Gotta love Charles, hes 100% right that it was a tougher game back then. Today in the NBA if you touch someone its a foul, same goes with the NFL nowadays. If a star in the NBA (Lebron) drives to the basket and doesnt make the shot even if theres a tiny tiny tiny bit of contact its a foul. Sir Charles didnt say that about Lebron but fuck everyone knows its true, same thing happens to Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers, if they get hit a tiny bit they look to the ref throw a little hissy fit and get the flag.

The 'Millennial' generation is the first to not outperform their parents in all aspects of life. Financially speaking, it's not even close, the average age of first time home owners has shifted from 28 to 33. This whole 'spoiled' notion is a complete myth, there may be more exposure of spoiled brats, but the vast majority certainly do not fall into that category.

Dj Tzonev it also bears mentioning a high school education was the equivalent of what a 4 year college degree today is and wages had kept up with inflation. kinda funny hearing a baby boomer say millenials have it too easy.

  • @geebster.

Median income for ONE person back in the 60s and 70s was enough to buy a house comfortably. Now it takes upwards of 3x the median income (i.e. both people working plus a lot of debt). In addition to that..the minimum wage used to be tied to productivity...but was frozen by the Reagan administration. People are paid a LOT less for what their work is worth today. If people were paid the same percent of productivity as in 1980 today for minimum wage work (i.e. the same percentage of what their company MADE off the work they did), the minimum wage would be ~22 dollars right now. Theres just far too many facts people have to ignore to make the argument young people are better off now.

This 'millennial' ('89) agrees with Chuck. I wouldn't use home ownership as an economic benchmark either, as the other shift to note is that more people would prefer to live in the city (not suburbs) than previous generations. I'm also outperforming my parents at their age, and my dad is a doctor. I worked my ass off for a STEM degree while watching my peers waste their education away drinking, partying, and pursuing other instant gratifications. I'd argue the vast majority would rather use technology to share cat videos and hate on each other's political posts, as opposed to learn a new trade or skill that could benefit their career. So yea, we are a bunch of spoiled brats.

ruan jonsin using yourself as evidence is hardly representative of overall trend. Millennials are shackled by student debt, the kind that withholds even in bankruptcy. Working full time is also no guarantee of escaping poverty, let alone owning property, apartment or not. Criticizing that this whole generation of being too busy watching cat videos are surprisingly short-sighted and cynical. It's not like previous generation don't have their own poison.

betoquint619 no it's not, I'd put having to go against wars, depressions, rocky mountain locus, real civil rights issuses, more war, a great depression, more war, your president getting shot in a covertable, and other things against not doing things, because of over inflation, and CEOs trying to make as much money as they can. The internet and programming has level that field.

  • @BigstickNick

betoquint619 no, I just understand what they mean. they didnt always eat, yet we get mad when KZread doesn't load for 5 minutes. The internet and programming has leveled they playing field of job wages, and healthcare, because we are no longer subjected to Jobs society/college wants you to take. You can legit compete with brick and mortar stores(see netflix vs blockbuster). You could create an app with programming, and if it's something people like, you'll make a shit load of money. Is it hard yes, but that's the point. People in our generation tend to give up. People in the past had patience. If you truly sit down to do it, you'd be surprised. or maybe not, but at least the opportunity is there.

Millenials will complain about slave wages and gutted health care like it was a GREAT DEPRESSION thing,.Most people don't even have wages and health care in those eras,. the millennial who commented on this can't even appreciate the amount of OPPORTUNITIES to earn in this era, going as far as calling their earnings "slave wage".. they probably don't even know what an actual slave is LOL,. a slave is a PROPERTY with no option to quit his job to find another,.

Charles Barkley carried teams that were honestly not very good almost his entire career, and all Charles gets is how he didn’t win a Championship. You see guys like Jimmy Butler and Blake Griffin do everything they can not to play in important games and be cool with All Stars and 1st round knock outs and I agree that players are spoiled and only a few have the instinct to win. I am not hating on super talented athletes making 200 million I support them, but it is clear to see the guys who want to take the Vince Carter route and be cool with talent and avoid the critical part of the sport.
