Tried twice to charge my new ZS EV trophy LR and failed miserably at two different chargers. The charger went faulty and then reported the fault and went back on line each time. I then gave up as this was a test of rapid charging and I had somewhere to be. and had enough range. I'll try again when I have more time.

The only issue I can see is. wheelchair users might have difficulty as the contactless payment screen etc is to high. After all we do drive as well. Nice to see it's contactless payments. Rather than more apps to down load.

This is a very good point indeed. With the increased adoption of EVs in general, I wonder if it will be long until we start seeing disability charging bays become more common. I am not 100% sure what this may look like, but certainly a lot more thought about these type of aspects.

@@DriveGreen I Do know that it is being looked in to by a group that deal with disabled accessibility to chargers [ it was covered in Fully Charged. To be honest it's not that hard to do. Lower controls, bigger bays and curbs are an issue of course]. Until they do it. we are more or less stuck with I.C.E. vehicles.

Hi Richard, as a new ev owner I find the Motorway charger availability is poor, today as an example on the M5 south Frankly services only have 2 chargers and they were both in use, the drivers were only just leaving so I know I had a wait, which I didn’t! Even if I did wait is there queuing etiquette?😊. Later I stopped at Gloucester and the same, all chargers full, and 3 cars waiting😳. During the summer it would seem the likelihood of charging on the motorway network would be slim. Has anyone else had problems charging on the motorway network during peak times?

Fortunately we have only had one situation where our chosen charger was full, but on that occasion we went to our backup charger which was free. As more and more people adopt EVs, the demand for more chargers is inevitable. Our best advice is again planning! It is difficult to predict other peoples use cases, where they will be charging and when. When you know you need to make use of the public charging network, have a fall back option or two and perhaps allow yourself a little bit of extra time just in case. Do take a look at our full charging guide if you haven’t already. Hopefully some useful tips for you on there.

There are certainly some areas where it is still a touch challenging, but it is getting better every day as more and more chargers are going live 🙂

@@DriveGreen Thank you, found out its 39p kw hour. A bit expensive but nice and simple to use, I don't have a smart phone so worth it.
