Character Animation in Cinema 4D - Storybook Style with Alex Parker

Фильм және анимация

Character animator Alex Parker goes behind the scenes of her trademark storybook style, demonstrating tips and tricks across the pipeline that wok together to deliver whimsical, character driven pieces.
Alex Parker is a freelance Animator + Designer, working under her freshly founded freelance brand, Ladybird Animation. Known mostly for her mid-century design aesthetic and relentless use of the color pink, Alex is no stranger to quirky character animation and telling stories her way: one frame at a time. Her motto is pretty simple: ‘Bright colors. Black coffee.’

The lightwrap! and so much more... every sections break down got me a little jazzed up with new tidbits for character workflows in cinema. This presentation is a straight up gem :)

Thanks for this! Some great tips! Love your work and style! I've used the posterize time effect for the stop motion look with beat heavy animations and found that keyframing the layer off during those contact frames did the trick. The change of rhythm in the posterize is not noticeable and allows you to get those contact points.

What a great tutorial! ± 2 times per week I go to a friend who helps me to make 3D animations as a hobby. He actually uses C4D to setup basic characters and set design in order to study how light interacts with them. Eventually he draws cartoons from these results. Really cool stuff too btw. Your approach with animating the mouth is something we did too some time ago, but we wondered: "how to move the chin/jaw too?" Do you have any tips? Thank you in advanced!

@@ladybirdanimation wait wait, commenting on your appearance is a bad thing?! I think this past toxic feminist movement is getting to youre head. I didnt mean anything bad by it but all of the sudden "This is what sticking up for female colleagues in animation looks like" because i commented on how pretty you were instead of the work which i mean add, i did notice, but it was just a simple comment that now you have decided to turn into something else. Uh, why? Do you think that diminishes your skills or overlooks them? if thats what you actually think so, shouldnt you stop wearing make up all together since appearances should be the last thing you should case about? These are genuine questions to someone that was, offended? by someone calling them, pretty. Wow, which by how soft you are, ill be taking that back lol
