Did you see that Broken Binding are doing a sci-fi subscription soon? I know I've had things sent from world of books in plastic bag before now and it got beaten up in the post. I was so mad. I enjoy these large unboxings, but I enjoy unboxing of any length. 😊

I'm very tempted to join the TBB sci-fi sub as I think it's either quarterly or bi-monthly, so less of a commitment, and I think they could really make amazing editions of some older sci-fi titles (plus new releases) so if I can get on it I probably will. I just can't imagine what goes through someone's head when they put anything solid into a plastic bag for post. I wonder what the book ever did to them lol

I know you weren't a fan of the dialogue in Empire of the Vampire or Fourth Wing's use of contemporary swearing, and that is exactly what you get in Voyage of the Damned. It is super crude.

oh, probably not going to end up on my faves then if that's the case, I'll still give it a fair shot (maybe into the TBR jar it will go) but tempering my expectation

📚Fav book was probably the House of Open Wounds; I should really get on reading the first book. Sidenote: my own arachnophobia thanks you for taking one for the team. (I once failed a school report b/c we were supposed to include a pic of the spider and I looked at the picture first hoping to, like, get it out of the way or whatever and...no. Scarred. Refused to do it. Most satisfying failing grade I ever had.)

I salute your failing grade. I had an A-level Psych class where we covered phobias but the image in the workbook was of a spider so I refused to open the book to that page 😂 had to question the teacher on why you would intentionally put a picture of one of the most common phobias in the book with like zero awareness like what did they expect

you are so correct about the foil characters - they really drag the quality of the books down imho - I'm not always a fan anyway of this Disney/anime crossover cartoon style that all book boxes seem to insist on always using, & it absolutely definitely does not translate well into chunky lined foiling re the silly names, I always return to when JK R***ing named all her places stuff like "wizard castle" but in obviouly google translated Portuguese

I think if the foil had been more blocky, instead of an outline (like the inverse of how it is, so all the armour were foiled) it might possibly work. Or a posterised effect. But fine outline and foil does not mix imo. Would you believe I cut out the part of the footage where I start ranting about the name "remus lupin" and questioning why all the latin-spell-speaking wizards don't know Wolf Wolf when he walks in 😂
