@Ring Neck You are absolutely right, but Lead acid batteries have very low energy density and recharging time is also very high, they lose lot more energy in standing. I agree that Lithium ion batteries aren't perfect yet those are the best that we've got right now for various reasons. They degrade, no doubt but I think that batteries made today are much more advanced, battery temperature and other related stuff are monitored by computers. Focus is all on the energy density and they hold the highest priority. Li-ion may not be the best but no chance for Lead acid ones.

  • @bhanuprakash1321

Super interview by Kedar! Mr. Gadkari has all the numbers down pat. Loved the free flowing way in which this video disseminates EV and clean tech. facts. It would seem that the Govt. wants not just electric but also other options. Personally the other alternate "fuels" also emit CO2. Would wish for this to be more important consideration... Not just letting the population at large just be governed by "cheapest is best" mentality. I honestly don't think Indians are "cheap". However we are quite a large population with not enough material resources to do things the way it is done with existing technology. So our leaders need to tell the people what's good and what's not. We need handholding and confidence building. Not just cheap alternatives. :-) But I am very inspired by the minister and how fluidly he spoke to PII. Way to go team!

Awesome. Local small houses and individuals should be allowed to install and charge EVs and get paid for it. At least 250 million charging points can sprout overnight this way. Half of which will create their own clean energy. Govt need not do 1 Paise investment. I m not BJP fan but Nitin Gadkari is a genius! Huge respect for this man who is doing cutting edge work. First minister to show vision and future to slow companies like Tata and Mahindra. Usually the minister were slow and companies had to educate them. With Gadkari it is the opposite. Whichever govt comes to power Gadkari must continue as the Transport Minister and his other portfolios. There is absolutely nobody who can replace him.

These designs should then be licensed to manufacturing companies across the country so that they can be made and installed in every village and town. My view is that now ISRO get on with Graphene and Combination Batteries with Aluminum etc. Because, the latest research indicates huge potential for Graphene. Unlike Lithium that needs to be mined and imported, Graphene could be obtained by processing coal in certain sequence!??? Also, INDIA SHOULD FOCUS ON PROTOTYPING FUSION REACTORS, THAT THE WHOLE OF THE NUCLEAR SCIENTIST COMMUNITY SAYS, INDIA SEEMS TO HAVE ALREADY GOT LAB SUCCESS OR ON THE THRESHOLD OF LAB SUCCESS! IN MY VIEW, FUSION REACTOR PROTOTYPING SHOULD BE TAKEN AS NATIONAL PROJECT WITHOUT ANY FUND CONSTRAINTS TO SOURCE MEN, MATERIAL AND TECHNOLOGY FROM ANY PART OF THE GLOBE, AT WHATEVER THE COST BE! EVEN THE FALL OUT TECHNOLOGIES ON THE WAY TO TRY A PROTOTYPE COULD MAKE INDIA LEAPFROG IN MATERIALS AND ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES AND CONTROL INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL EQUIPMENT - ELECTRO, ELECTRO MECH, ELECTRO HYDRAULIC, ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC-MECHANICAL!!

Nitin Gadkari, how much of methanol can goi buy. Can you give me eoi for making methanol from MSW, any help for getting waste from municipality. Cold storage from organic waste. 3 tons of organic farm waste can give 20 ton capacity cold storage For vegetable and fruits. Housed in 2 x 40 feet containers. In 21 days you can get 2.5 tons of compost. No organic fertilizer. No farmer suicide.

India has now developed a Fuel Cell technology that uses Methanol to generate electricity - This means, Bigger battery packs can now be replaced with Smaller battery packs with Methanol Tanks to make Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles. The only issue is the emission of Carbon Monoxide. It's a dangerous, toxic gas. But way less emissions than it's petrol cousins.

Lead acid battery with speed less than 25km is being discouraged by govt as there is lot of complaints about battery life and also less range . Also people are showing less itnrest in those due to less speed. So govt wants mfg to comeup with Ev Scooters that can clock more than 45km/hr speed. Okinawa ridge plus is very good option that costs 84k after all taxes. With removable liion battery and 2 year warranty on battery.
