Last time I watched this, Olivia Colman wasn’t as well-known. Now, I recognize her immediately!
Martin Freeman's reactions are gold. Gold.
The tech guy scenes in this episode are some of my absolute favourites. I know so many men who really aren't that far off him in real life.

Olivia Coleman! Crazy to watch this again after so many years and have no memory of her being in The office. Ricky sure has an eye for talent.
Funny to me is that I love how the tech guy is an absolute tool, but also love how he's got enough moxie about him that he just flat out stops tim in his tracks with the dawn comment.

Bit mean of Neil to say they might as well get rid of Dawn - It wasn't her fault, Brent is her boss, and she was just doing as he said.

When you've watched this show over repeatedly you come to realise Neil who on first watch appears to be the good boss that everyone loves is actually even slimier than Brent it's just he's not as obvious about it. Of course he wasn't actually going to fire Dawn he was just making a point but it was fairly rude to be doing it Infront of her.

Litterbugs.
Very unusual to see the unlikeable character (IT guy) 'win' in comedy but he absolutely crushes Tim with that Dawn line
Reasons Neil was an ass: 1 - Openly talking in front of Dawn about laying her off as if it were no big deal 2 - Not waiting to get David's side of the story 3 - Bollocking David in a confrontational manner rather than coaching him to be a better manager. No wonder David reacted the way he did. 4 - Doing item 3 in front of everyone rather than pulling him to one side 5 - Stepping towards David and into his personal space as if to physically threaten him, which is borderline assault 6 - Pulling the "I'm your boss" card, and not for the first time. Anybody who has to say "I'm the boss" is no boss.

and all of the above happens in virtually every office in the country, if not the world
@curiaregis9479
4 ай бұрын
Interesting perspective. Wrong, but interesting. I'm with Neil on this. First, he was challenging David's assumption that Dawn could leave early, for if she can leave willy-nilly then why is she necessary at all? Any dimwit can tell he wasn't threatening to fire her, obviously. And when Neil says "I'm tired of this fuzzy thinking" he's talking about a pattern, it suggests that David being a slacker has been ongoing, so it becomes understandable that Neil would use social shame as a harsher corrective to his behavior, which explains why he didn't take him aside. The "let me remind you that I'm your boss" is because Neil is rightly upset about David's unprofessionalism but David responds as if everything is cool and casual, as if they are friends. So reminding him that he is the boss is to remind him that Neil is responsible for seeing that the office runs professionally and David is expected to fall into line, not to be sloppy and self-centered, which is how David is behaving. So yeah, Neil is not an ass, people like you are just snowflakes.
