EPISODE 28: We are getting ready for Easter at our little château, and we have some fancy plans. Isabella is home and I want to try out some new recipes. Will they be tasty and tasteful, or a hideous mess? Will Simon choke or lose a tooth? A beloved statue is in pieces. We have a first-time attempt at decoupaging Easter eggs. Is this something the master of the house will enjoy? Easter decorations are whimsical and jolly. The men try to impress with their fire-pit roasting/fishing skills. Astronomy or Astrology? And, as always, a good bit of cheesy cheesiness. Happy Easter, everyone!! We love you! xxx

Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 20 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 18 years, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

Happy Easter, thanks for the laughter I needed that. I did eggs with my grandson this morning and we used small pieces of fabric to cover them. We then put them in a glass jar with a small string of led lights, put a piece of fabric on the lid. It came out really well. I also made hot cross buns with my other grandson, they were yummy. I am sooo tired now. Safe journey to the states.
I never laughed so much watching a vlog 😅! So much joy, laughter & love all rolled up into one. I did not realize that I needed a set of bunny ears, they are a must in everyone's wardrobe. Joyeuse Pâques mon amie 😘😘!!!

Laughter is contagious even through a video! No liquour in the tiramisu Easter basket? Decoupage and only 3 colors of Easter egg dye took me straight back to childhood.
My husband raises quails. He boiled the eggs and spent the afternoon with our granddaughters dying the eggs and making memories! The Easter table was beautiful.
Everything was beautiful! A dessert doesn't have to be pretty, just taste good:) Such effort!

My father is an Episcopal Priest.I have many happy memories of this hymn playing during the processional on Easter Sunday.It is one of our favorite hymns.He went into organ failure on Good Friday.This will be his last Easter.Hearing this today in your video is very special! So sorry for your loss. Glad you can derive comfort from the music and the vlog. "A Mighty Fortress is our God" was played at the funeral of a friend's father. When I complimented him on the choice, he said he selected it because it was so comforting.
This vlog was hilarious! I thought Isabel was going to fall off her chair during the tiramisu dessert tasting…..Simon was hysterical! I have decoupaged before and it’s really fun. I did it on a pair of ceramic bunnies using a beautiful floral pink napkin that had a variety of pinks, greens, and cream. That was over 20 years ago and I still have them. I put them out at Easter with the other decorations. Happy Easter and enjoy your trip to the states. I’m so glad you get to spend time with your extended family. I plan to see my mom this year…she will be 97 in a few months. It’s been 2 yrs since I’ve seen her. 🙏

The chateau looks lovely. Loved all the decorations and the bunny ears. I absolutely giggled through out this vlog and Isabella’s red face from laughing so hard inspired more giggles 🤭 I had a similar so called fail with chocolate mousse pie. It came out runny and looked like the end result of eating bad Mexican food but tasted yummy. A suggestion for the whipped cream..... while whipping, slowly add 1 tbsp of heated (it has to be liquidy) unflavored gelatin, continue whipping. In total, for the amount you had, a total of 3 tbsp should be enough. An alternative would be Oetker's "Whip It' cream stabilizer powder.
In Greece we pick wild weeds one of them being dandelion greens, after all cleaned and cooked they are delicious with olive oil, lemon juice and feta, i myself like the crumbly feta with chunks of crusty french bread or any other crusty bread. In North Carolina we also cooked wild weeds with ham hock, oh yum.

Beautiful chateau, from the spectacular exterior to the carefully appointed rooms. Very elegant. Sorry your tiramisu didn't quite work out as planned. They usually have layers of ladyfingers in between the cream mixture. This gives it a bit more structure, and prevents collapses. The ladyfingers is sprinkled or dipped in coffee for the classic tiramisu. Sugar syrup might work on your version. Beautiful just the same and the swirly soft colors were dreamy. I looked outside my kitchen window this morning and there was the easter bunny getting nutrition from the green shoots there. I almost didnt see him because he blended in so well with the broken tops and brown of the plants from the season before. He / she all fat and healthy and so chocolate brown like the chocolate bunny i eat at easter. I try not to miss. we try to have our traditions and that is mine. However , i still enjoy seeing a white fluffy bunny too. All the fun of easter. i enjoyed your being at home getting ready for easter

The candlestick, you bought as a gift... Just make sure a candle will stand securely in it, because it is in fact an inkwell, missing its lid. Not all of them can securely hold a candle....
