Charles Barkley: KD is a 'follower,' Shaq: Dame, Giannis are 'being too nice' | FIRST THINGS FIRST

Спорт

During the NBA All-Star Game's Simulcast, Charles Barkley said that Devin Booker has to lead the Phoenix Suns to compete since Kevin Durant is a "follower, not a leader." After the East's victory, Shaquille O'Neal advises Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo to stop "being too nice .. they're going to have to grab some people by their necks." Nick Wright, Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes react to the TNT analysts' comments.

What a shock. Ppl who were never taught what leadership is have no idea what it is. We have an entire generation who think Biden/Trump are legit leaders 😂😂 We just don’t have them anymore. So ppl don’t even understand the conversation. Leaders LEAD. And they INSPIRE others to follow. Fathers are supposed to LEAD their families. It aint about money etc, its about setting the tone and being consistently strong of character.

Absolutely correct, but he can't then call himself a worthy candidate for being in the GOAT conversation. KD is who he is: an all time great player, third best of his generation, gifted scorer! But he is a number two, not no.1. He's a robin and not batman. He's slightly underachevied in his career given his huge skillset and being a seven footer with no offensive weakness, for the most part. I've said it in the past: give anyone else a seven foot frame with handles and a smooth J -- they are winning far more than two rings in two decades. And those two rings came at the courtesy of Steph and the Warriors.

KD is a leader, he just isn't a vocal leader. He leads by training, and doing the tasks that he is given. He leads by example which is the cornerstone and foundation of every leader. He just doesn't coach or inspire every player on his roster with words. This is fine, there are other people who do that. Also Nick left out Chris Paul. And Nick's definition of a leader is a sorry excuse for the word. You don't have to win a championship to be a leader, nor do you have to be the best player which many NBA players have stated multiple times but it falls on deaf ears for him.

They look at the record but nobody looks at the potential of this Bucks team right now. Since Doc has started to coach there, they have a top 10 defense in the league in those stretch of games despite not having Dame or Middleton in multiple games during that stretch. Giannis is by far the best player in the East and the most consistent. Dame has had a horrible shooting stretch with Doc but shooting is on and off, that’s not something you can coach players to do and Dame seems to have locked on in Allstar weekend. They have the 2 most trustworthy players in the playoffs for the entire conference. They have been the best team in clutch situations this season and their clutch defensive numbers are amazing. People talk about the Bucks bench production being bad but the Celtics are even more dependent on their starting 5 than the Bucks are. The Bucks have an incredible home record. They have 2 of the 3 best players in the conference with Embiid injured. They are the only team with a core that has proven to get it done in the conference. They hate to see what Milwaukee can be with so much time left and they show it in the games but people just like to look at the win and losses in this little stretch of games they had.

His defense is trash, he’s not a good rebounding guard, and on O he doesn’t even move without the ball, so it’s not like he’s drawing defenders with off-ball movement. To me, that’s the exact opposite of a leader. I expect a leader to do what it takes to win: shot not falling, defend at a high level and distribute on O…do the little things. Dame does NONE of that.
