Antonio Pierce's "recipe" for beating Chiefs, Mahomes comparable to MJ or TB12? | FIRST THINGS FIRST

Спорт

While on 'The Rush with Maxx Crosby,' Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach Antonio Pierce reflects on being the last team to beat the Kansas City Chiefs by saying quote: 'We’ve already given a recipe on how to do it.' Pierce then said the Raiders 'have Mahomes rules like Pistons had Jordan rules.' Nick Wright, Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes react to the coach's comments, then decide whether Patrick Mahomes is more comparable to Tom Brady or Michael Jordan. They then discuss on who can finally dethrone Chiefs Kingdom.

@@Bigdeebo17 that makes zero sense. Fair use easily covers the highlights and considering other shows, both on other networks and their own, show highlights in their vids, then it gain makes no sense. And they give away the whole show already on youtube in audio form. They make money on youtube and are always trying to promote it, always. Cable tv is a dying medium and that is why their "ratings" also covers things like youtube and the shorts. Guess I'll keep tuning into the asian teenagers channel because I cannot tune into the show in the middle of the afternoon.

To beat them in the regular season you have to score early, run the ball to keep Mahomes on the bench, get at least two sacks, and force the Chiefs to make a mistake. In the postseason, you also have to play mistake-free after the half to have a good chance. In basically both scenarios you also can't make the last mistake. You don't need to score lots of points, but if you are able to turn at least one field goal into a touchdown, it buys you space for the other thing that must be planned for: the random wacky, crazy lucky play the Chiefs seem to get once a game. Lastly, if the Chiefs have the ball down a td or less, and there more than 3 minutes on the clock, its almost smarter to just let them score a touchdown so you can get the ball back with time. All that, and you have a 30% chance of beating them in the regular, and a 10% chance of beating them in the postseason -Source: I'm a Broncos fan with intimate knowledge of how to not beat the Chiefs

Exactly. Find the other teams franchise quarterback and match the jersey to the grass. The Steelers won how many games by just finding the franchise quarterback? The browns? Find the franchise quarterback. Las Vegas needs somebody who is not a straight liability for them. For example, Gardner minshew and PJ Walker arent franchise quarterback but twice as good as their current void in the pocket. Kellen Mond isn't doing anything. And with the money they save they can hire Chris Jones. Hire Derek Henry and play him at quarterback. Better than getting tannehill.

Luck plays a big part in the nfl. This goes for all team (including chiefs). You know it wasn’t luck because chiefs have a very good defense yet they couldn’t beat the raiders. The way that game played out wasn’t due to luck. Raiders are a better team than most people think. Josh McDaniel severely handicapped this team when he was head coach

That’s kinda why the football/basketball comparison is a bit tough to make. In football having a monster draft can turn a team around immediately because those players have impact more quickly, in basketball it usually takes longer. It’s also worth noting Mahomes was drafted to a Playoff team and Jordan was drafted to a perennial doormat.

In all honesty, the way to beat the Chiefs is the way historically that all teams have done it to dynamic offenses. Get pressure on the QB with either just your front 4 or your choice of 4 pass rushers. Keep in mind where Antonio Pierce came from. The Giants. That's what they did at many times in that 07 run when they ended up beating the 18-0 Patriots. Their front 4 dominated 3 very good offenses in Dallas (13-3), Green Bay (13-3), and New England (16-0). Osi, Strahan, Tuck were the leaders of that devastating Front 4 Same thing in 2011. Osi again, JPP, Tuck, Kiwanuka got after guys when they won in 2011 Bucs in 2020 did the same thing. Guys like Barrett and JPP got after Pat with mostly only using 4. To beat the Chiefs, you have to have a Front 4 great enough to get after him with just those guys. The formula is simple, but it's hard to execute it. Send 4 and hold up good enough in the back end Between Jordan and Brady, the better comparable for Mahomes would be Jordan. Like I've said before, Brady was never that talented physically. Mahomes and MJ are. That's the better comp

Does anyone else find it weird that Joe Burrow is seen as head qnd shoulders above Lamar and Allen. Its almost like he gets more props for just beating Mahomes once it the play offs then Lamar's MVPs

Lamar is at least a 2 time MVP. Burrow's only claim is "Beat Mahomes that one time in the playoffs". Do they make trophies for that? Not saying Burrow is bad. He's still good. Lamar is just better than him.

@lukew1383 yea I agree I really rate Lamar. Also I do love Pat so this comment was 2 birds one stone to say it's crazy that Lamar and other don't get comparable love to Burrow but also it's insane that Pat is rated so highly that beating him once it the play offs puts you in a class of your own below him for sports media. I understand this is not general public opinion

@lucio989 I think Lamar is better personally but eye test can understand why you'd like Burrow, deals with pressure great. However it is insane that media puts him in his own category just for beating Mahomes once. It feels like it goes Pat by himself, the Joe Burrow by himself and then remaining top 5 QBs
