    @@thoughtfulsapien1235 He & ONE have a long way to go, to conquer the American market; but as he himself said, he grew up and was educated here, in the US... so it's not like some totally foreigner trying to break in. He knows the American culture, norms, and habits as well as any other American, having lived here for almost 20 years in their most formative years. In any event, he is right about ONE's rules being much more comprehensive than UFC's rules. Once the American MMA fans get used to that much more comprehensive approach to fighting and judging, they likely will move toward it. Using ONE's weight/weigh-in rule, for example, guys like Khamzat, Usman, Shavkat, and Leon likely wouldn't make it at 170 (or whatever division they're fighting in). Smaller guys like Colby, Jorge, Burns, Belal et al would make weight much more easily in the division all these guys are fighting in. 6'3" Jalin Turner or 6'3" Joel Alvarez ain't gonna make 155, no matter what, using ONE's rule. Over-all, it's a slightly healthy thing for the athletes, as very few of them would walk into the weigh-in with extreme gaunt looking faces... some hardly able to bend down to take their sweat pants off, etc.

One has becoming increasingly willing to hand out yellow cards which loses a fighter money if it seems like they are coasting. Its not perfect and leaves a lot of judgement in the refs hands, but thats how they deal with it. Amazing card...I understand the reason for starting with a MMA heavy card because thats what we know and Rodtang has the potential to make Muay Thai blow up in the US on his own, but wish there were a couple more world class strikers on there. Love to see Mikey, Reinier and Tye to show the best of grappling. I just think Muay Thai could blow up based on so many MMA fans who dislike the wrestling and ground aspect and the ability to fight moving backwards. Think there is a big market for each of these disciplines.

    Not too sure about Muay Thai blowing up in the US. It has a solid base here and the fighting style itself is one of the 3-5 or so cornerstones of mma; but I feel like people like Dustin Poireir, Dustin, Charles et al. ARE already among the very elite Muay Thai fighters who would likely crush any pure Muay Thai elite from the world, and YET on top of that these guys also have to deal with D1 wrestlers, Dagestani wrestlers (which added Judo, actual fighting, and BJJ to it, too), plus BJJ... so, again, I don't think the American audience is missing any short-cut Muay Thai display, because of UFC's rules. In other words, Muay Thai is really just a cross-breed of boxing and MMA, minus wrestling. Clinching, yes, but that's boxing (referee will separate the fighters, because beyond some point, it's mostly just to tie up an opponent, true in Muay Thai and true in boxing, even if in Muay Thai you could deliver elbows, knees, and spinning strikes, even in the phonebooth: but again, a clever opponent could always get the situation to be separated, in both Muay Thai and boxing, because eventually it just becomes a delying tactic, on one or both fighters part). Again, the UFC merely takes the NEXT STEP to include actual take-down AND submission, both standing and on the mat. So, in fights at the UFC, you really get roughly 95% of the best of Muay Thai, plus 95% of the best of BJJ, plus 95% of the best of D1/Dagestani wrestling. You CAN'T go full blown on any of them, because a superior striker who has elite take down defense, elite BJJ (even if it's not at Charles Oliveira or Islam's level of BJJ), and elite wrestling WILL take you out... if all you have beyond that guy is either just BJJ or wrestling... Bo Nickal, for example, WILL outwrestle every 185 guy, in pure wrestling. But he isn't getting passed Robert Whittaker and 3-4 others currently at 185, because those few guys have elite TDD, BJJ, & wrestling to stuff most of Bo's D1 wrestling; but they have superior striking abilities and vastly more experience. But in 2-3 years, when Bo's standup and BJJ are also elite, yes, with his true first tier D1 background, he likely would bulldoze over Izzy, Khamzat, Whittaker, Vettori et al.

  • @dchayes1001

    @dchayes1001

    Жыл бұрын

    @@kiabtoomlauj6249 You don't need to defend the skillsets of elite MMA fighters to me. I love MMA because it's a really beautiful combo of all those arts (boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, wrestling, judo, and jujitsu). Making it a really complex puzzle to solve from fight to fight. But I believe there is room for pure grappling as it becomes a different sport when strikes are illegal. In the same way, Muay Thai's rule set (no threat takedowns and no stepping out of at the very least kicking range) makes it very exciting in a different way. It is no accident that the best Mauy Thai practitioners like Anderson Silva, Jose Aldo, and Rafael Fiziev are extremely fun to watch strike. I know there is an audience in the US that would actually prefer to see them in pure striking matches. But I could be wrong. Bo Nickal is very impressive, if he keeps grinding, it looks like the sky is the limit.

    Yeah love muai thai fights and the asian production or 'flavor' as he said. Some of the muai thai fights are mean as hell, they do not f*ck around. Then you can hear the drums in the crowd going wild and it's like ong bak 🔥

    This is why I love One FC, the fighters always praise the company and the fights are always at a high level. Its a great time in the sport when you have a MMA business owner that love the sport more than the money you will always have a great product. I love UFC but I do believe Once FC has a better weight class system and roster due to this system as they are generally healthier.

    Chatri misunderstands something about Francis. He keeps talking about how there is big challenge for Francis at ONE. I'm sure there is. But Chatri should know by now: Francis isn't interested in a big challenge. If he wanted the biggest challenge, he would have stayed in the UFC to fight Jon Jones.

The women from the UFC can learn some stuff from the women in ONE because they are absolute badass savages. ONE will be a great in combat sports one day(I already think they are but the world needs to catch up)
