    I really don’t understand that thumb not closing 180 degrees. Love the machine but as an owner of a heavily wooded property that would be an issue for me. I’m trying to decide between this and Rippa Texas mini

  • @ColoradoCamperman
    @ColoradoCamperman11 күн бұрын

    I agree 100%, it's annoying. You can still grab stuff, you just have to have the bucket in the proper position and move the stick out a little more. Definitely get a machine with a hydraulic cooler! I have been having issues with mine overheating lately.

  • @ryanyoung2368
    @ryanyoung236811 күн бұрын

    @@ColoradoCamperman that makes sense. Just one of those little quirks I suppose. Each of these brands of the minis seem to have their own little down fall. It’s hard to find one that has the proper cooling fans, easy to maintain, has the drive gear protection, hydraulic cooling system, built strong etc. I’m deep in research on them all and it seems like basically it’s a give and take. Any idea if you could add some more fans or hydraulic cooler on your model? I’ve seen them on the new AGT industrial mini

  • @ColoradoCamperman
    @ColoradoCamperman7 күн бұрын

    @@ryanyoung2368 The hydraulic cooler comes standard on the 2024 YH14 models. Mine was a 2023 so it did not have one. If I were to go back, I would have purchased the XH14 because it had better engine access with doors/a hood and a hydraulic cooler. But for some reason Kymron no longer sells them? Not sure why that is. At this point, I am actually considering getting a larger machine. I really like the YH14 and there are a lot of pros to a smaller machine. However, for the projects I have on my to do list, a larger machine would be more suitable and save me a ton of time!

  • @ColoradoCamperman
    @ColoradoCamperman11 күн бұрын

    I agree with you somewhat. We bought our 2010 camper used for $12k and with CASH. We stayed on top of the maintenance and had it for 10 years with no major issues. We got rid of it because we stopped camping. Most people will buy campers new and finance them. They think because they buy a new camper there will be no repairs or maintenance and are surprised when they have issues. IMHO, newer campers are not built as well as older campers. Generally speaking, these are poorly constructed mobile homes that get abused with every mile you drive them down the road. If you buy a camper, you need to realize that there is recurring maintenance and repairs that need to be done.

  • @ColoradoCamperman
    @ColoradoCamperman22 күн бұрын

    First off, you should always tow within the capacities of your truck. Secondly, I think it depends on the terrain you are driving. For instance, about 2 months ago I was towing around 11,500 lb of rock in a dump trailer. In town on flat roads I was able to go the posted speed limits. Then I took it up to our cabin at 9700 ft. There are some very steep sections. In one area, I was going 15 miles per hour with the pedal to the metal (speed limit was 30). If I was towing 50 to 60% of my capacity, I could have easily been going the speed limit.

    There will be a bigger difference in fuel economy when towing. Diesels won't lose as many MPG's when pulling a load. Back when diesel fuel was cheaper than gasoline and it was only a $5k engine upgrade it made a lot of sense to get the diesel for improved fuel economy. Now that diesel fuel is more expensive and it's a $10k upgrade, the numbers aren't singing the same tune.

    OK SOME SAFETY TIPS: Always use heavy duty DC breakers at the positive battery terminals before the wires go anywhere else. Always use a heavy duty breaker between your inverter and your batteries. Always use a breaker between your solar panel and your solar charge controller.. These breakers should be rated for the max current that will be drawn though those devices.. Keep your cables as short as you can and use the proper size wire that is rated for or even higher than the current that will be drawn through those devices. Check "amperage capacity for wire" charts (online) to determine what gauge wire that is required for your system.. You would be surprised at the number of DYI people who do not know what they are doing and end up with inverter cables heating up like a toaster element. Keep it safe.. do the research, use correct and safe wiring to avoid issues and a possible fire. More importantly, if you don't know what you are doing.. FIND SOMEONE WHO DOES
