From Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, “Ted,” “Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey”), THE ORVILLE is a live-action, one-hour space adventure series set 400 years in the future that follows The Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of everyday life. The ensemble series stars MacFarlane as the ship’s Commanding Officer, Ed Mercer, and Adrianne Palicki (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Friday Night Lights”) as his ex-wife, Kelly Grayson, who’s assigned as his First Officer. Additional cast members include Penny Johnson Jerald as Dr. Claire Finn (“24,” “The Larry Sanders Show”), Scott Grimes as Gordon Malloy (“ER,” “Justified”), Peter Macon as Bortus (“Shameless,” “Bosch”), Halston Sage as Alara Kitan (“Neighbors,” “Goosebumps”), J. Lee as John LaMarr (FAMILY GUY, “The Cleveland Show”), Mark Jackson as Isaac (“That Royal Today”) and Chad L. Coleman as Klyden (“The Walking Dead,” “The Wire”). The Orville has been renewed for a second season.

It's funny when you realize these character recaps are a low key diss at STD for their lack of character development.

It's funnier when you realize that Seth MacFarlane just wants to produce a good show and doesn't care at all about _Discovery._

@@Rathkryn Nice reading Comprehension skills.
I am excited for the season premiere tonight!
The first thing John did when he got his new posting was to mount a cup holder on his engineering console.

Books and star trek orville what else does a man need to make life perfect?
The orville should meet the star trek enterprise
It's tonight! Yes!!!!
Can't wait for 9 years from now to sit through season 1-7 just like all my star trek stuff on Netflix. Till then Hulu works :(
Awesome 1st episode for season 2
TONIGHT!!!
Give Issac all the tech just Issac and the ones he trusts
Will you please give us an update on what happened to Yaphit? He is not listed in the season 2 cast. No one is talking about him at all. Norm Macdonald was conspicuously absent from any of the cast panels at the conventions. It is like everyone but me was Flashy Thinged and made to forget Yaphit existed.

Maybe he took a transfer to avoid any awkwardness over the Dr Finn thing.
Was this the last time we saw Yaphit? :(
Traveling through time within space: To what extent are both the modern and historical characters’ actions driven by fascination with the past? Are they more affected by the historical past, or their own personal pasts?
Less than 9 hours to go.
He's like the American Geordi LaForge (except he can get ladies)
Isn't a Helmsman Higher than Engineer
While I'm looking forward to the upcoming season I do want to correct something that John said. His colony was all farmers and builders and he pretty much had to dumb himself down to fit in. Who does he think built and maintained that community he lived in? I see this every day, office people who have a few years in college who think that they are smarter than the guy who is fixing their air-conditioning. Its all relative.

He's not an office person who has a couple of years of college. He's an expert engineer who graduated top of his class and whose intelligence on the ship is only rivaled by an artificial life form. He also specified that he dumbed himself down after seeing how his colony reacted to his intelligence. He is correct here.
First episode was okay. I was hoping for something more exciting to be honest. and the scene with the canyon...that was IT? The robot was pretty funny. Like the new lady character. Not a fan of the bartender. When they said the new DARK MATTER person I was really hoping for someone from Dark Matter. BUT I expect great things looking at the previews. So maybe it was what was advertised the SECOND episode instead of the First. What was up with that FOX? Trying to kill the show> Seth should have taken it to NETFLIX More money and more episodes.
Please no football overtime....
Donald Trump: *is president for 4 years* The media: "If I may make an observation, you seem ill-suited to perform your assigned duties."
Star trek light mcfarlane take a vacation
Lamar acts a bit stereotypicaly black, i love that they gave him this new trait. However, i think if someone in real life acts "stereotypicaly black" - be yourself, you don't have to change your habbits only so society wouldn't judge you. It goes both ways, all ways. You don't have to act "black" of you don't want to, but if it's your habbit, you don't have to change it.

Ew
I assumed this series was a parody of Star Trek TNG. It looks like a clone version of the Star Trek franchise.
I never really liked Lamar as a character, I got the feeling he got thrown in there and told to act like a black American stereotype.
