Charlie Parr, To a Scrapyard Bus stop
Музыка
November 2011: In between his two night residency at the Cube Cinema, Bristol, Charlie Parr performed a couple of songs for us by the fire, at our friend George's house. To a Scrapyard Bus Stop is taken from his latest album, Cheap Wine

Something about his voice and the tenor or his songs are so perfect to me. I've only seen him live once, in the Los Angeles Silver Lake area. I drove two hours on a Duluth friend's recommendation, and was the first person to arrive at the locked club. The next person who showed up to stand and wait in the cold was a shy guy with a guitar case who told me the show was sold out. The shy guy was Charlie!... and he kindly got me in on the guest list. Thank you for that amazing show Charlie!

He is a genuine spirit and a living legend. I've seen him in person at least 5x and every time I get goose bumps. He never plays a song the same way so seeing him live is a gift which I treasure.

Got a similar story, me and my buddy went to his show in salt lake. Got there when the doors opened and we were the only people there for 20 minutes. Well us and a dude sitting in a chair in the very back. It was dark so I couldn’t tell right away who it was so we walked by to get a better look. And it was Charlie, just hanging out before the show. Didn’t know what to say to him so I just said hi and I’m excited to listen to him play and he gave a very genuine thanks and thanks for supporting him. Super cool guy.
Charlie I have not been moved by someone's music in a long time, but u have moved me, thank you sir
i dont know how i lived 24 years without Charlie Parr thank u kind sir

I just discovered Charlie in the Covid lockdown. Seemed like two things that were needed at the time.
Couldn't think of anyone I'd rather sit by the fire with. Love this guys work.

Saw a guy on tour with Colter Wall called John Clay.... he has one Ep. Similar voice.... check it out. He did a great cover of Spider John
I've never met my father, and I have never met Charlie Parr... I like to think that this isn't a coincidence.
I love this man, and his music, and everything about the world it conjures up, of loneliness, imperfection, pain and broken beauty. I always end up crying, but I feel like...that's the way it has to be. (Charlie, is your hand okay??)

Charlie Parr is just amazing!!!!
The fire, the guitar, the words, his voice. Just perfect and soul soothing and melancholic all at once.
such a beautiful melancolic song and sung with a unique bluesy voice by Charlie
One of America's greatest song writers. All time
America! Pay way more attention to Charlie than to some of your Opry stars!!! This man is real!. Saw him in Australia a few years ago and I swear to those not paying attention they may have thought he was a roadie tuning up. But then he played and sang and the crowd was awed. Such an amazing concert. As the concert progressed he almost became one with his guitar. Sometimes reality plays 2nd fiddle to "showmanship" but only if we let it. Please don't let it! Charlie is the real deal!
Obsessed with Charlie’s blues.
My all time favorite Charlie, song and video. So melancholy, such a sad song...
God I love this...Charlie has a true gift....

Thanks for this brother
IF My memory serves Me at all anymore, 2003, I was home on Leave from Japan OOFUCKINGRAH! I spent what I believe was Charlies' 3rd or Fourth show mesmerized by his real traditional singing voice. He was doing songs from Sailors and Sinner as well as 1922 Tracks. I have been a fan of fans of Charlie Parr since then. Thank You Charlie!!.

Finding it hard to describe how much this song affects me. It is full of pathos, heart wrenching in the way it describes real life... great beauty in it's delivery. Thanks so much Charley for all your amazing songs. Can I ask what tuning it is in?
@justink2874

I think standard 1/2 step down but could be mistaken. He uses many different tunings.
There's someone out there, Out in the snow I think that I knew her, long time ago Homemade outfit, frayed cap and gloves She is a monument, a tribute cause It must be a bus stop, there through the snow The wind whips right through her thin winter coat She pulls a cart behind her, there are tracks in the snow That lead to her possessions, tied up just so I know that I knew her, but I can't say how Long time before anyway, the way she is now There's someone out there, but I can't make her out Salvation Army shoes on, sole all walked out I know that I knew her, we were in love Long time gone anyhow, there comes the bus Crowd pushes past her, no one looks twice She looks through her window, and I catch her eye She doesn't know me, She looks away The bus slowly disappears through the snowy haze

Hi, Beforethewinterfires: was that Bristol UK? When's the guy coming over again? I can't recall another singer I've seen recently that moved me more! Stu
I also have an old Guild that lost its pick guard years ago. I think it looks better.
Hmmm.. three Glenn Beck fans stumbled upon this one.

+Joseph Grady The basic chords are G, D, F, and C. In the other part it just goes between A minor and C. With those basic chord formations he just does some ornamentation like hammer ons and pull offs. I find that if you just use the right chords and play around with them it doesn't have to be exactly correct and it still sounds nice.
