I'm unsure how many times I've now watched this ,but it's a lot. This depiction is absolutely perfect and outlines how utterly awful that program is . " I'm just owning the space "

It's weird, really, there's something I found both comfortingly familiar and yet also *bloody* annoying about Sunday Brunch. There's also that angle to it whereby I'm wondering how on earth someone so seemingly talentless and charmless as Tim Lovejoy managed to steal a living in television, it's almost like a magic trick.

True. It’s almost as if he had a high degree of ‘footy’ knowledge and ‘Top bants” too. Well, perhaps perceived as such by some coke-addled commissioning editor of programmes etc, who got introduced to Lovejoy at some function, and then posited the notion that he should front soccer AM which eventually led to BBC light entertainment/cookery magazine shows. Mental. Just shockingly uncharismatic. 🤣

@@tetsuoshima7385You’re miles off it with this tbh. Whether you like Lovejoy or not, he is held in very high regard with anyone who has worked with him and was absolutely instrumental in the success of Soccer AM, which at its peak was pulling in mental viewing figures. Every premise, sketch, character on the show was of his concept. This Brooker sketch is just an impersonation, nothing clever. Sunday Brunch is still going after 10 years, must be doing something right.

I like that old people baiting tv is insulted, young people baiting tv (of which Charlie makes a lot of it, black mirror for instance) is equally insulted. Its almost like everything on tv is actually terrible shit made to waste our time and make us feel a little less terrible about the fact our dreams and ambitions are mostly dead due to how rich people's children in essex are soaking up all the television jobs these days

I could commentate on football with little knowledge , and I could commentate as a non guardian reader. I could do either for an hour against a professional footballer or the editor of any newspaper. I also saw a live match once. What does that have to do with Sunday Brunch?.. It appears a laugh talky program filled with people that hold the power to talk and laugh.
