Are you driving in woods owned by you or the state?

I run these 1/5 scale buggies. Great fun on a track with several people. I purchased a roller. Most of the problem with these are the cheap China engine and electronics. My roller I installed a modded Zenoah and decent radio and servos. Very reliable. Not as finicky as nitro. 1 or 2 pulls and it starts. They can take a beating, and for the size the parts are cheap.

Figured you would have gotten a red one ,nice buggy ,I have the "cheap one" love the thing ,fun to drive

Keep the Q gas, and convert the other Rovan to brushless. I converted my 5b SS when Castle released the XL X. Miss the sound, but love the power, speed, and the convenience of reverse.

Its just a toy at the end of the day, I enjoy both , electric is easier and cleaner, nitro is waay too much fun :D

Good honest opinion on the cars at the end. I have been tempted to go for the cheaper one for a while now. I like driving fast so would prefer something with the front wheels mostly on the ground.

The rovans used to come with a hump pack for the steering and throttle servos. I have the full size version. Very heavy but very fast and very cool. People are amazed the first time they see them.

Reminds me of my baja 5b ss when I put the scorpion "shorty" chassis on it. Made it a lot more twitchy. I think this is even shorter though. That pipe though... man that's obnoxious! I ran the 5T can on mine.

edgy guy still me say warm and idle. Others say warm it up and thrash it straight out of the box. I’ve done both ways. Don’t see any real difference I do mix the oil slightly richer for the 1st couple of tanks and they run hard Stripped engines down and nice bed in markings and good compression on the pull start Food for thought

@@tontobb8956 you won't see a lot of difference, just minor difference in the wear of the piston rings and thus compression of the engine. You do get a better result running one tank through at idle before ever revving her, but if you don't mind the rings lasting just a little less and a little less compression after a few months...its not that big a deal. More important if youre very broke or very competitive like a pro racer.

My nitro rcs throttle servo got stuck fully open whilst it was running down the road, did about 50 mph into a kerb, did a big tumble into a bush, the only thing that broke was the steering servo!

@@benweinheimer6287 yeah i was lucky it hit the kerb head on so the small plastic front bumper took the hit (i was very surprised that it only had a bit of a dent in it) also one of the wheels got a bit scuffed

@@benweinheimer6287 i found out later that one of the throttle servo's cables snapped, i think it got stretched or caught in the gears so that was the problem, now i have a servo to replace!

@@cass8144 it's probably only a 30.5cc or less but ya 4 or 500 for a 1/5 RTR is cheap. I've had ALOT of rcs from 1/16 to 1/5 I'd say a 1/10 Emaxx and a 1/5 Baja is my favorite out of the years of rcing

I actually bought this car, love it, it's really loud though, a lot of fun, I actually ordered the longer one but they sent me the wrong one. I dont mind though, I got a better deal this way. The only problem I have is finding a place to drive it because it's so loud. Kev, I think you understated how hard it is so get into the battery compartment XD. This car was a great purchase though and I recommend it very much. Also it's my first and only 1/5th scale :)

Sadly I’ve never had good luck with these 1/5 gassers. Had two both were Baja clones I still prefer electric.

Nitro fuel is a good bodge/Bush fix but long term you definitely want filter oil.

U really make things hard for yourself sometimes haha

Question: What is the key difference between nitro and petrol powered RCs? (aside from the fact that they run on different fuel).

Nitro uses glow plugs and gas uses spark plugs. Nitro is also much higher rpm

Nice one Kev makes me want to get mine out to play. You call that running it in. I cringed when I saw you put nitro fuel on the air filter, you could do with a couple of Outerwears air filter pre-filters for added protection when running in the wet or dusty surfaces ditto the pull start and crank case, they will last longer good advice coming from a 35yr veteran of Gas trucks and Buggies including racing them. A killswitch again is needed, if you have an email address I can talk you through it.
