probably wouldn't be a good time to bring up the full-time subject. I do hope that when the time is right you'll get to experience this freedom and sense of peace that being/living outdoors brings. Yes, cannot wait for some warmer temps to start heading north. Going to be a great summer! You make the vids & I'll watch them. Be well! 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

If you use more water than was used in the video your clothes should come out clean. I never had a problem with the handle coming loose, maybe you have a defective model. I did have a problem with the mobile breathing washer handle loosening during use, which is why I bought the washing wand. I did all my laundry for years with only this washing wand, various containers (buckets, totes, trash bins etc.) and a laundry spinner. Pretreatment, soaking, hot water, laundry boosters (e.g. oxiclean) and strong detergent (e.g. Tide or Persil) are the most labor efficient solutions for very dirty items. I hope you get used to it or find a suitable alternative.

I'm back indeed! Maybe, been thinking about potentially getting a pop-up style truck camper. With the little guy, it's hard for me to leave the family for 3-4 days to do snowboarding trips. So it's kind of hard to justify the cost of another camper that will hardly get used. Maybe once we can ski as a family I'll get another one. Unless I can find one for super cheap!

Good question. This has the aeration holes, so as you plunge up and down, water goes through that versus splashing up at you. It also has the "agitator" screen on the bottom. If you search around, you can find people who have modified a normal plumber's plunge to be something similar to this. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
